A mere two Fantasy Premier League gameweeks remain and it truly is do or die time for points accumulation – perhaps you need to cement your lead ala United and City, or maybe you’re making a last gasp Kenny Dalglish surge. With much left to play for, it’s two of the game’s big cheeses who are storming away in this week’s Captain’s Poll. It appears that reliability, rather than risk, is the general consensus. With Fantasy Managers placing a safe wager instead or punting on a late outsider…

It is Frank Lampard who currently tops our charts – with just under a quarter of the vote. The Chelsea skipper is in rampant form, fetching 4 goals and 6 bonus points in his last 5 Premier League outings, although it is too little too late as far as their title chances are concerned. Carlo Ancelotti’s men face Newcastle this weekend and you would expect some goals against a creaky back four. This will therefore be the reasoning behind Didier Drogba’s inclusion in fourth place in our table with 6%. The Ivorian has scored just 1 goal in 6, but he makes up for this with 5 assists and 7 bonus points.

The second of our heavyweights, just behind Lampard by a handful of votes, is Robin Van Persie who faces an Aston Villa defence that have kept just 1 clean-sheet in 13 fixtures. The Dutch striker has an incredible record of 16 goals in his last 15 Premier League games. In the same period he has also notched up a remarkable 24 Bonus Points. As Arsenal’s form has buckled, RVP has steadily continued to rake home the FPL royalties – something which shines through in the fact no other Arsenal player makes the top 20 in the poll.

Luis Suarez pops up in the third spot, followed by Dirk Kuyt in eighth. Liverpool currently sit just 2 points above Spurs in fifth in the Premier League and, with form on their side, you would expect the Reds to have the advantage over Redknapp’s boys as the two sides meet each other at Anfield. At the time of writing, only Rafael Van der Vaart from the Tottenham contingent has clocked up any votes – a paltry 1%.

Elsewhere in the ranks, Manchester United’s in-from pair Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez hold 5% and 4% respectively. You would expect them to have received slightly more but, with the title all but guaranteed and one eye on the Champions League, the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen could be factors in the United line-up. With West Ham at home and 3 goals in 4, Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia has plenty of potential and 6% of you agree.

Whoever you feel holds the most Fantasy potential in this penultimate gameweek, be sure to cast your vote on the front page and join in on the gab below this article.

johnfinlay John swears he'll deliver unbiased Fantasy Premier League tips and news...until Leeds get promoted.

    Is it really worth getting Chelsea players in when chances are they're being rotated?

    Is Carroll gonna start?

      With the recent performances I can't see who Kenny would drop to bring Carroll in so I think he'll start on the bench.

      might not be any harm in getting in a def starter in place of luiz/huth/ridgewell but seeing as clean sheets are hard 2come by you could be better off just leaving it?

    There'll be a 'proper post' on this is the week to come, but while I'm at the internet and have my code to hand...

    We'll be running our annual Last Chance Saloon league next week.

    Rules are simple: GW38, top scorer wins, playing for pride. Last chance for a spot of success/notoriety/bragging rights/etc.

    If it takes your fancy, the code is 32-501665.

    Mids: Adam, Lamps, VDV, AYoung, Silva
    Fwds: Odem, RVP, Carroll

    I planned to bench Carroll and am wondering which mid to trade out to get Nzog or Kuyt (I feel I missed the boat though)/Maxi.

    Adam & Lamps will stay for now:
    - Young is logic but Arsenal is far from being safe at the back and he is almost my sole differential
    - Silva could be rested and might be worth ditching
    - VDV not on great form and playing Pool away but should get points in the last game

    So, should I get rid of Silva or Young?

    Transfer in who for Gyan? for 7.8m

    a) Sturridge (will he do anything away at Bpool?
    b) Campbell (surely Blackpool will go nuts out for a win)
    c) Hernandez (chance of playing 90?. on good form though)
    d) Rodallega (hit or miss. home to WHam though who will be going for a win so could be gaps at the back)
    e) Ba (Wham need to win to stay up)
    f) other

      i feel like i'm pimping out rodallega but i reckon with those 2 last fixtures he could score big! do you have any opinion on the following:
      1. rodallega in,zamora out

      3. a.cole in, luiz out

        yeah, ive been looking at all those transfers.

        1. Rodallega could get quite a few points or could get 2. It's hard to tell, but the game shoudl be balls out from both sides. so there should be goals. Znog on pens tho

        2. TThe Silva thing is a worry. worst case scenario is he plays 30 mins and gets 1 point. I might bench him. This is prob you safest transfer though, depending on your starting 11 and bench

        3. Thinking the same, but seems a waste on a defender, but then Luiz is at risk. Could Cole even be rested on the last game if they have nothing to play for?

    Hi guys,

    I'm trying to make 7 points up on my mini league leader and I really don't want to lose.

    My current team is;

    Foster / Begovic
    Luiz / Kolarov / Huth / Simpson / Walker
    VDV / Kuyt / Modric / Silva / O'Hara
    Rooney / RVP / Zamora

    I'm worried about my lack of Chelsea cover (swapped lamps for vdv last week.) I'm considering the following;

    A) Modric + Silva + Huth -> Lampard + N'Zogbia + Djourou (8 pt hit)
    B) Silva + Zamora -> N'Zogbia + Saurez (4 pt hit)
    C) Rooney -> Drogba (free)

    Any thoughts? And any swaps I haven't thought of?

    Thanks

Also Captain currently on Drogba as i see there being plenty of goals in that one but i've heard Drogba may be playing out wide with Torres in the middle so should i stick with him or change to RVP/N'Zog? have a 20 point gap to catch.

    hmmm tough one this week. I'm 18 points ahead & with a free transfer - rival has Kuyt. My team (lets not talk about defence!):

    Mids: Nani VDV Young Adam (Yaya)

    My tiny mind is thinking of the following:
    A) Nani & VDV -> Lamps + N'Zogbia
    B) Nani & VDV -> Kuyt + Malouda
    C) Nani & Young -> Kuyt + Malouda (would be safest option re. rival)
