The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      Don't think there are any 4.5 sure starter in stoke backline. Maybe you can go for Bardsley.

      Fin, Bavies is not nailed. Poch said he was bought as competition.

      And Hughes has said Cameron is first choice. Rodellegabomb posted it earlier.

          Yes, it's not actually as good as people think. Not since Pulis. I think even Newcastle has a better defensive record last season.

          One at 4.5m is fine though imo.

          Also, Pulis said Mariappa only didn't play recently because he was injured. He said he'll be back playing by Arsenal hopefully. Another bargain for you there.

      Why coutinho? You can downgrade Sturridge to Bony and upgrade Henderson to Coutinho plus 1m for either Mutch or Marney upgradation

      mid is very weak....hendo could be very good but it;s very risky...maybe sturridge to dzeko and hendo to sterling?? just to balance it out a bit..

      like the defence. lovren is good pick but some tough early fixtures means you will be playing moore/wisdom a lot which isn't great

    Hello, first ever post. Lurked throughout the course of the World Cup and managed to fleece some money from my acquaintances, so decided I'd sign up. RMT if you would be so kind:

    DDG (Hamer)

    Debuchy Huth Terry (Ward, van Aanholt)

    Mata Ramsey Alexis Siggy (4.5)

    Rooney Lukaku Bojan

    Thoughts:
    -Terry will play every game (can be subbed for Cahill if not nailed on), rest of def will be rotated based on fixtures
    -Ramsey is definately staying in. I'm sort of treating Sanchez as an out of position striker so in my mind it's a 3-3-4 where one of the forwards gets extra points for goals, is that nuts?
    -Who should my 4.5 be?
    -Slightly worried about Lukaku's fitness, could start with Dzecko or Jovetic and save the excess for a transfer once things settle...

    Advice on how to improve much welcomed:

    MF: Mata; Sterling; Ramsey; Sigurdsson; (El Ahmadi)
    FW: Rooney; Dzeko; Giroud

    Eventually I want Lukaku in my team but there are doubts he'll start against Leicester - so Giroud it is for now. I also want Sigurdsson but do not want to play him for Swansea's opener against Utd. Any better 4.5 MF options than El Ahmadi?

      Probably the best team I've seen with Rooney, Costa and Studge all in.

      Would consider Lloris to Begovic though, and spending that 0.5 on a Wisdom to Ferdinand upgrade to give you more defensive options.

    OK my final RMT - please offer your thoughts

    My thinking:

    - Panti will probably start, if not then Mannone can be subbed in at some point. Good fixture rotation with Krul
    - Starting 4-3-3 but 3-4-3 will be used after GW1 with Sigurdsson a regular starter - too good to bench consistently.
    - Colloccini to come in for Chambers around GW3, allows for good rotation with O'Shea. One of Colo and O'Shea will partner regular centre-halves Terry and Evans dependent on fixtures.

    My concerns:

    - Gone for Dzeko but very tempted by Adebayor
    - No Liverpool attacking mid or forward

      de gea - myhill
      terry - debuchy - davies - cameron - clyne
      mata - Ramsey - eriksen - siggy - albrighton (havent changed him yet)
      rooney - costa - bojan

      Stoke have good run and Bojan will just be my third striker anyway.
      but all round i think its pretty solid

    Hey so after the Community Shield match yesterday what do you guys think of the whole Ramsey vs. Sanchez debate? Both are world class. On one hand, Ramsey seems to be playing a more advance role for the time being (maybe until Ozil gets back) and he clearly is in great form with a goal/ kind of an assist yesterday.

    On the other hand Alexis has such a scoring potential, maybe even more than Ramsey. Also, due to the rise in Sangogo it seems that Alexis will occupy the RW till Walcott gets back, and AW hinted that Alexis is not fully fit yet, but regardless he looks so dangerous in the final third.

    Let me know what you think and best of luck with the upcoming season.

      I think Ramsey is essential, he came back from is layoff last season and picked up exactly where he left off. Seems to be continuing that with a good preseason. Also, he's had a full preseason, where most superstars have not - no brainier for me.

      Alexis is more of an unknown quantity at the moment, but considering he's down as a mid, I'm worried about not owning him.

      Currently own them both, but it worries me slightly...

      I'd say Ramsey for the start, more reliable, and the second you see Sanchez explode, get him. Might require a bit of surgery in your team though

    Ok, I'll give this a go : how does this look?

    As you can see, I'm completely unsure about who to pick as my 3rd striker. I've had Pelle since the beginning, but I want to ship him out. I'm considering one of Jovetic, Dzeko, Adebayor.
    Who do you think I should go for?

    Also, would you go :
    A/ Henderson + Jovetic/Dzeko/Adebayor
    B/ Ramsey + Bojan/Campbell/Fletcher ?

      Too many risks in that midfield IMO - Lamela, Hendo and Marney.

      Would go B and get Ramsey in. Bojan is popular due to Stoke's decent early fixture list.

      Bruce is not nailed on either; Davies, Chester and Figueroa ahead of him when all fit. Consider Moore at Leicester.

        Marney is just a bench fodder instead of Albrighton who seems injured. I'm not planning on letting him anywhere near the pitch.

        So Hull are going to play 3 at the back? From what I've seem in the last friendlies, Bruce started all games. I'll look into Moore, but I had picked Bruce because of Hull's good fixtures. I'd like to get a 4.0 DEF I can play if I have to

    Coutinho is a great pick. He will play in his favourite position now that Suarez has left. He had 94 shots last season with a poor conversion rate but that was his first season in the premier league he was getting used to it. Now it's his second season, playing in the hole with sterling, Lallana, gerrard, Henderson and markovic assisting him. Plus with no World Cup he will be full of energy and continue his form from pre season.

    I'm picking him over sterling

        5.5m on the bench every week is a lot. I think you should downgrade shelvey and upgrade bojan. The rest is good
