Versus – Low to Mid-Price Midfielders

With the season now just a fortnight away, we turn our attentions to a number of kindly priced midfielders in our latest article for members. Picking the right combinations in the mid-price bracket looks crucial to a strong start and with Fantasy managers debating the merits of a number of targets, we scour the statistics to assess their previous form.

For the purpose of this article, we’ve selected seven midfielders, no more than 6.5 in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, who have proven popular picks so far and/or are set for some favourable opening fixtures – potentially affording them the chance to hand us an early-season bandwagon. Comparing their respective statistics, we also dig deeper into seasons gone by in our attempt to ascertain the best options for our initial lineups.

    Im thinking see how jovetic gets on then if he starts to loose game time can get in a 6m striker and upgrade a 9m midfielder to either sanchez or yaya, whoever is performing better????

      Not sold on if Mannone will start yet but nearer time can always choose pantillimon. Maybe albrighton instead of wanyama.

        Mark said he might be implementing a tagging system, where posts will be tagged, say with an RMT tag, and users can then opt to filter out posts with those tags. Could be great if it happens.

      A as I think both Austin and fab will score consistent points throughout the season

      Dzeko is great but always a rotation threat when aguero negredo are fit.

      Arny has a lot to prove but had shown promise end of last season

          I'd want a better option than young, think shaw will start ahead of him.

          Tadic I think will do well.

          Maybe spread the budget of your defence a bit, although saying that you'll have three starters every week

    3rd striker is Rooney, also playing a 3-5-2 system with 5 premium midfielders. So third striker won't play regularly.

    Is no one choosing Zarate in their team? I'm a Birmingham City fan and he played amazing when he was with us a few years ago, if he is the same player (or if he has improved) he would be a very good player next season. I suppose £6.5 is quite high though.

        Not sure. The arguments for strength in the forwards are that it's harder for strikers to pick up consistent points - more a case of famine or feast - and with limited places you're more susceptible to injuries or players falling out of favour.
