The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

    Just not sure in the balance.

    Alternative is young > mata. Studge > fletcher. Huth > terry

          I think that's the forward line everyone will want when TV gets higher. It does look to have done quite a bit of damage to the rest of your team though.

            Only really sacrificed mata and terry, mata was locked on for me but with this shaw announced young could be a bargain at 5.5

      I had Targett but he hasn't been playing since Bertrand came.
      Luis is a risk.
      To change those, I'd suggest downgrading Sturridge or Dzeko.

      I'm debating dropping DDG myself with the ManU defensive "situation".
      Luis is a risk (rotation)
      Don't like Siggy, think Swans will struggle, although he could still shine and me not liking him is more personal preference than an actual judgement on his ability.
      I think Fab "might" be playing too deep to be a really excellent FPL prospect
      I like the Henderson pick.
      I'm not sure on Sturridge instead of Costa. Costa has been firing (only in friendlies) and Chelsea fixtures are pretty nice.

        Still debating myself over DDG or goally rotation :/
        I've gone for Cahill instead of Luis at an extra .5
        I've got Siggy- not sure if he will shine or not but worth the risk at 6 IMHO.
        Hard to say where Fab will play- played in the hole and as part of double pivot pre season.
        Costa over Sturridge for me with fixtures.

      I reckon Henderson is a good pick for allowing bigger spend in other areas - looks to be a solid starter this year.

      Mutch at 5.5 is a bit suspect if you intend on using Sig-Rams-Fab-Hend midfield (which I take it you are given the 3 fwds). Although Dzeko wasn't great on Sunday - but then City didn't seem too interested.

      A 4.5m MF would give you a bit of scope to buy whichever defender decides to come good this season without having to sell someone to fund that transaction.

      Possibly Bojan for Dzeko then you have 8.5m for a MF like Sterling, Coutinho, Eriksen etc

      PS I suppose this means Mutch comes on and lights up Loftus Road on Saturday... maybe I'll sub him in

      I wouldn't double up on QPR def/GK, and I'm not as confident in Utd's back line anymore, given injuries and transfer uncertainty. Otherwise fine.

      GK : Hennessey is supposedly challenging Speroni for the starting berth. Begovic [also 5.0M] till that situation resolves itself?
      DEF: Williams from Crystal Palace? Is he confirmed to start? Dann & Ward [both 5.0M] far more nailed on [read: I am more confident about].
      MID: Like the Puncheon pick. Personally staying clear from Swansea till Monk looks like he's got everything under control [personal bias here].
      FWD: Would seriously consider shaving 0.5M to upgrade Banjo to Austin[QPR] but stick with him if you feeling confident.

        Interesting- thought Speroni was nailed on so may need to do some more reading :).
        Williams has started most of the pre season. Had Ward but downgraded to save cash.
        Yeah, I'm not sure about Siggy either but best bet in price range after Puncheon I think.
        Pretty happy with Bojan for the price I think but could upgrade if I downgrade Siggy.
        Darn just when u think you're done. Come on Saturday at 12:30! 😀

      I like it. I've gone with Williams/Fletcher over Coloccini/Wickham, and some adjustments in midfield to accommodate Hazard, but your team looks solid. I'm not totally confident that PVA is assured a place in the starting 11, though.

    Guys please help me out here!
    My current team is:
    DDG - Myhill
    Debuchy - Luis - Wisdom - Bartley - Hutton
    Eriksen - Mata - Oscar - Ramsey - Hendo
    Rooney - Costa - Bojan

    I'm thinking about 4 options which are:
    1) Oscar and Ramsey --> Fabregas and Cazorla
    2) Oscar, Costa and Bartley --> Hazard, Giroud and 4.5 defender
    3) Oscar --> either Nasri/ Sterling ( I like Nasri better than Sterling)
    4) Debuchy, Oscar and Bartley --> Chambers, Fabregas and 4.5 defender

    Please help me out, rate my team and come up with some suggestions for my team, that'd be fantastic!

    Today finally i decided to make my team , last year I started good but then Suarez happened ( and i did not have him in my team ) n i lost big time....

    did some reshuffling last night reconsidering a few facts.. while Liverpool is the titan everyone is expecting in attack the first 3 weeks (Southhampton (H), Man City (A), Tottenham (A)) seems a bit harsh. So I sold Sturridge and now have this team:

    Foster (Krul)
    Wisdom / Davies / P. Jones / Cahill (Ferdinand)
    Mata / Sanchez / Silva (Marney / Siggurdson)
    Costa / Rooney / Bojan

    Plan is after GW1 swap Foster/Krul, Wisdom/ Siggurdson.

    Potential to buy Sturridge/Sterling in GW4 after Liverpool tough start is over if needed.

        Midfielders scored more than strikers, they do nearly every season except for like Van Persie the year before last

      I'm really uncertain as to how much points Fabregas will be getting this season, playing deep for Chelsea. That's just my fear which ruled him out as a pick, esp at his cost of 9 (which you can get Mata for who has a lot more attacking potential)

        Yes, Albrighton seems injured. But he should be back soon. And I don't see myself transferring him out anytime soon (4.5 mid). Kaboul is a bit of a risk. I'm hoping he plays.
