The Dugout Discussion kicks into gear for five more fixtures of our penultimate gameweek. unfortunately today’s television broadcasts are aimed in the direction of the only two games with “nothing left to play for” (don’t blame them too much, they have to make these commitments months in advance).

Later today Arsenal will have their final home game of another barren season versus Aston Villa for our viewing pleasure. Elsewhere in the four o’clock kick-offs Liverpool and Spurs will jostle for fifth place and a spot in the Europa league, West Ham travel to Wigan needing a victory for any faint hope of survival this year. That may not even be enough, if Birmingham can get just a point at home to Fulham at the same time then The Hammers are Championship bound.

But first we’ve got Chelsea playing host to Newcastle in a dead rubber fixture. Ancelotti keeps his word and Torres starts (alongside Nicolas Anelka and Yossi Benayoun) with Josh McEachran, Alex and Ramires also coming in. Alan Pardew keeps to his word and rests Cheikh Tiote for the remainder of the season to avoid a record 15 yellow cards and 3 game ban. Line-ups in full are…

Chelsea XI: Cech; Ivanovic, Terry, Alex, Cole; Ramires, Lampard, McEachran; Benayoun, Torres, Anelka

Newcastle XI: Krul; Simpson, S Taylor, Coloccini, Enrique; Gutierrez, Barton, R Taylor, Ferguson; Ameobi, Lovenkrands

The Dugout Discussion will be open through all the days games until young Greghammer gets teary eyed as the Fantasy Premier League bonus points roll in. Whether that’s through seeing his side getting relegated or captaining Thomas Vermaelen (or both) is yet to be seen.

Can't blame Grant alone for West Ham's demise. The seeds were sown before his arrival at the club.

For example, Kieron Dyer has cost WHU £23m since they bought him from Newcastle in 2007. He has played a total of 35 times, starting just 17 times and completing a full 90 minutes 3 times. He has scored no goals. West Ham are paying him £83,000 per week.

Have to blame Gold & Sullivan too.

They bullied Zola out of the club, then replaced him with a manager who they tried to sack just 6 months later.

The running of West Ham has been a total joke for years, Gold and Sullivan have just compounded the problem though.

Grant is a joke though, imagine his 'rousing' half time hair dryers?

It'll be interesting to see what impact, if any, West Ham's relegation will have on the post-2012 Olympic Stadium debate. Next season, the Hammers won't have top-flight status and will only be one division ahead of Leyton Orient, into whose catchment area they plan to move.

    Tevez
    Berbatov
    Fletcher
    DJ
    N'Zogbia

Not sure it's worth a 16 pointer involving getting rid of RVP 🙂

He's my favourite player, I know Messi is arguably better but the magic Ronaldo can pull off especially the free kicks blow my mind week in week out.

I also think his attitude contributes to his ability as his massive self confidence makes him try the impossible.

Seriously I reckon Nzogbia will get a big move whatever. I could see Jarvis maybe going to Villa to replace Young if he moves on, if Wolves go down or maybe Everton someone like that. Ba & Hitz will go abroad and Adam, I'm not sure, a mid table side?

In fairness the guy is well paid and has no loyalties to the club and will probably get a new 'backroom' job elsewhere. He knew he had little chance to keep em up with the overall quality of the side . Only manager this season who deserves sympathy is chris hughton and in the next few weeks, possibly neil warnock

I wouldn’t advise taking a hit for a defender when there’s only one week left for them to make a contribution to your side. The chances are fairly slim of you recouping the four points, never mind exceeding them. In the entire game there are only eight defenders with a points per game average of more then four.

Anyone made a remark on Karen Brady preaching from her high horse this time last week only to be relegated for the 3rd time in her career.

    No?

Great business management skills right there. Id love to see someone on the apprentice call her out next time she gives a sermon about someone under selling a cabbage.

She has ya. (sarcasm) 😛 Its only more efficiently relative to the last joke.

Offering huge contracts to a host of players. Giving out about the previous regimes over spending only to bring in Benni Mc Carty and make ridiculous contract offers to a host of other players

Oh and the sacking of Zola. Also then appointing Grant as his successor , and then failing to change things when the club was in free fall. Oh and then sacking Grant in a hall in wigan 5min after the game

Its all a laughable disgrace on its own. Then theres her Birmingham career.

And thats before we even get to her role on The Apprentice now as some form of expert when you consider her running of football clubs is the definition of dire.
