The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Begovic – (Gilks)
Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)
Mata – Fabregas – Ramsey – Sterling – Sigurdsson
Rooney – Costa – (Zamora)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

    Giroud or Dzeko guys (and why) for the first few games? Cheers

      Giroud looks the more on form of the two and his fixtures are SLIGHTLY better than Dzeko, who also needs to compete against the in form Jovetic. Giroud looks more secure to me

      Not sure Herrera will play as a no10...maybe you'd be better off there with Mata. You also have a lot of Chelsea coverage. Consider changing up Fab to someone else like maybe Eriksen? Or Sterling?

      I like it, although Jucti is an odd pick. Maybe down grade someone to fit someone like Nugent, Campbell, Bojan or Weimann.

          Ah! My mistake! In that case it looks pretty sweet to me. One possible short coming is that you lack Chelsea attacking cover.

    Okay here's my team lads, I'm happy with most positions except maybe Hendo and Nugent, though I like Nugent cos he's the difference.

    I know my bench defenders are bad but sturridge is hard to crow bar in to the squad

    I think I am pretty much there now:

    Foster Krul
    Luis Ward Chambers Wisdom Vlaar
    Mata Siggy Fabregas Ramsey (Marney)
    Dzeko/Giroud Costa Rooney

    What do you guys think? I know Chambers is a risk once the Germans are back but I will probably wildcard after 3 weeks (like usual). Similarly, Luis may become Cahill (but I would have to downgrade Ward).

    Any other gaping holes please? Thanks in advance

      Looks sound to me, would take Giroud over Dzeko or, if you really want that Man City coverage, go with Jovetic.

      As a United fan, I would say you take Evans over Jones, he looks nailed on under LVG. Gouffran, Yacob, and Chamakh are odd picks.

      Chamakh could be replaced with the likes of Bojan, Nugent, or even Fletcher

      Gouffran could be replaced by Johnson or Arnautovic who have much better fixtures to start with.

      Yacob I can understand since I am assuming he's just there to free up cash for other areas

      Team 1's fixtures are much tougher and have more new players settling in.

      Team 2 for me with some changes.

      1) I wouldn't double up on Utd's defence. Either keep DDG or Evans and try to squeeze in a Utd MF (Mata or Young)
      2) Hendo -> Siggy
      3) Yes, replace Paulinho

      Front 3 is a little weak, considering Bojan is unproven and Austin is in a ageing QPR squad who are not known for their goals.

      Gerrard will have less points return due to his position just in front of the back 4, Sterling would be a much better choice for 'Pool midfield

      1) Too much spent on defence.
      2) For 6.0, you could do Hendo -> Siggy
      3) Gerrard -> Sterling if you need the extra 0.5
      4) Attack is too weak. Upgrade Zarate and Nugent if possible, or at least 1

    GK both from Sunderland, so will never have a blank GW. Tactically, going cheap on defence (5 defenders which I can rotate throughout the season), and looking for points in attack this season. Too much Liverpool? Looking to Sturridge-> Aguero when he's fit.

      Disregarding your defense since you seem to have a plan for it.

      Why Sterling AND Hendo though? Surely one would be enough. Swap Hendo to Siggy or Johnson

      Could you do Bojan>Jovetic? That would solve your MCity issues

    I have the option of Hendo - Siggy if his going to rise after GW 1.
    My back 5 rotates well enough early on.

    I had Hutton/Bojan but changed to Ward/Jutkiewicz which one is better ? Considering i would hardly play Bojan

    I'm working on a team with flexible formations, so perhaps the opportunity to avail a 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 from time to time vs the 3-4-3. Any RMT suggestions/ratings?

    Am I missing out on a ManU defender? Should I move Fabregas/Mutch into Eriksen/Siggy, take the extra .5 and bump Bojan into Wickham or Austin? Or just take the .5 and get a 5.5 keeper... I could go for days, not to mention the Dzeko/Bony/Giroud conundrum. Yikes.

      It's only natural. Siggy was a 5.5 bargain at Swansea 4 years ago, then Michu came along when he was sold. So Swansea attacking midfielders are synonymous with essential bargains. And after Man Utd the fixtures seem pretty lucrative.
