Our coverage of the official UEFA Fantasy Champions League game returns this afternoon. With just eight teams left in this year’s competition, our options are somewhat restricted ahead of this evening’s 7.30 pm deadline – nonetheless, we hand-pick six players for your consideration, with the obvious options again overlooked:

Tuesday

Philipp Lahm – rested to the bench in last weekend’s home draw with Hoffenheim, Lahm was only called upon after Thiago Alcantara was forced off through injury. Classified as a defender (priced at 7.0) in the Champions League game, he’s been mainly utilised in midfield under Pep Guardiola and has chipped in with a goal and six assists over the season thus far – the Bayern skipper could well be amongst the points in tonight’s crunch encounter at Old Trafford.

Koke – with Raul Garcia suspended for the trip to Barcelona and Diego Costa a big doubt, Atletico will rely on their midfield to provide a cutting edge in this evening’s all-Spanish showdown. A tight match is anticipated in the Nou Camp but with a price of 5.5, Koke – who has six goals and 13 assists already to his name this season – is a budget-friendly option for Diego Simeone’s La Liga table-toppers.

Dani Alves – Barcelona are in decent defensive form for Atletico’s visit, though, with three clean sheets in their last four games. The hosts chances of another shut-out have been boosted by Costa’s potential absence and, having chalked up four goals and a pair of assists this term, Alves (priced at 7.0) marginally gets the nod ahead of Jordi Alba as our pick.

Wednesday

Karim Benzema – the Frenchman plays host to a Dortmund side decimated by injuries tomorrow evening and offers an in-form double-up option alongside Cristiano Ronaldo. Benzema – available for 11.5 – has managed four goals in six Champions League games and struck 17 times domestically; with Robert Lewandowski missing out through suspension for the visitors, he looks a handy up-front replacement if you fancy Carlo Ancelotti’s men to bang in the goals.

Christophe Jallet – the right-back has been an ever-present for PSG since Gregory van der Weil was forced onto the sidelines with a knee injury. Priced at just 4.5, Jallet offers a cut-price route into Laurent Blanc’s backline and with Jose Mourinho expected to keep it tight in Paris, the hosts will fancy their chances of delivering a clean sheet, bearing in mind the Blues have failed to score away to Villa and Palace in their last two away league matches. There’s a chance that Marquinos could be shifted over to the right but we’re sticking our neck out and reckon it’s more likely Jallet will get the nod.

Fernando Torres – on the other hand, if you fancy Mourinho to mastermind a cheeky Chelsea victory in the French capital, you don’t have to look much further than Champions League specialist Torres. The Spaniard sets you back 9.0 and has already scored three times in this term’s competition – with Samuel Eto’o sidelined due to a hamstring injury, Torres is set to lead the line for the visitors.

Reports a few days ago that he was "set" to be ruled out for the rest of the season. Nothing since actually confirming that ruling out.

Guess you get Harper and hope that McGregor does not get better.

I'm not sure. The following CL game when Bayern got a PK he didn't take it but I don't know if thats set in stone. Maybe somebody who's been following them can confirm.

My defence at the moment is:

          Alaba - Lahm - Azpilicueta - Carvajal - Durm

@ Wilshere ..... an any other Gooners out there - Win FA Cup = happy enough ?

Start of season wudda taken FA Cup and top 4 as successful season, so still would be happy with this ?

However now that financials are in line I am expecting bigger things in next 1- 3 yrs .

We a patient bunch , but at least got to watch good football in the lean years.

a trophy is a trophy. It would be hypocritical of any arsenal fan to say it isn't good enough when for the last few years they have been banging on about winning "something"

in addition, if arsenal win the fa cup it should be seen as a successful season and the fans should be happy. The team is actually progressing and improving (evidence is a trophy - if they win it of course).

With investment in new players it will look better going into next season. People easily forget this season walcott, ramsey, wilshere even ozil have been missing. Key players missing at key times.

Something needs to be done from a training point of view to stop the injuries but also more depth needs adding to the squad

Agree Bemba. Stop those injuries . Or is Arsene just investing in so many talented players that also tend to be rather frail ?? I said it this yr and I am pretty confident we will be up their in the next couple yrs. Suck on that Chucky hehe.

      Liverpool fan here....

Arsenal in great shape, now just needs finessing over next 2-3 years

Assuming Liverpool are in title race for next 2-3 years I would see Arsenal as a significant threat

The injury issues are pretty worrying though. Happens EVERY year so not just bad luck

Injury thing is right on it. Liverpool fan here too, we do get some injuries, Lucas and Enrique for example, but on a whole, I don't think we are lucky with the lack of injuries, training must play a huge part.

Hey Zotter - Yeah injuries every year a real prob. Admit I said a a month or so back Pool cd never take it, with their squad but hey they have stayed largely injury free ! Routing for you guys big time. As an "outsider " English football need Pool back.

          Ha- thanks

Though I have said it before we have had significant (5+games) absences to:

Suarez. Sturridge. Coutinho. Allen. Lucas. Gerrard. Enrique. Sakho. Johnson. Agger

Thankfully not like arsenal in that four attacking mids out at same time.

Our squad is woeful on paper though and shudder at the thought of Suarez getting injured now !

    Suggestions please...

    1 FT. £1.4 bank

    Mannone (Davis)
    Luiz. Ivo. Zabaleta. (Coleman. Ward)
    Silva. Nasri. Sterling. Hazard (AJ)
    Sturridge. Lukaku. Suarez.

    Options:
    1. Luiz to Cheapie or Shaw
    2. Sterling to Henderson
    3. Luiz / Sterling to Flannagan / Lallana (-4)
    4. Other

I am ok with number of gw34 doublers so no urge for Mirallis etc
