The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      Not going to play shelvey regularly so can afford to downgrade him and upgrade the defence. Some concerns over mannone starting position as well. Foster rotates well with krul.

      I'd skip Mannone, Krul & Foster. Mannone not nailed on and Krul+Foster rotation not the best.

      Bojan seems to be injured according to some reports.

      Looks good maybe down grade kelly/marriapa to a 4.0 like wisdom until know who is preferred, and use that .5 to upgrade rio.

    0.5m left in the bank. Only change I may make is Jones- Evans

      Jones and bruce arent nailed on, magic too expensive for bench fodder. Rest looks good.

      Defence is very risky, Bruce isn't a starter and QPR/Villa will definitely leak goals.

      As you have 0.5 upgrade Bruce to a 4.5 starter like Coloccini or van Aanholt, at least you'll have guaranteed chances of points.

      Nice strikers and midfield though, Matic probably won't contribute to many goals, but is probably bench fodder?

    I think I sorted in attack. So would be great to get some opinions on this defence:

    Cahill, Clyne, Chambers, Wisdom, Moore/Bartley

    -Chambers is a 1-2GW punt to become another 4.5 (hopefully Kelly)

    Noticed a lot of people haven't gone with YYT, probably because of price. Interested in alternates for Tiote in the midfield, he is injured at this stage but I'm not sure what other cheap midfield options there are. Also a cheap defender - is there a better option then Ferdinand?

      Looks pretty good and if YYT scores you will get a nice pump. Marney is 4.5 and will play apparently as will Albrighton when not injured.

      Similar debate myself. I think it comes down to whether you prefer rotating goalkeepers. I am not overly sold on united's defence atm.

      B) Question marks over albrightons fitness and gametime, you could downgrade Sanchez to Ramsey and use the cash elsewhere

    Gone for a heavy hitting defence that I believe have chances of getting some attacking points.

    Krul / Foster

    Vertonghen / Kolarov / Lovren / Debuchy (Targett)

    For the rest of the team my only decision I think is:

    A) Hazard / Ramsey / Snodgrass ( Ireland, Marney)
    Costa, Rooney, Jovetic

    Or

    B) Hazard / Ramsey / Eriksen / Mata ( Marney)
    Rooney / Jovetic (5 mill striker).

    Your thoughts, score out of 10 on strategy/ team would be much appreciated.

      in agreement with Houdini. Would go option B but downgrade kolarov to 4/4.5 on the bench to upgrade 3rd striker (Long at 6?).

      Steering clear of chelski defence till it's settled. Surely he will rotate it around to get team up to fitness, especially as the fixtures are relatively easier

        If I lose Eriksen for Siggy then yes. But Hazard has been pretty damn poor so I'm not particularly eager to get him yet.

    Hey guys, first time posting.

    Any thoughts on my team? Not sure on Cazorla but since Arsenal seem to start well I think I need some coverage in there. It's heavy on Man U given their opening fixtures.

    I always try to gain points through mid/fwd and not worry about gk/def too much.

    Thinking of setting up an 'Early Doors' cup - similar to one I ran last year for FFS non-qualifiers.
