The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team†(RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Nothing in the bank.

He is aware that at the back he is relying heavily on clean sheets at Newcastle and West Brom. Any advice on improving his back-line would be appreciated. Also, is he right to opt for the expensive Daniel Sturridge? Will a lack of Arsenal cover come back to bite him?

    I did have cahill and a better defence and jovetic up top, but I panicked looking at costas pre season form and chelseas fixtures and not having him

      May want to consider upgrading some of your defence, could swap Remy for someone cheaper to beef up the defence with someone like Luis or Cahill. Midfield looks strong. Pretty good overall though

      Billy Jones? I wouldn't double up on Sunderland, although Poyet did seem to get some stability in their defence

      I like the midfield and attack, might look at changing Henderson to puncheon as i think he is maybe more likely to post attacking returns. Also maybe change Naismith for Kane as he is more likely to come off the bench and score, he has a couple of goals in pre season and Pochettino likes young players. In defence not sure if Shaw is going to start as Van Gaal says he isn't fit enough and Liverpool have so many defenders id be wary of Lovren, and I think Liverpool will continue to leak goals anyway.. Please RMT above

      Defence is okay but why Huddlestone and Elmohamady? Look at S.Davis. Also you need to upgrade Berahino by downgrading Sanchez to Ramsey and then also swap Myhill for Green.

        I personally would keep Lukaku. Hes scored more than any other player in the PL bar Saurez & RVP.

      Good team....I went Seproni to think he could be a great shout apart from I said to sell to raise cash. Think DF is a bit light if I had to be picky.

      7/10 for me. IMO you have a good mix upfront and in Mid but there could maybe be some improvement in some areas.

      I would lose Chambers as Arsenal opening fixtures don't look great and he only looks good for the short term.

      Don't like Albrighton as 5th think he will go down in value.

          I know he's a differential but I would lose Henderson, possibly downgrade for 4.5 starter or upgrade for Sterling- reckon he should give best Liverpool coverage.

          I would hold off on Ramsey and Jagielka too with their poor fixtures and Arsenal uncertainty
          (I realise that I'm advocating getting Sanchez but he is world class)

          Otherwise a good team selection I like the GKs

        I wouldn't get Debuchy straight away- will be interesting to watch with Chambers and their fixtures
        Also, while Arsenal have goals all over the team I don't think Ramsey will have the same impact he had with Walcott Ozil, Sanchez also in Midfield now. Maybe transfer for Mata or Chelsea mid?

        Good mix otherwise

      Strong midfield with good mix of differentials and most big teams covered.

      Too much WBA at the back, would hold off before doubling up. Consider swapping Foster.

        Cheers, but I like a weak defence at the start.

        Allows me to bring in bandwagons with ease. Once the bandwagons are established some cash is likely to be freed to spend on the defence. It will only need to hold short term.

        He's still in my other draft. Just analysing all options.

        Also, I thought he'd be on pens, but apparently Wickham is. Team structure is also important as well, and having three big strikers is helpful long term imo.

        I'm getting Clyne because he's nailed and has great attacking threat. Yoshida has neither.

        I will play him nearly every game for his run of fixtures.

        Hamer is Leicester's 4.0m back-up keeper. I like his kit.

          Good call on Clyne- I took Luis out last night for him to free up funds for DDG

          Clyde is nailed, and now he'll get more games (Chambers departure) he will def get more assists and with Saints' awesome fixtures will get plenty of cleanies too...Expecting Koeman to keep them tight and Forster in goal will help...

          Fair enough. I'm not entirely convinced he has a great attacking threat- Some of his assists from last season were suspect though I remember him getting one from a 5 yard throw in.

          I reckon Yoshida will start. As a Celtic fan can safely say his competition Hooiveld is terrible

    - 2mil in bank for GW2 to react to bandwagons or failed punts e.g. can switch Henderson-> Eriksen/Lamela/Tadic, Bojan->Pelle/Remy, Dzeko-> Costa

    - Gone for the more expensive ARS and CHE midfielders at the beginning, to make sure I'll have the funds to switch if the other ones explode

    - Any of the 4.5 or less players are more or less placeholders, will go with whoever looks likely to start

      With Chelsea's propensity for clean sheets, I don't like the idea of missing out on someone from their back line. I'd consider Debuchy > Felipe Luis and Cesc > Eriksen.

        Funnily enough I've had Luis in my team for the last 2 weeks but took him out last night so I could upgrade from Mannone to DDG. Am concerned that he may not be nailed so I swapped him out for Clyne as Saints have a nice opening set of fixtures and I reckon Koeman will have them drilled defensively....

    Any thoughts on my initial squad would be welcome. Please keep in mind I'm targeting players who should have predictable early success, as my league starts with a "Cup" style tournament among the Top 4 finishers from the previous season for some extra prize money.

      Not sure about Vlaar- Villa were awful defensively last year...

      I'd take out Baines for Terry and downgrade Luis to a 5M and spend the extra 1.5M on your fwd line- Bent not good enough...

      Also not sure on Sanchez yet- waiting to see what he does- overhyped at the moment in my opinion. You should go Hazard instead....

      I'd upgrade Bojan to Austin personally. Not sure how you'd get in Hazard but I'd prefer him to Sanchez if it's between them.

      4.0s could be a problem if one or two don't start, I'd upgrade Bruce to a 4.5 if you could.

      Also consider downgrading DDG to Speroni to give you another 0.5 to spend on a nailed 4.5 defender...

      I think you need to upgrade GKs

      I would also avoid doubling up on Arsenal this early. But I guess it's down to how well they do- could be their year with Alexis onboard

    Dear Fellow Members,

    In Tom's excellent posts about how he won the FPL title he won last year (if you missed it you can read the second part here http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/07/31/how-i-used-the-members-area-to-win-the-fpl-part-two/) he mentions that you should be aiming for an average of 55-65pts per week.

    Now this is a great aspirational target, which my team(s) are falling a bit short of.

    I'm following his advice and planning my team up to GW10. My current overall total stands at 529.12!

    I was wondering if any other members were getting anywhere close?

      I've been looking to GW6 - but to GW10 current team is 519.25....going to look at GW10 at earlier drafts now.

        Yeah it makes sense to keep it relatively low in terms of GW's as I'm not taking into account transfers, bandwagons and the unknown etc.

        I like the predictions but they can just add to the craziness at this time of year.

    Which one?

    A. Erikssen & Bojan

    Rotating between a 3-5-2 and 3-4-3 with Bojan and Siggy

    B. Hoilett & Dzeko

    3-4-3 all the way and rotating Siggy and Hoilett for home games

      Should add that Dzeko fixtures are a bit iffy short term but Bohans fixtures are good but he maybe iffy

      Like the double up on GK idea, but as a NUFC fan all I can say is good luck!

      Think there's a bit too much money in your Def. I'd downgrade Terry (as I have Vert and Evans) and get at most a 5 mil other option, lie Caulker. The other two are punts!

      Fab I think will play a little far back and doubt he'll get spot kick duties so I'd use the cash from Def to upgrade him to Hazard.

      I like Sturridge but don't think he'll be playing in the first game. Bojan is a punt, but a good one!

        Thanks for the advice, I never normally spend so much on defenders but I think that it's a good strategy early on this season because there's some uncertainty with the midfield/forward heavy hitters.

    Is rotating your 5th mid and a cheap striker a good idea ?

    a) sanchez , mata , fabregas , albrighton
    b) eriksen , sterling , de jong , ramsey
    c) dzeko , ramsey , sterling , eriksen , albrighton

    the idea is to rotate wickham and de jong .
