The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

The next up is our fixtures specialist Roscola.

Azpilicueta – Evans – van Aanholt – (Wisdom – Bartley)

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

      Everyone is nailed on except for Wisdom ,maybe his nailed on in the short term.

      Obviously you can play Bojan instead of Naylor which i think rotate pretty well as i considered the Siggy/Bojan rotation.

      I like it havn't gave a rating to anyone yet.

      quite like it but dont see the point of having bojan if you not gonna play him at home, especially v villa, seeing as you cant bench any of your mids id ditch bojan for jutkeiwiz and pocket the cash

    I have the option of Hendo - Siggy if his going to rise after GW 1.
    My back 5 rotates well enough early on.

    I had Hutton/Bojan but changed to Ward/Jutkiewicz which one is better ? Considering i would hardly play Bojan

      Horrible im afraid, dont think its possible to have haz and costa in the same team.
      Youll struggle to get 11 starters with that, only way i like it is if you intend to wc straight away

      I'd play Ward & Clyne over Wisdom & Moore.
      Strong midfield & I assume you're transferring Henderson for Siggy in gw2.
      I think Jovetic will outdo Dzeko on current form. This will give you an extra 0.5 that can be used to upgrade Wisdom or Moore to a 4.5 (Chester/PVA seems popular)

    2 top 1500 finishes in the last 5 seasons so be brutally honest...

    Krul. (Gilks)
    Cahill, Evans, Wisdom. (Moore), (Coloccini)
    Fabregas, Ramsey, Hendo, Mata. (Isgrove)
    Costa, Ronney, Giroud

    - Not sure if I should go Gilks or Hammer as my back up.

    - Newcastle have a shocking GW1 but an amazing run from there so Krul and Colo are locks.

    - Not sure who's nailed in the 4.0 bracket, doesn't help being in Australia.

    - Hendo is punty but I reckon this will be a breakthrough season, plus Liverpool scores a lot.

    - Giroud underrated, will score 20 goals this season if he stays the main man.

    Thoughts?

      What were your finishes last 2 seasons?

      Giroud played 3000+ minutes last season and still didn't get 20 goals. Go Dzeko instead

      Don't fancy Sterling or Eriksen?

            You can never garuntee Dzeko will start though. Suppose he'd be a solid pick early season with Negrado and Agureo out. Thoughts on Jovetic? Great pre season.

        Last 2 seasons were rubbish, gave up halfway. In 2011/12 was my best, 1310.

        Giroud seems likely to play more and I reckon Ramsey and Alexis will provide heaps.

        I fancy them both but don't I have the $$$ and id rather downgrade. Eriksen, DDG, Sterling and Siggy were all on my radar just couldn't fit em in.

    Going uber cheap at the back this season with no multiple BPs available under the new system. Makes my front seven look very tasty.

      GK - Not a fan of Newcastle defence, they aren't very good
      DEF - Better than most, doubts over the nailed on-ness of all but Evans, a little concerning
      MID - Solid, no real complaints, check Albrighton's fitness
      FWD - Giroud is iffy, game time and ability is in question

          Lovren -> Chelsea defender (or downgrade), Ward -> Mariappa, Caulker -> 4.5 (Rio?). PVA is also a good defensive option I think.

            - Have thought of Caulker to Rio but think Caulker has more of a goal threat
            - Would definitely do Ward to Mariappa but worried about game time for him
            - Wanted a Chelsea DEF but couldn't fit in Budget wise. Would have to do above 2 switches to get Cahill/Terry. Waiting to see if Luiz is in on first game and might so Lovren to Luiz

      I'd question Coutinho, Hoilett and Bojan. Its a bit too punty I think. Consider subtle downgrades in defence to free up a little cash. Sterling, Henderson, Siggy, City striker should be considerations

    Two questions.

    Who will start in the spurs defence. I want to get either Kaboul, Dawson, Davies or Rose but cant decide which will start, i have a tendency for Kaboul atm. Also what do we think will be a better option Hazard/Coutinho or Fabregas/Sterling. Will Fabregas even play in the 10 role and has he had a good pre season, i know hes scored a few goals but assists and movement wise.

      I like this because it's different from others I've seen.
      Bolaise from Palace is dangerous and finished well last season and he'll save .5 over Puncheon to invest elsewhere

    What are people's thoughts on Burnleys Jutkiewicz as a cheap 3rd striker.

    Allows me to do a 352 with a packed midfield.

    No need to really play him, and if he can do anything like he has in pre - season, he is surely likely to get a price rise.

    Think ive got my team.. after watching MC play on sunday and their fixture schedule im not convinced they're necessary just yet and the team offers numerous switch options Giroud -> Dzeko/Jovetic, Mata/Ramsey/Fab -> Nasri/Silva. The surplus of Chelsea defenders also made me go more for their attacking options

    1. Henderson I think could be this season's wildcard if he's played more in an advanced position with Can being the more defensive midfielder? He did well on the wing over the weekend
    2. It seems like there are no really nailed on 4.0 defenders?
    3. I wanted a rotating Home/Away defending pair that was nailed on.. any other cheap pairings that make sense?
