The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen’s inclusion was reliant on his move to Manchester United, which now looks to have fallen through. Who should he replace him with?

He concedes Charles N’Zogbia is a huge punt in midfield. Is it a gamble too far? Alexis Sanchez is an insurance policy and he feels he can easily downgrade the Arsenal midfielder to his cheaper team mate Aaron Ramsey.

        Yeah I agree it's fairly balanced which is a good thing. It's a good team I would say a 9.

        No bad. Loving the Tadic pick I would also like yo think that JT would be a better buy than Luis as we don't know what his position is. I mean in terms of starting. I would also like to say but that team is quite solid. I would say an 8/10

      Get better keepers. Drop Baines and Ivanovic for cheaper defenders, Reinvest that money in improving on Bojan.

      Albrighton is hurt. Not convinced that Luis, Mariappa or Cameron will hold down starting roles. If you are then your front line looks good.

      Looks good. Jovetic is a risk. Not one I would take. Don't think you need Krul and Bego as both will start everygame. Unless your planning on rotating you could downgrade one just to open up some funds for future transfers.

      Solid team, but doubts over Snod and Young. I love the attack, but be cautious over Lukaku's game time as he hasn't played this pre-season. Defence is great and keeper as well.

        Agree on Young and Lukaku. I'm going to monitor that situation. Young is my punt to start the season. Snoddy just gets points. 152 and 105 in the last two years for a player under 6.0 not to bad.

    Hi all fellow RMTers and Team tweakers,

    This is where my team stands at the minute....

    Krul Foster

    Vertonghen Evans PVH Coloccini Caulker

    Eriksen Sanchez Hazard Mata El Ahmadi

    Rooney Pelle Nugent

    So, what's been keeping me up at night.

    Vertonghen. Apparently hasn't kicked a ball in anger all pre-season which is a cause for lack of proper REM sleep. Especially as 6 mill is a big chunk of change to have warming the pine!

    I like my main 4 in midfield but am thinking that I may have spent too much in this area. El Ahmedi is there solely as the most selected 4.5 mill option.

    Roonpig, template pick. Pelle is a punt but one I'm reasonably happy about taking. Nugent will pick up some goals and I'm happy with the options in his price bracket, Bojan, Austin etc. So relatively happy there.

    But then there's this itch in the centre of my head that no amount of tinkering can scratch. Mainly due to the afore mentioned Vert, but it's the name of Costa that haunts my dreams!

    I've never seen him play outside of the World Cup, but just watched his solo effort against Fenerbahce, and although it's a friendly you have to be impressed by that. So, in order to get el Costa into the above I'd need to upgrade Pelle and make moves all over the place to get the necessary 3 mill.

    Current thinking would be Sanchez -> Sterling & Vert -> Bavies? (not nailed?)

    But this weakens an already weak DEF. It does give me a bit of Liverpool coverage however. Also, if I've got Costa do I still need Hazard?

    Now, if I solve this conundrum, what will keep me up tonight. Just the lack of any Citeh coverage. Not a big thing. They were just the champions last year.

    Any help to this would be gladly received! Thanks in advance for also pointing out the tweaks that I haven't noticed yet!

      Man Waaaaaaaaay to long for a RMT.

      Rooney Pelle and Nugent is really really weak.

      Downgrade Vert, Sanchez, Haz or Mata and upgrade at least one of those 2 forwards.

      The main issue with your team is there is no certain formation. If you play a 3-5-2 El Ahamdi has to play. If you play a 3-4-3 Nugent has to play.

      Pelle is a good shout. But not as a second forward.

        I've seen it work well in the past. Isn't it the first international break so you get a bit of time to play around, plus most teams first 11 are more settled.

        But horses for courses....

          I used my WC rather early last year and took a heavy blow in March by an injury ridden team. This year I will try holding on to it for as long as possible.

            I dis the same. Actually WC in GW3.

            Had Ramsey, Yaya, Sturridge and a host of other top scorers from the season (I've burnt the rest from memory as it still hurts) until 11:25 on the Sat of GW4 when panic set in and I had to get RVP into my team. 5 mins of panic buying and my season was done!

        The other option is a full on Zamora/Marney scorched earth strategy and put that extra 1.5 in def. Might get away with it for 3 weeks.

      I think it is unlikely that Yaya will replicate his scoring from last season, he was very lucky with his conversion rate. I think he'll still do well but I don't think his price offers the same value as the other big mids

      If Jovetic starts and plays well. I think this team could be very very very good. Tempted to play a 3-5-2 but started that way last year and switched to a 3-4-3 early on with a lot more success.

        easily dropping city players for the first gameweeks. of the 200 teams ive mixed ive always had yaya and or dzeko/jove. makes it quite easier now.
