With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Next up is Athletico Timbo’s RMT.

Krul, Mannone
Cahill, Terry, Ben Davies, Wisdom, Moore
Mata, Eriksen, Ramsey, Sigurdsson, Albrighton
Rooney, Dzeko, Adebayor.

0.5 in the bank

Timbo tells us he is  happy with his midfield and attack but has major concerns at the back. John Terry and Gary Cahill are season keepers, and he feels they will play every week  but it’s the third defensive spot that worries him. Ideally he’d like another constant to play every week alongside his Chelsea duo so that he can use those precious transfers for more pressing matters, like jumping on the right bandwagons at the right time. He could be persuaded to have a couple of rotating cheap defenders instead of Ben Davies and Liam Moore – there’s a spare half a million floating around if that helps. Lastly, his goalkeeping combo seems to be collapsing around his ears. Is it too risky to stick with Vito Mannone? Should he go with David De Gea or is there something better out there?

Feel free to get stuck in with your feedback. We look forward to scanning your RMTs throughout the day on this article.

Not convinced about Luis, 0 goals 2 assists 6 yellows and 2 reds in la liga, may be consistantly alright performer but won't be raking in the points IMO

Thanks chaps. Gonna stick with Costa,. Stuck in Mata and Fabregas.

Stuck in Cahill, it was difficult to go with a 5.5 defender as wanted to leave 0.5 so ended up with Shawcross.

Hi all, it would be really interesting to understand where the money is being spent positionally by members of the site....to get the ball rolling i've started below...

    Team Value by Position

the aim was more to get an understanding of how the money has been divided up in each player's team, rather than to judge it based on the players.

For the record my team is

        GK-£8.5 million: Krul [Elliot]
DF-£26.5 million Cahill, Shaw, Caulker, Ward, Wisdom
MF-£37.5 million Hazard, Mata, Eriksen, Siggy, Albrighton
        AT-£27.5 million Rooney, Dzeko, Giroud

Better, but Skertel at 6.0 is still hard to justify I might just get a 4.5 def, (Chester seems to be the better option ATM) as you alredy have 3 big name defenders

With that money you could upgrade shelvy to Siggy, or Henderson. Even to Tadic, de Jong or Cabella

Me too. I want Sanchez but I don't want to kill my defense. At the same time Dzeko is a rotation risk (eventually). I'm wary of Liverpool's offense this year w/o Suarez (like everyone) but Sterling at 8.5m might be too good to pass up and the Bego upgrade could be worth it. Thanks, leaning towards A myself.

Maybe Barkley to Arnie (rotates well with Siggy, and Everton have a tough opening stretch) and switch Sanchez to Yaya? If you want a more reliable big hitter in the midfield and don't want Costa or someone like that up front, seems like Yaya would fit the bill

Just from a fixture perspective I think you've gone in too heavy with Everton. Appreciate they will likely rack up some points against Leicester in GW1 but after that they hit Arsenal and Chelsea away.. plus the derby with Liverpool not long after that. I just feel you'll end up wasting transfers subbing them out in an effort to bring in players with more favourable runs..

Relying on Krul alone seems risky to me so if you were going to spend I'd upgrade Myhill but to get a decent replacement you'd need to free up another 0.5m from somewhere else.. Personally I'd sacrifice one of your big (expensive hitters) and bolster other positions with the extra cash (Hazard for Fab would be a reasonable trade)

I usually go with 3 strong strikers, but I find it hard to find a 3rd striker I like, regardless of the price. Sturridge and Rooney don't just bring points, but they both are great captaincy options which is why I'm willing to pay their big fees.

Currently I'm waiting for Benteke to get fit, he's the only one for whom I'd shell out more than the bottom price as I see Ramsey and especially Mata as much better investments than similarly priced strikers.

About Vermaelen: if he's not fit to start the season or doesn't go to Man Utd, I'll go with another 5mil defender until Vermaelen is ready.

    Anyone see any major flaws?

Not balance given you have Studge and Rooney.

Personally I would downgrade a def, maybe Terry, so you don't have to rely on Wisdom/Bruce.

    Rooney, COSTA, Dzeko

Which team looks better - A or B?

Ah. Duh. You might not need to do anything then, I don't think the difference between Speroni and Bego will be huge but that's just me. I like Ward though.

Okay last one. Rejiggered it again and now have this.

    Bego (Gilks)
    Terry/Evans/Caulker (Chester/Moore) -- rotating Caulker and Chester
    Mata/Sterling/Eriksen/Siggy (Albrighton)
    Rooney/Costa/Dzeko

I think I'll be able to save my GW2 transfer with this group. Debated Evans or Debuchy so suggestions there would be nice.

Main concern here is the lack of a good bench MID but at the end of the day I want 3 strikers including Rooney and Costa, and none of the 8.0m or below guys interest me right now. Would rather have Dzeko/Siggy to start the year than some combo of Siggy/Arnie/Austin, in other words.

    Begovic (Gilks)
Azpilicueta, C Davies, Vlaar (Bruce, Wisdom)
    Lamela, Mata, Fabregas, Sanchez, (Albrighton)
    Rooney, Costa, Bojan

Not sure whether to switch lamela and albrighton for two 6mil priced midfielders

Another point: I would start with Mata for sure instead of either Cesc or Hazard.
Siggy is an FPL proven player for just 6M, who is on set pieces and will play behind the striker which is his ideal position

      Mata: fixtures, in the hole
Siggy: on set pieces, in the hole
Eriksen: proven, on set pieces, easy to switch to Lamela
Pelle: risky, would try to find funds to get Jovetic

I second everything Galatasaray said, FWIW. I think Austin could be nice value for 1.5 less than Pelle if you want to use that money in other places, though I could be an outlier here.

Definite starter will pick up a lot of clean sheet points from the defence and maybe the odd assist but there are probably better attacking threats in the 5.5M bracket. The other issue I'd have is when to start him and when not to

Hi everyone, my current team is shown below but I'm not happy with my attack... Please recommend some transfers to strengthen my forwards, even if it means relocating money from other parts of my team.

    GK: Mannone (Krul)

DEF: Shaw, Debuchy and Baines (Moore and Bruce)

MID: Eriksen, Mata, Fabregas, De Jong and Sanchez

ATT: Rooney and Austin ( Vaz Te)

Gotta keep an eye on Mannone w/ Pantilimon there, and I think you've got too much money in defense. Baines is the best in the game but his opening fixtures are tough and guys like Caulker, Ward, or Ben Davies (if he ends up nailed on) could be suitable replacements to start the year. You could drop Shaw for one of those 5m defenders too. De Jong could be swapped with Siggy to save a mil as well. That right there should get you at least 2-3m. Then you could grab Dzeko, Bony, Jovetic, Giroud, whoever you prefer.

    Hi all,

Please RMT with some appreciable recommendations.

    De Gea / Gilks
Debuchy / Caulker / Ben Davies / (Ward, Bartley)
    Shelvey / Eriksen / Hazard / Sanchez / Sterling
    Rooney / Dzeko (Zamora)

    Is 3-5-2 formations good?
If i would go for 3-4-3, I would take Bojan and downgrade Dzeko to Remy perhaps, is that right?

I find that 3-5-2 is better than 3-4-3 because there is a lack of good, well priced forwards...
Personally I would swap Hazard for Mata, (because Man U have some nice fixtures coming up) and then use that million to upgrade some other player in your team.
