The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Roscola admits his team has a major flaw in that it is potentially benchless. He says though that he’s happy for QPR striker Bobby Zamora never to play, because this is a 3-5-2 that reverts to four at the back for first sub. He believes that there are more points available in the budget bracket in defence than further upfield. Sticking with this basic strategy he is looking for advice to find extra funds to invest in his bench. Downgrading Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas to Manchester City’s Samir Nasri is one option he is considering.

          Thanks for the tip. But my only problem is that am participating in the ESPN fantasy soccer english premier league and here Bojan is a midfielder not a Forward.

          What is your thought on replacing Mata for steven Gerald ?? Is it a wise move?

    RMT - Need a strong start after a very poor showing last season.

    DDG (Elliot) - to change to two GKs when man u's fixtures get tougher)

    Luis - Jones - Cameron (Mariappa, Hutton)
    Ramsey - Nasri - Sterling - Siggi (Boyd)
    Rooney - Costa - Dzeko

    Worries:
    Not sure if Cameron and Luis are 100% starters
    Nasri might be rotation risk (but think he will be on form after his WC dropping)
    Dzeko will be fine until agureo returns, right?

    Possible downgrade sterling or nasri to eriksen so I can afford luis to upgrade to cahill?

      good team mate - i wouldnt change giroud out for dzeko or jovetic personally.
      arsene wenger himself said that he isnt going to play sanchez up front until walcott returns meaning that giroud is going to be the striker that arsenal use in their first few games.
      what im going to do is wait till walcott comes back and then i will put sanchez in my team, a midfielder playing as a striker will get mountains of points for you.
      the thing with man city is that u dont know who will start... aguero might be rested or he might start the first game... if u r sure you want to swap out giroud i would advise replacing him with dzeko because he is less of a risk than jovetic, who would definitely get swapped out if aguero would return.

      other than that issue there isnt a lot else. im slightly worried about caulker at the back, regardless that he is a definite starter with ferdinand i still feel that qpr will ship a lot of goals due to the rest of their team being weak but thats only a minor issue.

            honestly dude im a huge fan of mata this year... my mind goes back to two/three years ago when he was one of fantasy league's top players. He's had one bad season at Chelsea/Man U cos Jose didnt like him so I feel hes underpriced but cos of LVG's new system he will play uncontested in the hole in the 3-4-1-2 and is Man U's main creative outlet so I personally feel he will get a load of assist points and maybe a few goals too.

            I also feel Ward is a good shout, he plays for Crystal Palace which under Tony Pulis is bound to get a load of clean sheets, but admittedly he doesnt offer much else... if you do want to get rid of him I would get rid of Eriksen... I have him in my team too but am slightly worried about his points consistency and you can choose a cheaper replacement... my eyes are on Sigurdsson and Tadic (or Mirallas).

    I'm particularly curious to hear what you think of Pelle and whether he would be good or not.
    Also Coutinho and whether he will get any game time this season, but if he does I feel he would be a great cheap player.
    Finally Eriksen or whether he is overrated. I really wanted YAYA in the team but he seems too expensive, the same with sturridge/rooney
    Any other advice enormously appreciated as well and a huge than you to anyone who does reply...

      dude good team... honestly i think bojans a bit overhyped at the moment and from what ive seen in pre season he is going to play as a rm in the 4-2-3-1 with diouf up top so i would definitely say dont go for bojan. not a huge fan of remy either because it seems qpr are desperate to get rid of him and he isnt fit... i would try and get pelle (southampton) or cough up an extra million and get dzeko/jovetic/giroud.

      as for midfielder i would go for sigurdsson over nzogbia... sigurdsson has been given all dead ball responsibilities for swansea and is also a half decent player... never really heard of or rate nzogbia.

      Don't think any of the top teams will have two pricey keepers. Guaranteed benched money very week. Change that I'd say. Like it otherwise though I think mata instead of silva

        For yours I presume you are going 3-4-3 but would recommend downgrading Cahill and upgrading Albrighton

          Ya I'm not convinced young has gone from laughing stock to fantasy football team standard after one half decent preseason but could be proven wrong, he'll def improve. I'd try get a sterling or fab in for Herrera or continuo. Coutinho can't shoot or at least couldn't last year scuffs a lot. Super talent but won't rack points up IMO.

          Who would you think for Cahill?

            I would like Fab but difficult to free up the funds and keeping a strong team. For Cahill it depends how much you want to free up for 6 mil you can get Mangala/Koscielny both good shouts or if you want a Chelsea player either Azpi or Luis. if you are looking to free up a bit more Clichy is just 5.5 mil

      very nice team but the only problem i have with it is having no Man city players, considering they won the title last season. i would consider somehow getting rid of sterling and upgrading him to nasri or silva as sterling no longer has that suarez type figure to deliver the ball to and i dont think he will do as well.

      good team but i feel ur strikers r affecting the rest of your team.

      I myself was desperate to have costa rooney sturridge in my team but it felt like the rest of my team was suffering which I think is what is happening to you.

      I have mata and ramsey in my team but I would never ever go for hoilett, no offence but he just looks rubbish, sigurdssons not a bad choice but then I also feel like your defence is weak in certain areas.

      My advice as hard as it is for you is to get rid of at least one of your strikers. Personally I feel that as you have mata you dont need rooney and you should keep sturridge and costa, a cheaper striker like giroud/dzeko/costa/pelle etc. and upgrade other areas of your team like hoilett, collins and wisdom so you have a more balanced team.

      This is only what I think so obvs if you disagree with what I have to say then go for it, its just if your strikers have an off day you dont have a lot to fall back on.

        Hoillett's been pretty good in pre season, has premier league experience in his locker, and will probably be playing up front due to Remy's fitness fears/potential transfer away.

        I think Utd with Van Gal will get 15 point from 5 match because they have easy program and Mata and Roon will grab much point like SAS last season. I saw Hoilett play as No.10 player in pre-season so I chooses him.

      if you're going this route I think you need to spend less on GKs and bring in at least one nailed on defender - Jones, Terry Cahill etc..

      DDG is going to be an ever present I assume so ditch Krul for a 4.0

      Don't like Hoillet - much better choices available c. 6.0
