We’ve another four matches to look forward to this evening as the group stages continue to wrap up. England, of course, already know their fate after losing both opening matches, whilst tonight’s opponents Costa Rica are through to the knockouts after serving up back-to-back wins over Uruguay and Italy to stun the football world:

Costa Rica: Navas; Gamboa, Duarte, Gonzalez, Miller, Diaz; Ruiz, Borges, Tejeda, Brenes; Campbell

England: Foster; Jones, Cahill, Smalling, Shaw; Lampard, Wilshere; Milner, Barkley Lallana; Sturridge

The Costa Ricans make two changes from the side that defeated Italy last week. At the back, Jorge Luis Pinto brings in Roy Miller for Michael Umana, whilst further up the pitch, Christian Bolanos drops out for Randall Brenes in what looks a continuation of the 5-4-1 formation which has proven so successful.

As announced yesterday, Roy Hodgson makes nine changes from the team that lost to Uruguay as England attempt to avoid the ignominy of finishing rock-bottom of Group D. Only Daniel Sturridge and Gary Cahill keep their places for the Three Lions as Hodgson hands his squad members the chance to impress.

Uruguay: Muslera; Caceres, Gimenez, Godin, Pereira; Rodriguez, Arevalo Rios, Gonzalez; Lodeiro; Suarez,Cavani,

Italy: Buffon; Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini; De Sciglio, Pirlo, Verratti, Marchisio, Darmian; Balotelli, Immobile

Uruguay are unchanged from the side that beat England 2-1 last week. Oscar Tabarez’ side will line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation once again, with Nicolas Lodeiro tucked in behind Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez, as the latter looks to replicate his match-winning brace against Hodgson’s side and fire his team into the last 16.

Cesare Prandelli’s side need only a draw against the South Americans to secure second spot. The Italians make four changes from their Matchday two loss to Costa Rica and bring in Mattia De Sciglio, Leonardo Bonucci, Marco Verratti and Ciro Immobile in what seems to be a 3-5-2 formation, with the latter partnering Mario Balotelli up top.

In the 9pm matches, Columbia look to finish Group C with a 100% record. The South Americans will be hoping James Rodriguez can maintain the form that has seen him score in each of his first two appearances, while Juan Cuadrado (three assists) and Teofilo Gutierrez (a goal and assist) also carry a major threat against Japan – Fantasy managers will be hoping that reports of rest and rotation turn out to be inaccurate.

The other game in Group C sees Ivory Coast square up to a Greece side that failed to find the net in their opening two matches. While a draw may well be enough for the Africans to progress, Sabri Lamouchi’s men will want to serve up a strong display after narrowly losing to the Colombians in Matchday 2 – Gervinho has notched in both their games so far and is the one guaranteed starter in the front three, though Lamouchi could turn to the experience of Didier Drogba to lead the line this time, having utilised the former Chelsea man as a sub in the first couple of matches.

        Also,

I enjoyed your betting cash out,

        Elation (from cash out),
Further elation (when it goes 2-1)
Severe depression (2-2 in the last minute)

        Entertaining!

There was no severe depression, i was actually happy I made a tidy profit...

But if you want to remember it that way dont let me stop you. People discuss their bets on here. They brag when they win and let off steam when they dont.

You are a pretty sad individual if that entertains you.

When I go somewhere i don't make the decision based on how hot or cold it is.

I wouldn't not go to Iceland because its colder than Scotland or because I would have to pack an extra jumper or two

Scotland's poor weather is grossly exaggerated, particularly East Scotland. I spent a few years living in Cambridge, supposedly the driest place in the UK, and it wasn't a whole lot different to the weather in Dundee

same here Pork Pie. I live in Wales and it rains all the time here. When I complained to my workmate about it he checked the difference in the amount of rainfall between Cardiff and Edinburgh and it was pretty much the same. They have slightly better summers but other than that there is no real difference.

Summers are slightly warmer yeah, but further North gets more daylight hours in the summer, which is great (still a bit light outside right now). Winters are horrendous though, dark at 3.30pm, sunrise at 8am. Hate it

Italy - First game in Manaus, lost next two favourites both times.
England - First game in Manaus, lost next game, drew third with a completely different team, favourites both times.
Croatia - Second game in Manaus, lost next game. Were favourites.
Cameroon also lost their only game after Manaus although they were expected to lose.

Will be interesting to see how the USA and Portugal fare, conditions can't be underestimated.

I don't fancy Switzerland's chances if they qualify to play Argentina in the last 16 then.

I notice that Brazil and Argentina don't get to play in Manaus - the only American countries to do so are USA and Honduras - it's a fix!

I suppose it gives England a bit of an excuse for their disappointing performance though.

In the final Swiss training session before tomorrow's game, Ottmar Hitzfeld split his squad into an 'A' team and a 'B' team. In the previous two matches, this 'A' team has gone on to be their starting eleven.

So the Swiss team for tomorrow looks like being:

Benaglio; Lichtsteiner, Schär, Djourou, Rodriguez; Behrami, Inler; Shaqiri, Xhaka, Mehmedi; Drmić

I'd love to see him in the prem, but who particularly needs a playmaker like that right now that could afford him?

Plus I imagine he is on a filthy salary in Monaco...

Does anyone reckon the Scout will do a short article on the Sun game transfers? Transfers become active in a few hours and most of the people I have talked too have no idea if they count for the remaining fixtures as well as knockout stages etc.

      Got this reply earlier;

      Thank you for contacting us.

The transfers that you make during the transfer window will not take effect until the window has closed. Therefore any points that your current players score during the transfer window will still count for your team.

      Kind regards,

Cheers Demi, clears that up nicely.

No need to rush things until the very deadline then!

Time to go heavy hitting in the forwards/midfield and leave he defence woefully bare methinks.

Question from the castrol predictor game for tomorrow:

Which team will commit more fouls? Switzerland more or equal to Honduras 15% Honduras 85%.

15% of people read questions wrong or can't read or play this game and don't watch football

Honduras will commit the most fouls. Seems to be their best option instead of playing football.

General Q for the Fantasy iteam game which I should know the answer to by now but don't...

If you transfer out your captain after they've played and scored points do you retain the doubled points? So for example Neymar has 24(c) this week, if i transfer him out do I retain the 24 or does it revert to 12.

    Cheers

I'm an Aussie travelling to the UK in August to visit family in Harrogate. Would love to catch an EPL game whilst there and thought I'd start with the most desirable option City hosting Liverpool on the 23/8. Can anyone suggest the best way to get my hands on some tickets?

It was in the GW2 match the BBC discussed him at length including his name with "Terry Henry" who emphasised the importance of calling the player by his given name bot as it looks.
