The waiting is finally over. Just three days after the World Cup came to a conclusion on Sunday evening, our thoughts immediately focus on domestic matters after Fantasy Premier League (FPL) opened its doors once again this afternoon:

This morning’s release of the Player Price List heightened our anticipation – only three midfielders and four forwards are priced above the 10.0 barrier, with Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez the subject of much interest after he was classified as a midfielder for the season ahead.

There are changes to how the Bonus Point System (BPS) is calculated, too. Essentially, every previous statistic which factored towards a player’s BPS score is now multiplied by three – a forward earns 24 points towards his BPS score, for example, instead of eight in 2013/14, whilst a shot off target takes a single point from a player’s BPS score; previously, the system only deducted a point for every three wayward efforts.

A new factor introduced to the BPS is the decision to reward players for successful dribbles. Full-backs and wide men who are willing to take on opponents are now smiled upon favourably here – they earn a single point towards their BPS total, the same as providing a key pass. These new tweaks should hopefully prevent situations where, as we saw many times last term, numerous players picked up bonus points in the same match.

Fantasy managers now have the chance to assemble our 15-man squads with just a month until the campaign gets underway on Saturday August 16, where the early lunchtime kick-off sees United and Swansea go head-to-head in Louis Van Gaal’s first official match in charge.

As always, we’ll be rolling out a series of articles on the Player Price List over the coming days, breaking them down by position.

For now, this is just a heads-up. Enjoy tinkering, everyone!

Despite posts to the contrary, yes it is easy to pick a good team but that doesn't mean the game is easier. You are admiring your great team and then it dawns on you who you haven't got 😐

It is impossible to get attacking coverage from all of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and man City; and then you want both mids and strikers so whoever you get you are facing huge damage from the players you don't have, with several big hitters still to be added. And that's before you even think about getting any defenders over £5m,

Exactly this, a lot of tight decisions to be made (Ozil/Ramsey/Sanchez, Fabregas/Hazard etc). Some may turn out to be unimportant as scores are similar, with others it could be that one flops and the other doesn't.

My worry. If everyone is affordable it will make template teams even easier to create, as no-one has to worry too much about cash.

Also it renders budget options almost obsolete so you end up picking from a small quota of succesful mid-value players.

I think it's because FPL Towers feels like all of the 9m players are at the same level, same with the 8.5m and 10m but the gap in potential points between the 9m and 10m far exceeds the gap between 8.5m and 9m, It makes sense to me!

What players would you have at the 9.5m value?

Can't see where Albrighton fits into Leicester's starting XI if I'm completely honest. Convinced Knockaert and Mahrez are the first choice wide men. Reckon he'll be another Jerome Thomas - where he becomes a template player through guesswork.

Had to free up another 0.5 for my fifth choice midfielder.

Because Suarez, aside from nabbing assists and scoring a lot of goals, is a big concern for defences. Even having a player like that making runs and generally distracting defenders (perhaps with a little nibble) offers Sterling a lot of opportunity.

As well as this we have CL competition, Markovic plays the same position so may be an annoyance in that regard as well (although I anticipate him playing the other wing forward role). Finally, without Suarez BR may look to curb the ultra attacking philosophy and improve the defensive philosophy. Sterling, at 8.5, is too much.

Markovic doesn't really play the same position, he's more of a second forward even if he plays as a winger. And they can both play left and right.

Sterling scored the same points as Eriksen yet he's in the majority of teams.

Sterling is growing as a player each year, especially so with the World Cup experience under his belt.

Only looking at last years stats/results will not help you make the best decision. Sterling looks like he is improving greatly as a player and will need to step up. Ore without Suarez which could very well be a positive catalyst.

He can do, but, frankly I'd be nervous as hell if he plays there every week. CB is his best position.

Simpson should be nailed at RB. Personally, I'd play Yun at LB but Harry doesn't seem to trust him defensively so either he plays Traore there instead or we get a new LB. Sure as hell can't play Hill there, that's just asking for trouble.

Why would anyone go near Kun? Obviously because he's fantastic, but I just feel he's gonna be injured a lot again next season. He hasn't been right for many months.

Bump into this. Can anyone explain this to me?

    Arsenal:
    ------------
    Perfect Rotation: Tottenham (38 games)
Good: West Ham (34 games), QPR (30), Aston Villa (28)
Poor: Crystal Palace (4 games), Chelsea (8), WBA (10)

      Home/away rotation.

So, whenever Arsenal play at home, Tottenham play away, and vice-versa.

34/38 games, Arsenal alternate home/away with West Ham, QPR and Aston Villa.

      etc

It looks like Home Away rotation to me. When one team is at home the other is away.

The police dont allow Spurs and Arse to play at home at same time.

    RMT

    DDG 4.0

    Terry Coloccini Cameron Chambers Figueroa

    Sanchez Hazard Mata Arnautovic Albrighton

    Rooney Giroud Jelavic

0.5 left in the bank. I'm looking to make a quick start and will probably wildcard early on. Any suggestions?

Im looking at that exact same frontline tbh.
Chambers and figueroa nailed? Could cause problems.
Other than that I quite like it

The consensus atm seems to be that Chambers will start at right back with Clyne on the left. Do you think Bruce and/or Chester are ahead of Figueroa?

You really think Terry will be playing every week.

Sanchez and Giroud could be mutually exclusive in terms of being successful as Arse on play with 1 up front.

I'm pretty confident he'll be starting the first few fixtures but I'm still 50/50 between him and Cahill. Like I say I plan to wildcard pretty early on just want to get off to a fast start.

I think Giroud will start upfront with Sanchez out wide, hopefully pre season will give us a bit of a clue
