The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Alex is not thrilled about having Gylfi Sigurdsson on the bench for the first Gameweek so he is open to alternative suggestions for his fifth midfield slot. He is adopting a wait-and-see aproach regarding Chelsea midfielders, Arsenal and Manchester City. Is he right to wait?

      With that backline you barely need a rotation - I'd certainly consider taking Yoshida down to a £4m which would give you flexibility.

      The problem this year is that all teams will lose balance if you concentrate on a certain part of your team. Example of this is with yours as the midfield looks weak but the attack is excellent. YOu could downgrade one of your attackers to Giroud and use the cash to upgrade your midfield but there isn't a right or wrong at this stage

      My team has a weak defense cos i've gone for a strong midfield and attack.

      I think Wisdom is too much of a punt, he isn't guaranteed a starting place so that could be a problem.

      Attack looks good.

      7/10 in my opinion but you never know.

      Wisdom isn't bad, Chambers on the other hand is a punt. Shaw is highly questionable, so change him.

      No Rooney? You have only so much to lose with that risk. Get Rooney.

      Slightly weak defence, solid midfield, and neat attacking three. Good balance, I like it. Where did Manquillo come from though? If he's a 5.0, replace him.

    Mutch-Rooney-Jelavic or Ramsey-Pelle-Weimann

    And where could I improve?:

    Krul - Foster (Krul first choice but foster has matching fixtures(up until gw 12) when it comes to krul playing against a top 7 club last year)

    Felipe Luis - Jones - Davies - Cameron - Ferdinand ( I find my defence solid and plan on switching felipe luis for lovren and ferdinand for caulker after gw 3)

    Hazard - Mata - Eriksen - Siggy - Mutch ( Hazard is a must keep for me and im not sure if mutch will start?)

    Rooney - Costa - Jelavic ( Rooney I think could have his best season yet, Costa acting as lone stirker for chelsea with hazard, oscar and schurrle assisting i think he'll be super and with Long after joining southampton jelavic is hull's only striker and played at least 70 mins every game last year after joining hull(usually around 85 mins) )

    I would like to add in de gea but i cant find funds, any thoughts appreciated !

      Downgrade Jones and find the funds to get DDG by Eriksen to a 6.0 or lower.

      Bruce is a worry and probably won't play. Be careful with Chambers as he may only start the first 1-2 games.

      Well l'll start off with forwards, Lukaku I feel you should downgrade to a 6.0 eg Long or Jelavic ( Jelavic probably best option with long after leaving meaning Jelavic is only hull striker and guaranteed game time) If that doesnt appeal to you Pelle may be a better option at 7.5 who scored 56 goals in 57 games at his previous club. Downgrade one of your 9.0 of your choice to an 8.0 or less eg Eriksen Mirallas. Get rid of chambers,bruce and vlaar. Swap vlaar for either cameron or O'shea. Swap Bruce for davies(Spurs) and chambers for caulker. After week four Lovren might be an option as liverpool's games ease up. Same goes for debuchy after week 8

    Only thing that worries me is Bojan. But if he doesnt take off I'll switch him to whichever cheapo does.

      I'm pretty similar in terms of the mix of teams. I chose Campbell over bojan at the same price only because of experience and plan to swap out if necessary. I'm not convinced on Ramsey this season he is a worry for me at the price so opted for sterling. Possibly a little light at the back more because of the bench.

      heard that Speroni may not be nailed. Would avoid Man U def until they settle in. Would rather have a 3rd top striker than 4 big mids, unless ur gonna play 2 upfront (which is a waste of an oppurtunity imo).

        There were some suggestions and forecasts that midfielders are going to be bringing most of the points this year and not the forwards (based on the tweaked BPS).

        If I take 3rd top striker (Giroud, Sturridge) my mid is going to hurt bad and I'll end up with 2 big mids instead of 4.

        Man Utd defence... yeah that's the toughest question... They have the easiest schedule in the starting GWs so ...

        I appreciate your comment about Speroni, will do more research before the kick-off.

      Not sure about van Aanholt - Sunderland as overall plus the fixtures.
      Wisdom - I have him too , but he's not nailed on.
      Don't think Henderson is fantasy player , cannot comment on Marney.
      Attack is super solid.

      I wouldnt bother wasting a transfer tbh I'd stick with siggy as he takes direct,indirect frees and corners so might grab a goal or an assist against united. And also you run the risk of henderson's price decreasing if he plays very bad or gets a red card

    Urgh, Brighton are selling Will Buckley to Sunderland for 2.5m.

    Knew this would happen, by far our best player over the last few seasons. Going to see Brighton vs Birmingham on Sat and can't say i'm too excited now I know he's leaving!

    Could be a good option in fpl though once hes settled if he comes in at 4.5 / 5.0. tricky winger who loves to cut inside.

        Thanks for the advice. Did think my defence was a bit suspect. Young has been in and out of my team. Would never have been in if it wasn't for his pre season form. Was also torn between lamela and eriksen. I think lamela will be great this season. Think the new system will suit him perfectly.

          Good team. Your GK are fine as their fixtures match and are cheap. I personally would swap lovren and debuchy for davies(spurs & mangala or luis(luis is better option with handy fixtures) Vlaar is a miss as aston villa are one of the weakest sides in the prem when it comes to defence, and their starting fixtures definitely dont help. So I would advise you to swap for either O'shea or Cameron who both have easy fixtures. I'd personally swap Sterling and Bojan for Eriksen and Jelavic/Long
