The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

    Is Bojan worth a punt for GW 1 ? or have Zamora as bench fodder

    I can get Bojan if I downgrade Evans to 4.5 or do Haz to Fab.

      No, he's a terrible player. Get the Burnley guy for 5.0 if you want upgrade on Zamora. Can't spell his name but you know the guy, scored a load in pre-season and qualifies to play for the ROI

      Nothing wrong with DDG. But Luis is a risk, same for Rosenoir and Wisdom, Your mids look too strong tbh

      No expert, but Luis might be rotated with Azpi. Mariappa not played in friendlies, but apparently he has a rib injury, Wisdom is a gamble (I've got him).

      You may have to look at the promoted teams. I like Wasilewski and Upton from Lei City, and Duff from Burnley. Had played almost every game last season so they should be playing all or most this season. Both Wasilewski and Upton are aging though so we will see if they start younger players. I think given the promotion, however, they will go with experience so I think those are both good choices. I have Wasilewski as one of my back up defenders...

              didn't really look into it but i don't think there are many decent options at 5.0 for gw1.

        Hm Evans could be a good idea. I'm eager to know why everyone prefers Evans though? I thought everyone would prefer jones goal threat?

      I'm not sure on this Chambers for 1 week fad that seems to be going on.

      I'm not keen on Fabregas until I've seen how Chelsea are going to shape up in the league.

      I think Villa will do well to stay up this season, so Agbon is a bad pick imo.

          Yes. I think Haz is a much better pick than Fab. At least until it's clear how much attacking Fab will be getting in on.

          Bojan is very popular @ 5.5. I also like Fletcher. If you can sqeeze out another 0.5 to spend 6.0 you could get Austin, who is also popular (but I don't fancy him much) or Wickham.

        Villa possibly not staying up doesn't necessarily mean their players won't be worth it – there have been plenty of relegated fantasy stars in the past. Although Agbonlahor particularly I'm not so sure of, Weimann seems to be in good form. Of course, there are other options. 🙂

    Debating replacing Costa with Rooney. Also replaced Koscielny with Shaw, heard Koscielny has a ligament injury. Is Shaw the right way to go there for 6.0?

      Everton have bad early fixtures.
      Shaw isn't a 100% starter. Evans or Jones are popular ManU choices or Debuchy if you want into the Arsenal def.

        I've been doing some tinkering,
        I've brought in Debuchy for Shaw, that gives me and extra .5,
        If I take out Barkley, I've got 7.5, who's the best option at that price?

          7.5 isn't a great price point for MF. If you can get up to 8 you open the doors for a Spurs MF with either Eriksen, or Lamela. Maybe even Coutinho..

          You'd never know to be honest, I thought the same but then LVG came out talking about his lack of fitness. With the money they paid for him you'd expect him to be nailed down, but it's tough to say.

            Ah that. A minor worry, but I thought it was more about Shaw being in the supreme physical condition required of a wing-back than any real fitness issue. I think Shaw said himself something on the lines of that he's physically OK, but he didn't realize how much was expected of him when he came to Man U.

    Is the consensus that it's still worth keeping Siggy around? I think he can still produce enough for a 6m mid on the wings without blowing up my defense and front line to get a more expensive replacement. I'm far from an expert on how Swansea will utilize him of course.
