With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Athletico Timbo’s RMT.

Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Terry, Ben Davies, Wisdom, Moore
Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Albrighton
Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor.

0.5 in the bank

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

The Krul Mannone rotation is a key issue there. Personally I think there is always value in two 4.5m starting goalkeepers. On paper this looks great, but Mannone's game time worries me. I'm tempted to just bite the bullet and put him in and hope he can keep Pantillimon out. Its a risk worth taking as Krul is more than capable of filling in even in bad games. Both are great keepers at a rock bottom price.

Mannone game time worries me as well and I've been burned by non-playing GKs in the past (DDG, Federici). He's currently in my team but I might swap him for Foster or Guzan.

That seems to be the popular alternative. The problem for me though is that I don't fancy West Brom at all defensively. I can see Irvine being the first managerial casualty after a poor start to the season!

This is the one I favour because Foster is nailed on.

It concerns me that WBA's defence seems very injured ahora.

I agree, it's a risk with Mannone but I think I might keep faith with him. He was Sunderland's player of the year last season, surely Poyet won't forget that in a hurry.

ould I get some thoughts on this team?

    Mannone (Krul)

Luis, Ben Davies, Mariappa (Moore, Duff)

    Sanchez, Hazard, Mata, Siggy (Wanyama)

    Rooney, Sturridge, Bojan

Liking this squad as I have 5 potential captain options. Main concern for me is the question marks over starting positions in my defence.

      He looks solid tbh..
Maybe Ramsey instead of Sanchez just for a few gameweeks to see where Wenger plays him .
That way you can upstage it defence too.
I would pay the extra 0.5 for cahil or Terry Tbh.

I've been swapping betweem the two of them constantly but I think Sanchez OOP prospects just about justifies the extra 1.5. Plus if I decide to change my mind after the deadline, it's a lot easier to switch from Sanchez to Ramsey than the other way around.

Perfect midfield, Roons a must obviously.

Are you planning on keeping De Gea for the first few GW's and then downgrading him and upgrading GK2? Coz a non-starting GK isn't a great option.

Your defense is also slightly weak, but given your midfield that is a requirement, so a 3-5-2 option is all you can do.

Tbh I've already swapped Davies for Evans. You don't fancy the double Chelsea defence then SW6? Rotation is a worry but I just think with Costa in the team they'll be stronger at the back for it. Defence starts with the attack and all that 😀

I would prefer Begovic and a 4.0 (preferably Stokes other keeper, don't know his name) to that rotation. Both seem decent value but the rotation is horrible.

Newcastle are gash at the back, and Mannone now has serious threat from Pantillimon.

I would not go with Adebayor. Far too many issues surrounding him:
-he has malaria which is very debilitating and can be difficult to recover from
-Soldado may be first choice now
-It's a new manager anyway so we don't know what he will go with

Is Costa AND Rooney needed? With just the slightest of downgrades toy will still have three soild strikers and will have money to upgrade a player in defense maybe?

Even though Sturridge was a beast last season I would be weary of him this season. No Suarez in the team puts all the focus on him as the main man now. Also how many goals did Sturridge score off a Suraez re-bound, assist etc or just the defense putting a lot of emphasis on Suarez to stop him and leave Sturr open. I do expect a drop in form by him but to still do well. While I do expect him to do well I don't expect him to live up to his 11.5 price tag... Look at RVP last year. The year united won the title he was a hero at the club. Next season he was slapped with a 14.0 price tag and was pure dog due to injury after injury. I expect some of the same this season with Sturrudge (except more less form than injury... maybe both because he is injury prone!). I bet I am the only one in this mind frame! Or is there actually anybody thinking the same or thereabouts as I am or am I crazy to just shut Sturr out like that?

debatable about Costa since it his first season in England and he is the only top newcomer I am unsure of. Sanchez, Fab and Luis will all hit the ground running with their respective clubs and positions but not sure on Costa and would say Rooney is better value at the same price bracket

I'll be much the same if Siggy ends up in the hole, I seem to remember seeing him played on the flank in a pre season match, if that is the case then I may end up picking and choosing dependent on fixtures

Nice team provided Lukaku doesn't get the armband :-p . One change I might make is downgrade Costa to Dzeko maybe and get Ramsey for Eriksen and use the rest in the bank as you please. Maybe to get a better goalkeeper if you wish

Thanks, Really not sure on what Costa's output will be yet pts wise. If anything Costa could go to Bojan who seems to be in good nick atm, and upgrade Bruce to say Man U, Spurs or Chelsea def?=

Right, decided to take out any uncertainty by not having a Chelsea DEF.

    De Gea Elliot
    Ward Clyne Caulker Bartley Duff
    Sanchez Mata Eriksen Tadic Siggy
    Rooney Costa Bojan

    Bojan and Siggy will rotate.
Tadic and Clyne have a great set of opening fixtures and I am prepared to take the risk on Tadic.
    Caulker for attacking threat.

    Thoughts??

I like the team all round... even defense. Yes it is not the strongest but if rotated wisely using a 3-4-3 with one constant starter you will do good with it

My feeling if you are going down the Bojan route is that you may need a better fifth mid. Sigurdsson rotates perfectly with a Stoke attacker btw...worth considering.

I'm not sure about Paulinho...nice to see a different name in a RMT...but I'm not convinced he's a good FPL pick, with not many goals, assists or bonus in his locker.

No matter how many times I look at it. I don't feel the need of tinkering. The team is not perfect though. No room to bring in Sanchez if he goes berserk.

I'd swap out Costa if he does... plenty of £8/9.0 strikers about and by then we should know who's looking promising. (i.e. - Thinking city will have sorted out their starters and Ade will have decided if he wants to turn up for spurs!)

I don't like the midfield at all. Yaya is too expensive imo, Barkley also. Snod has Europa.
Attack is very week. Lambert won't start much.

      Is this auto- selected?
Just in case it's not - you need a couple of expensive mids or strikers as captaincy options, i'm not sure Yaya will cut it each week.
Rooney has some great early fixtures that you are missing out on.

    Begovic,
    Debuchy, Jones, Ward, Mariappa, Ferdinand
    Hazard, Ramsey, Mata, Siggy, 4.5m
    Rooney, Dzeko, Jovetic

I had to switch the defence around as I wanted Huth and a £4m but with no guarantee of him starting I went for the Palace/QPR rotation instead. Is Mariappa likely to be playing?
The two spots up top that keep changing are 4.5m and Jovetic.
I could have Giroud instead or switch it around and go with Nasri/Sterling/Eriksen as a fifth mid - completely undecided at the moment.

I think gwk 1 Jov and Dzeko is fine....they'll both get minutes and either are easy to swap for an emerging cheaper option. I'd avoid Ferdinand due to game time - he is very injury prone in his twilight years.

Thanks, I think City should get a few goals in their early fixtures but not sure how long Aguero is out for?
Maybe the defensive situation at Stoke will become clearer after their final friendly to save me from Ferdinand.

Ok, £6.0 midfielders. Your thoughts please gents...

Siggy - Seems to be number 1 at the moment... is this really justified? I'm just not sure how well Swansea are going to do this year? is Shelvey just as good an option at £5.5? Really trying to avoid the bandwagon!

Snodgrass - Hull have some cracking fixtures to begin with. He got 100+ last year with Norwich. Is he in for a better time of it this year?

Henderson - Can't believe I'm considering him but 124 points last season, a nailed on starter and has supposedly been given more licence to go forward.

Puncheon - Good points haul last year but a palace going to continue their end of season form?

Perhaps I should go for 2 of the above and invest any saving in defence?!?!

I really like this but would rather have only 1 of Bojan and Siggy starting as they rotate well.

I would do Kompany to Clyne/Caulker then spend the 1.5m upgrading Albrighton to a 6m maybe Snoddy.
