The Dugout Discussion kicks into gear for five more fixtures of our penultimate gameweek. unfortunately today’s television broadcasts are aimed in the direction of the only two games with “nothing left to play for” (don’t blame them too much, they have to make these commitments months in advance).

Later today Arsenal will have their final home game of another barren season versus Aston Villa for our viewing pleasure. Elsewhere in the four o’clock kick-offs Liverpool and Spurs will jostle for fifth place and a spot in the Europa league, West Ham travel to Wigan needing a victory for any faint hope of survival this year. That may not even be enough, if Birmingham can get just a point at home to Fulham at the same time then The Hammers are Championship bound.

But first we’ve got Chelsea playing host to Newcastle in a dead rubber fixture. Ancelotti keeps his word and Torres starts (alongside Nicolas Anelka and Yossi Benayoun) with Josh McEachran, Alex and Ramires also coming in. Alan Pardew keeps to his word and rests Cheikh Tiote for the remainder of the season to avoid a record 15 yellow cards and 3 game ban. Line-ups in full are…

Chelsea XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole; Ramires, Lampard, McEachran; Benayoun, Torres, Anelka

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; Gutierrez, Barton, R Taylor, Ferguson; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all the days games until young Greghammer gets teary eyed as the Fantasy Premier League bonus points roll in. Whether that’s through seeing his side getting relegated or captaining Thomas Vermaelen (or both) is yet to be seen.

    Date Out In GW
    13 May 21:55 Van der Vaart (9.0) Kuyt (9.5) 37
    7 May 10:51 Hangeland (5.7) Dawson (5.2) 36

Possibly the two worst transfers I've done (I benched Dawson for this week too)

All week I said I'm bringing in NZog, but when it came to it I played safe and went for Kuyt.

The three teams in 17th, 18th and 19th position are all away from home next week on the final day of the season: Stoke v Wigan, Man Utd v Blackpool and Tottenham v Birmingham. The two teams above them who are also in the relegation mix, Wolves and Birmingham, play each other. Anyone want to call the two teams who will join West Ham in the Premier League out of that little lot?

I can't see Birmingham getting a point at Spurs.

On oddschecker they are now 4/6 to go down, same as Wigan - hard to call as Stoke isn't a good place to be going.

My view is that Blackpool will get out of this with a draw at ManU.

Spurs don't score at home much, Birmingham don't score, Spurs have choked vs the smaller teams at home time after time and maybe without VDV I can definately see 0-0. Spurs may even want to avoid 5th and thus have no drive to score.

        Fail.

Hits are not a luxury to avail of - they need to be evaluated in terms of the profit potential for the following gameweeks compared to not taking the hit. It doesn't matter what your rival does.

Said all season that not all the Midlands teams are going to stay up so I reckon either Birmingham or Wolves to get relegated still, more likely to be Birmingham obviously.

I think Blues and Blackpool to go down! πŸ™

VDS will probably play in goal. Park definitely won't play. Nani might but I can see Obertan/Bebe playing. Fabio won't play. Brown or Rafael

OK lets not go nuts with shouts of obertan, de laet (whos on loan anyway) or bebe.
Fletcher may get som minutes under the belt, but I feel park will play an hour also to kkep him in touch (he didnt play a minute ay blackburn)
rafael will start the cl final at rb so babio and o'shea come in

          That's what I think personally.

          Maybe Fletcher.....

I strongly suspect it will be Owen's last game in a United shirt. Maybe Scholes and Brown too.

Took a drunken punt last night trying to get into the top 50.

    8 pointer to get:
    Djourou in for Luiz
    N'Zog in for Young
    Saurez in for Welbeck

Would've been better off with just the N'Zog one in the end. I reckon overall, this game tends to favour a conservative approach. The few times I've taken risks, they don't seem to come off.

You say that but I had to get Suarez in my team after seeing them demolish Fulham. To do this I took an 8 point hot Beckford, VDV and Huth out(should have done MAlouda!) for Suarez, Craddock and Nzogbia.

The last two came good for me!!

Nice one on the Craddock move. Looking like a very decent score for this week.

Hard to know, all things being equal id agree. But things are not always equal. This season ive taken punts and also stuck rather than twisted.

Im pretty sure my success rate is 50:50 either way. Today i gambled on malouda and also walcott, rather than Nzog. Clearly not a success! But this was actually partly to cover my rivals captaincies in case either Ars or Che went nuts (which didnt materialise).
