The Fantasy Football Scout Cup IV concludes tomorrow as the Premier League season draws to a close. Nine weeks of hard work (and considerable good fortune) has left us with two Fantasy Managers battling it out for the top prize of a £150 Amazon gift voucher (and a consolation prize of a £75 voucher). So let’s meet our finalists…

Finalist #1 – Ninja_Fit_Saints

We’ve never had a fixture at such a late stage be decided on overall rank, but that’s exactly what happened when Ninja_Fit_Saints met redsareback in the Semi-Finals. Both sides finished tied on 63 points each, with Ninja_Fit_Saints’ rank of 1,377th in the world eventually eliminating his opponent. Demba Ba was his star performer, as Charles N’Zogbia scored well for both.

A sequence of 16 straight green arrows has seen Ninja_Fit_Saints storm up to his lofty ranking from a humble 319,527th overall going into Gameweek 22. The latter part of that sequence has coincided with this incredible run in the FFS Cup IV.

He stormed into the first round after finishing 7th in the qualifying round of over 1600 entrants. Continuing his strong start he dismissed bigfootisblurry and TheFlyingDutchman with ease, before coming up against his first real test in round three against maximo78. That was one of two one-point victories in the space of three rounds, with the second against Clogger in the round of 16. Sandwiched between them was a drubbing of Bluevikings and finally, before his Semi-Final showdown with redsareback was win over elana_s in the Quarters.

Finalist #2 – Biscanators

Unlike Ninja_Fit_Saints, Biscanators eased into the Grand Final last week, courtesy of a 62 – 50 win over Mr. Hat. Sitting 2,286th in the world, Biscanators goes into the Final as an underdog, albeit a very slight one.

He too has been on brilliant green arrow streak, notching 11 on-the-trot. Not quite as astronomical a rise as his opponent, but he’s climbed up from 55,652nd in that time period.

His qualifying round performance was nowhere near as convincing as Ninja_Fit_Saints’ though, finishing 510th and barely making the first round. There was nothing close about his first round fixture however, smashing radiolazy by almost doubling his score. He also eased past beehind the magic in round three and joeforristal in the fourth. He had three narrow wins on his way to the Final, beating daniel.mf by five points in the Quarters and edging JWF and M by identical 55 – 53 scores in the second and sixth rounds respectively.

It promises to be an open Grand Final, with only six players (Ben Foster, David Luiz, Roger Johnson, Leighton Baines, Frank Lampard and Robin van Persie) cancelling each other out. With the final day of the season a lottery as it is, it really could go either way.

There’s also the small matter of the third place play-off between the beaten Semi-Finalists, redsareback and Mr. Hat. There’s only pride at stake, but a podium finish offers plenty of incentive to end the season on a high.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in congratulating both our finalists on reaching this stage, and wish them the best of luck in the Grand Final tomorrow. I’ll bring you news of the outcome next week.

    Sczcesny (al Habsi)
    Hangeland, Luiz, Walker (Coleman, Evatt)
Lampard, Adam, N Zog, Yaya, Silva
    Rooney, RVP (Zamora)

Gonna do Roo to Berb for the free. Do you think I need to take any hits? If I could do Zamora to Tevez I would do it but can't afford.

Chasing a 9 point deficit. Help!

Bonus! Just looked at my rivals transfer fund and I'm 99.9% sure I have worked out his transfer.

I reckon he's taken out Drogs for Tevez who I would almost guarantee he'll catain so the question is this guys:

    With a 40+ pt lead:
    A) Match the transfer he's very likely done and almost certainly win my minil league?
    B) Act like nothing's happened and do my own thing? Don't really fancy Tevez tomorrow and am thinking Berba as the better transfer and armband wearer.

I want to improve my ranking (just above 100k) but I'm desperate to beat my smug rival.

    Thoughts?

So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

    My front line:

    Malouda Adam VDV Silva Kuyt
    RVP Bent Odem

    Rivals front line:

    Kuyt Barton Nani Yaya VDV
    RVP Odem Drogba

My rival (9 points ahead) is taking two hits.

I guess he transfered VDV, Drgoba and Odem out, and transfered Berba, Tevez and N'Zog inn. Looks like that from his founds. Thre problem is I was thinking about bringing inn those players, so I'm abit at a loss here now. Any help would be great.

so assuming your defences cancel each other out your game comes down to:

      Malouda Adam VdV Silva
      Bent Odem

      vs

      Nani Yaya Zog (Barton)
      Berb Tevez

and he has a 1pt lead when u take the hits into account.

As things stand you will lose because you have 2 players not playing.

If you match his transfers you will 9 pts beihnd and the situation will become:

      (Malouda?) Adam Silva
      vs
      Nani Yaya (Barton)

Thats closer but and i think u 25% of catching up. but its not optimal because you will have a very strong sub who wont play.

Therefore, I think match 1 of his transfers, you can leave one of VdV or Odem on the bench. Bent is not a bad player to have in the side so keep him. You have silva already so maybe forget the tevez switch. Id be doing Odem to Berb. Then you are 1pts behind:

      Malouda Adam (VdV) Silva
      Bent
      vs
      Nani Yaya Zog (Barton)
      Tevez

and let it come down to captain choices. I think you have a 50% chance with that set up

My defence: Cech (Al-Habsi) R.Johnson Dawson Shawcross (Djourou, Baird)
Hisdefence: Begovic (Foster) R.Johnson Bardsley Tamas (Vidic, Djourou)

Can't be sure he did those three transfers, but they seem logical. When I did some calculating, I missed off with 0.1 in value, but I might have missed, so I think he did those three.

your defence should outscore his. its a very tricky one. there are many permutations but if u take no hits you are essentially even and it just comes down to 1 week. you may want to cover zog, it just depends whether u think your mids can outscore his which i say u have a pretty good chance alerady

Yes, 4-4-2 almost nailed on. Crouch and Defoe most likely in my opinion. I had considered Defoe but it is risky and I don't need the risk. Could get easily get a brace if he responds to the criticism from Harry in the week.

Both my rivals have nani, probably Berba and maybe Tevaz(Will need to take points hit)

Who do people want to go up from Reading* and Swansea? Reading* players used to do well for me on FPL, don't know too much about Swansea. Would they be whipping boys?

*Don't do the Reading/reading a book joke. It's been done, it's achieved all the half hearted lulz it will ever achieve.

Good footballing side Swansea, I reckon they could find three worse sides than them should they go up. Not sure on Reading, they have the form to beat Swansea but may struggle more in prem. Should be a good game.

    Defoe first goalscorer 9/2

With Redknapp coming out and saying he needs to score more goals, and with vDV being out. Can't help but think those are good odds. Even though as a Spurs fan i think it'll be a low scoring draw.

12 points ahead of my rival, he's made 3 transfers this week, so 20 points ahead now. Do I stick with my team which I'm reasonably happy with or make a few transfers to strengthen it? my team is looking like this at the moment : -

    Schwarzer
    Luiz / Kolorov / Walker
    N'zogbia / Lampard / Silva or Yaya / Barton
Van Persie / Rooney / Suarez

Definitely going to do Rooney to Berbatov but do I need to make any more? you're help is much appreciated.

He has Modric and Nani, they're the only players I'm worried about and my defence isn't the strongest but I can't see there being many clean sheets tomorrow anyway. I'm considering bringing in Anderson for Yaya, what do you think?

I would bring Modric in for a midfielder he does not have. Anderson is too much of a risk if you are leading imo. Modric will be on pens, has a good fixture at home on the last day of the season. All this against a rocking opposition.

I would. It depends how much of a risk you think the differential is.

I also think Modric is almost guaranteed bps if Spurs win, and he is on pens. I also think he is more of a threat when VDV is out of the side as he has more chances of assists imo.

I have a 45 point lead. Should I be looking behind me at all. I am 95% sure rival has brought in Tevez and will give him the armband. I have brought in Berbatov (c). Is Suarez to Tevez worth the hit? Berbatov would retain the armband.

I wouldn't. Not if you're looking for a higher rank anyway. Getting Tevez in would more or less guarantee he doesn't catch you though.

That is my exact dilemma. I am looking for a higher rank but would be devastated if I lost my league lead. I have been up there almost all season. Also, Suarez to Tevez is not the maddest transfer for a hit and it could pay off anyway.

Any idea what I should do with my team?

    Foster Al-habsi
    Baines Luiz Smalling Djourou Simpson
    N'Zogbia Adam Kuyt Silva VDV
    Suarez RVP Sturridge
    £1.1m in the bank

I know VDV is out, and Silva, Djourou, Smalling and Luiz might not play.

I wanted to bring in both Tevez and Berbatov for Suarez and Sturridge but I would have to take out VDV for a player of 4.2 or less (should've done this earlier in the week). This would be an 8 point hit.
Otherwise I can just get Berbatov for Suarez or DJ Campbell/Fletcher for Sturridge for no hit

Smalling will play, Djourou/Luiz probably not, who knows with Silva.

Sturridge will play, and can score, Suarez the same, where you have potentially 4 out, then you need to replace them. Midfield options aren't great to replace VDV, you have Nani/O'Hara/Modric who will all do a job (and yeah, I think Nani will start), and if you want to burn points I would rather burn them on Suarez and bring in Berbatov over Tevez

Goddang, Tevez went up last night despite being "protected" on TotalFPL, I like the site but I have been burned more times than not on players going up when they were "protected" this season, I know it can't be foolproof but if it is not at least relatively accurate what's the point in using it.

Bloody hell, have to take an 8 point hit if I want Tevez now. Do I want Tevez though?

Problem with that site is they don't remove the protection so it really only means they are or were protected. You have a few potential problems I think, obv Odem out but also Huth, Luis and Malouda doubts/risks. That hit may be needed.
