The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team†(RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

      I like this. Good balance all round. Think there may be better options than Rio and Albrighton though, they're probably the ones Id be tempted to swap..

        Rio rotates nicely with the others though. I tried to use Chester instead, but then it is not that appealing. And QPR have nice home fixtures in the first 6 GWs, so I think it's worth a shout.

        With Albrighton, I am waiting for some news about his fitness, but not many stand-out 4.5m mid options tbh...

      Isnt Pantilimon ahead of Mannone? Manutd defence looks shit if we dont buy any defenders so Jones-> Huth/Shawcross looks better. Mid and attack looks good 7.5/10

        Disagree on GK - Bego pretty solid - although not my option.
        Disagree on Ward - Ward better than Clyne, fantasy wise.
        Bolasie is a your balsy gamble.
        Agree on Bojan. Unlike many on here, i'm steering clear.

    Chambers to become N.Taylor to fit into a rotation. Clyne plays from wk 2 as does Siggy.
    a few of questions.
    1. Goalkeeper. Krul/Foster rotation or Begovic/4.0 or Krul Elliot and spend 0.5 on defence?
    2. 2 from3. Ramsey, Mata or Fabregas?
    3. Mata+Ramsey > Hazard + Erikson?

      Not bad, I'm considering a similar layout.
      Having Krul as your only keeper a bit risky. Also there's a LOT of rotation happening in your Def. Do you have a plan if these things don't work out?

    Right, my final dilemma of the team before completion, need some insight from you pro's. My current team:

    GK - Krul (Elliot, 2nd NEW Keeper)

    DEF - Lovren / Debuchy / Caulker (Wisdom, Hutton)

    MID - Mata / Ramsey / Sterling / Hazard (Albrighton)

    FWD - Costa / Rooney / Bojan

    My predicament is Hazard or Fabregas...?

    If i downgraded Fabregas i would use the million to either upgrade Caulker to Evans and Elliot to Mannone for rotation OR just straight swap Caulker for Cahill.

    Worth the downgrade to strengthen the squad or is the current squad solid enough with weak subs?

    Comments needed lads, i cant spend any more hours pondering an imaginary team...!

          True. I would love to rotate keepers but i cant get out my head Caulkers goal threat. If he gets me a goal and a clean sheet he'll also bring bonus points, That's 15 possible points if it happens once, high risk high reward.

          Also, After Krul's first game against city he has some very favorable fixtures, cant say i would even rotate him even if i could in the early stages....

          Hazard... guess its better to start with him and downgrade to another option than have to make 3 subs to fund an upgrade to him if i needed too.... decisions.

          How nailed on is Wisdom..?

      I wouldn't have Costa and Hazard, especially when you don't have any Man City attacking cover.

      I think Costa will be the main man for CFC this season so I'd be inclined to drop Haz and pick up Silva, Nasri or better still Yaya.

        hazard did me well last season, but why do i always have my reserves about him...??

        I suppose if iv balanced the team well enough to keep him in then i should stick it out for a bit.

        He's the kind of player that will win you an assist being brought down for a pen (3 points) and then take the pen (5 points).... that should be enough to make my mind up..! Cheers

          Yeah stick. At his price, you can always look to switch to other alternatives after 2-3 weeks and not have to worry too much about price.

          Fab's pre-season form is strong, hoping though that Hazard will come good when it matters!

      pretty solid. Luis starting is uncertain. Albrighton likely just out for a short period, so you could leave him on there if you know that all others will start. no good alternatives for 4.5.

      Good.

      I would drop lloris for mannone on a rotation and upgrade Cameron to caulker for his attacking threat. Look at Camerons clean sheets last year... Not that impressive.

      You could have an alternative to Henderson with siggerdson as he takes dead ball duties and with bony up front that just means assists.

      Looks pretty good. Pretty light at the back though IMO with two 4.0 defenders and Marney. Would consider downgrading Terry or Hazard to make upgrades

      Goalies, Mids and Fwds all good. Only question marks would be Caulker and Wilson. But at their price, plenty of alternatives if need to switch early on.

        Ya struggling between Wilson/Cameron and getting that decision right. Caulker I just brought in but not too set on him. Does have a good GW1 fixture and an eye for goal. Will most likely shift him out for Clyne once Southhampton's fixtures get better

      I'm intrigued by Debuchy but avoiding with their fixture list and news of Mert and Kosc being doubts. Confident in Luis to start? Would consider downgrading one of the two and upgrading Bolassie possibly giving you another solid MID if you plan to rotate Siggy + Bojan home/away

        I think there will be more points from full backs this season, hence Debuchy and Luis. I'm a bit concerned with Luis starting but they did pay a lot for him and he is their only 'natural' left back. I like the Bolasie punt...and I honestly have no idea how Bojan is going to get on! Could go for Austin at £6m or Fletcher?

    Is James a definite starter for Man Utd considering Shaw is out for a few weeks and had fitness issues anyway? Thinking he will ply the left wing back and potential for assists and bonus as well as cheaper clean sheet option being a defender.

    I think this looks pretty good and fixture wise I think I have solid if not cheaper coverage in the back.

      Like the keeper and Cahill, not sure on the rest of the defence besides Colo. I have Moore too but only playing him this weekend. Midfield looks good, Wanyama is good for a couple of points off the bench. Great strikers too.

        Thanks, good feedback. Yep will mainly play Cahill, Colo, Naylor, with Wisdom (or more occasionally) Moore filling in the tough fixtures - seems to work until GW7/8

      Think it's solid - I like the Rooney/Costa combo. Lack of 'Pool coverage with no Studge or Sterling, but guess that's deliberate?

      I opted for Jovetic out of the Jovetic/Giroud/Dzeko trio. Will surely start GW1 and has shown great form as of late. Maybe downgrade Debuchy to Ward for that extra 0.5M? Poor fixtures and an inexperienced CB partnership if Chambers + Monreal start

        Thank you. Yeah Jovetic's pre-season form is good. Giroud could be rotated and I have been burnt several times with Dzeko. Debuchy does seem the obvious downgrade (no 4.5 midfielders to replace Davies) but I expect Arsenal to be solid once their CBs return and for Debuchy to improve on his goal and assist tally at Newcastle. Might be worth the risk to just stay as is.

        Thanks. I've had all 5 of Chelsea's experienced defenders in my team this week. I figure Cahill is the least likely to rotate and with his added goal threat is worth the extra. Tough. I'd downgrade Debuchy before Cahill.

        Caulker and Ward are options. I just see Arsenal with more clean sheets long term.
