The league’s top two dominate the upper echelons of this week’s Captain Poll as Man City and Liverpool prepare for very favourable home games against West Ham and Newcastle respectively. With both sides set to go on the attack, Luis Suarez, Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero are joined by Chelsea’s Eden Hazard ahead of a trip to relegated Cardiff:

We take the top five in this week’s Captain Poll as our starting point and construct a members table based around a number of their key statistics in order to flag up any other players offering a similar sort of threat in recent matches.

If it means getting a player who would play full 90mins against an easier opponent and has a better chance of scoring..then why not..else stick with him...but I don't think Ramsey will play full 90mins

For people who have been doing this longer than me - do you think there are any trends for last days of the season? Such as:

Do relegated teams playing at home do well? Do they go for goals or for a win? Or are they dejected and suck?

Do home teams win at a higher rate than normal because teams want to put on a show for fans?

Do most safe teams mix up their squad the way Sunderland says they will?

Anything to expect other than expect the unexpected?

I'd just like to point out how well Javi Garcia has stepped up towards the end of this season. Earlier on, having him in the starting lineup was seen as a disaster waiting to happen. But in these past few games, he's really surprised me, how well he's slotted in been a composed player and responsible on the ball.

Granville complaining about his subs' performance. I just had a look at my own Gargatron, 37 from autosubs compared to 291 from unused subs must be down there among the worst, or what?

Reposting since bottom of last page

    Hey fellow scouts

Is Ramsey ready to play? What change do you think I should do to my team? Got one FT.

    Adrian - Davis
    Cahill - Zabaleta - Chester - Ward - Jones
    Sterling - Toure - Ramsey - Barkley - Salah
    Suarez - Sturridge - Dzeko

I'm thinking about lining a 3-4-3 with the strikers and keeper unchanged. If Ramsey plays, I think I will sub Jones. If he's injured, I'll sub Ramsey and play with Ward. Sounds sensible?

Nope he plays Nasri usually over Navas, plus Navas is just coming back from injury! Also I think he'll play Garcia over Ferna

So what lessons have we learned FPL- wise from this season? What will you do differently next season? Here are 3.

    1. GW1 squad. Don't punt on too many unproven PL players. I went with Coutinho, Mirallas and Soldado early doors. It was ugly. Although always nice to get on a Michu bandwagon from the off, these seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

    2. Wildcard. I always play my WC early doors (before GW5). I think there is more merit in taking a big hit (12, 16 Pts whatever) to clear out the deadwood and save the WC for later. I have no stats to back up this change in approach, but will give it a shot nonetheless.

    3. Don't be stubborn, or think you know better, when a previously poor fantasy prospect starts racking up the points like Ramsey or Yaya. Drop whatever you're doing and climb aboard!

He did get a couple early doors from the spot, you are right, but I could have had Sturridge for more or less the same price, or Giroud for less.

Agree with all. A point you missed out in the second is that an early WC always helps in catching the bandwagons, hence catching the price rises

For sure, you are right. Especially over the international breaks, and when there are some monster scores in the previous gameweek. However I think this could be covered just as well with some big points hits, and saving the WC for later.

I'm the opposite to you with regard to point 2 but am considering switching the other way.

I feel I gained relatively little on rivals with my second WC as others could build up to get DGWers in whereas I couldn't afford all the players I wanted when I did play it.

My rival has 5M team value higher than me, which has made the end of season a real challenge for me, whilst this is partially due to me not jumping on bandwagons and holding falling players, it is also due to me saving my WC, forcing me to do those things rather than jump on early bandwagons and take the huge value gains with it.

I think some "strategic" and regular hits can get you the funds you need for when you do decide to play your WC. I remember reading on here about some players who regularly achieve top 5k finishes by adopting this tactic.

At the same time, regarding point 3, if you were an economist, you might perceive this season as a blip and things will revert to the norm next season.

Looking forward to seeing that green empty field with 15 spots to fill already 😀

Hey Connor, I have had a bit of a meh season, seem to be getting worse at this game as time progresses!

I was considering starting GW2 to have a better idea of who was on form. But then I came to my senses and realized it's actually quite a dumbass idea 😀

I have never played my WC later on in the season so the comments from the other folks are interesting. Getting off to a good start will certainly help with that decision. Although in years when I have started well, I have used it early just to consolidate the high rank. We shall see..

Aguero news change everything for me (planning Chester -> Baines, Aguero ->Dzeko, Rooney -> Sturridge), so now I have this team, which must help me to climb for top 10k (curren rank - 10 700 🙂 )

    Mannone
Ivanovic - Evra - Zabaleta (Ward, if Evra don`t play)
Eriksen - YaYa - Mata - Sterling (Puncheon, if Mata don`t play)
    Suarez (c) - Sturridge - Aguero

    Ramsey
    Aguero
    Mata
    Evra
    Mertesacker (possibly rested)
    Wickham (injured/rested)

Which 2 or 3 players should I look to move on?

I'm ok with taking a -8 this week if need be.
