The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      Tricky one . Historically Harry's teams are pretty tight and Rio should at least organize them well. Villa may be in trouble this year although if they turn the home form around they might be ok, but think qpr will be a better bet if you want a nailed on one all season.

        You only need one of Mata or Young

        IMO do Young > Henderson

      Moby, carrying on with our conversation on the last page, i would put the other .5 on that Burnley striker beginning with J who has been on fire instead of Zamora,cuz how I see it Young won't be in the first 11 either for long so you may end up with 2 benched players.

    3-5-2 huh? You've got more guts than me that's for sure haha.
    Double Utd mids could pay off early on, just remember Young could be playing Def for a while in place of Shaw.
    Bench is pretty thin, perhaps consider downgrading Sanchez until he finds his feet. He's at serious risk of an early price drop if he keeps playing the way he is.

      Mannone not locked-on. Davies not projected to start for Spurs...which means you might only have one starting option at DEF at the moment. And Young may be hot, but I doubt it will continue once things get real...

        Agree I am lightweight upfront, but strikers look overpriced when you compare last season totals compared to midfield. But goals seems to count more for the bonus points this season for strikers and so I may look to go for a steady eddy like Dzeko or Adebayor early doors to see how Costa and Sturridge start.

      Lovren is a bit questionable - can't see Pool being great at the back, particularly not with those fixtures.

      That bench is trash - sometimes you may need to use it.

      Sterling and Eriksen. Both quality players, even though Pool has a rough start. Hazard my clear choice of the 4, but I feel Henderson is too weak, esp with the fixtures being what they are..

    Another team question, this time for Spurs. FFS posted the Spurs back line in the Team News as mostly likely being Naughton - Kaboul - Vertonghen - Rose. The FFS Community posted a line-up at the back for Spurs of Walker - Dawson - Vertonghen - Davies. Which one is closest to being correct?

    After what Pochettino did for the defensive players at Southampton last year, I'm betting that there is going to be a real value in the back as many of them are coming in a very reasonable prices.

    Anyone have any good information on this one?

      I'd take this to general discussion rather than the RMT section 🙂 You'll get more thorough responses.

      For me, it depends how the Spurs players adapt to his high pressing style. He did much to organise the defensive players but they also had good defensive midfielders in front of them - something Spurs lack.

      I'd want a better (4.5 not 4.0) defender on my bench but that's personal preference. You might get away with it.

      Fletcher is a waste of a striker spot IMO.

      He's always getting injured and when the inevitable happens it will almost certainly take you 2 transfers to bring in any decent kind of cheap replacement. I also think Wickham is ahead of him anyway and if they get Borini then Fletcher's days are pretty much done.

    2. 2 from3. Ramsey, Mata or Fabregas?
    3. Mata+Ramsey > Hazard + Erikson?
