While we’re always hesitant to rely on the ever-growing influence of Twitter, a recent tweet this evening has revealed some nuggets of team news ahead of tomorrow night’s City vs Stoke clash. The update from Daily Mail correspondent Ian Ladyman states that City will be without Mario Balotelli for the Eastlands meeting with Stoke but, perhaps more significantly, David Silva is rated as a doubt with a knee injury.

The Spanish playmaker was a popular pick ahead of City’s double fixture in gameweek 36, with Fantasy Managers holding for tomorrow night’s potentially profitable home encounter with the Potters. Rotation following Saturday’s FA Cup final was always likely to be a threat and it now appears that Silva is also carrying a knock that will make him an even more likely absentee.

Balotelli’s absence will likely see a start for Edin Dzeko up front with Ladyman also revealing that Carlos Tevez is set for a bench role. Adam Johnson looks set to come into the starting lineup on the right-flank and, there’s every possibility that Aleksandar Kolarov could be given a start on the left with Pablo Zabaleta covering at full-back. Shaun Wright-Phillips or James Milner offer Roberto Mancini further options.

Stoke City are also expected to shuffle their lineup for tomorrow evening’s game following Saturday’s exertions. Both Robert Huth and Matt Ethrington will be concerns having been patched up for the Cup Final, while Jermaine Pennant is a reported doubt with an ankle knock.

We can expect further news from both camps tomorrow of course.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

That would be an ironic twist...if Kolarov plays left mid and wins me the league over Granville.

it's definitely an option. the fear i have with him is the very best case scenario seems to be 11 points (goal, clean sheet and 3bps). yeah 11 would be great but a player who at least has a history of multiple assists and goals is more tempting. just not sure who that player is πŸ˜‰

ya, w/players rested it will be tough to tell. also debating between berba/adam. i think united will field a reserve side that will give blackpool some hope of nabbing at least a point. that and i think sir alex would like to see blackpool/holloway stay up.

No offence to Birmingham fans, but I so hope they get relegated, I really don't want to have to watch them next season. I think, from a style of football perspective, they most closely resemble a puss filled, cancer ridden blister. No one likes a blister.

I would recomend not spending the last move of the season on a defender..I think you`ll still be able to field 3 def next game, even though the points might be scarce. I do not see any defenders standing out for this week. Maybe you can swap Johnson or VDV(if injured) for a better option MF instead, or if you really want to get a defender for Luiz i`d go for one of the Wolves guys (Craddock or Elokobi against Blackburn) or maybe R. Huth

I'd say Dawson was the best defender to get.

Birmingham can't score and are away which is a recipe for disaster.

I think the defenders with best chance of clean sheets are the ones playing in games between 2 teams with nothing left to play for. Sunday afternoon kick around and by half time both sides just want to go home and get their golf bags ready for the summer.

I agree about not spending transfer on a def though. I did this week, against popular opinion on this sight I hasten to add and my Baines to Luiz transfer did me naff all.

Would've definitely been assured of Walker's points off the bench if I'd have just left Luiz in, instead of sweating on hoping Huth's not playing now.

Morning, Berbatov sounds a good punt for me this week, especially with Saha still sitting on my bench

Wish I could afford chich to berbs but πŸ™ Sad face NOT

I think berbs will wanna get the golden boot and will play the full 90 against a blackpool team that will be all out attacking to try and get a result!

O Hara against a weak blackburn team could be ok.. Not sure....

Rival related rant alert, feel free not to read!

It seems inevitable my rival will catch me. He's been creeping up on me and is now within 17 points. My team has been destroyed by injuries & supsensions. Tonight I have Silva, Yaya and Huth, with Balotelli on the bench.

    He has Yaya and kolarov

So I have 4 players, he has 2.. but it looks like 1 of mine starts and both of his. He also has walker third sub who will come on for luiz because smalling (his first sub) didnt play

To top that off, the players I had which he didn't have are as follows:

Glen Johnson - had to buy because i had 2 suspended plus huth, luiz and coleman - did nothing as liverpool played badly

Van Persie (c) for me - hit the bar & was denied a penalty

    Nani - hit the bar.

And HIS captain was lampard who somehow got a fluky assist and the stupidest bonus point EVER

    OK, end of rant.

It's not a bad rant Scored, but I still feel you have so much more to offer. The examiners will be looking for greater expansion in your cognative thinking if you intend to have a top grade as you approach the finals. Certainly a fair first effort so don't be downhearted. πŸ™‚

Too many Man City players from the dgw.

Leads are hard to make up in the last gw anyway. Form pretty much goes out of the window, players motivation isn't always apparent, and freak results are more likely.

Plus players who have been rotation proof all season can get rested. And there are fewer differentials for the one whose chasing to choose from.

The advantage, in my opinion anyway, is with the person going into the last day with the lead.

I actually bought those 3 man city players prior to the west ham game (balotelli a week before that, oops) thinking they'd do well there and then lead into the dgw! This was before all the talk of suspension and before Mario got dropped.

Would've sold one prior to this week but everyone seemed to get injured or suspended.

anyway, pretty sure he's gonna catch me, I feel it!

I find these rival rants interesting. Myself, I have ascended to a higher plane where I'm more interested in the world rankings. That may be more to do with only having 70 euro prize money available in my league though!

Higher plane. Haha you snob πŸ˜‰

That's been my attitude all season but this guy was posting gloating remarks on Facebook when he was 40 points ahead, after which I went 70 ahead of him. And now he's clawed most of it back.

I don't live in UK now so this is a main source of banter between me and old mates

    gibson berbatov tevez in
    for a 4pt hit?

Wait to see what happens tonight. Is Tevez 1 or 2 behind Berba? (I know they took one off Berba, but did they take one off Tevez too?).

If Tevez scores tonight, and so has a real good chance of getting the golden boot, I'd be tempted to get him in for a hit.

tevez is 2 behind at the moment, a brace tonight would set it up nicely

hmmm, I like A if tevez is a starter. I hadn't even thought of Gibson... to be fair I have no idea if he's a good option but I'm sure you've looked into it.

Very hard to know. Leaving transfers to last minute. Is there a case for saying that Liverpool will want a backlash after last week's shocker? That game could finish 4-4.

Ohhh, if Silva misses out I'd get VDV off the bench, so quite happy with that. Just hope it's not a 1 point cameo. Silva missing out would actually be amazing if it means Lolarov will have to play left wing.

Silva out - VdV in - 6 points...
Kolarov out - Hughes in - 6 points...

What about only selling rooney and balotelli. Not sure you need to sell three.
