The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Green Windmill is keeping 1.0 in the bank to address any issue that may arise from the first week’s games or for a rainy day. Is he right to keep this back? He is also open to suggestions to improve his bench and wonders whether Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard may be a risk given his reduced pre-season. Could his team mate Cesc Fabregas be a better choice?

    Dzeko seems to always score when given a chance, Jovetic outstanding in pre-season.

      Mannioni.

      I don't like chambers. Waste of a transfer when he needs to go in a week or two. I'd swap to Chester.

      I'd be worried with just newcatsle in goal. Weren't great defensively at the end of last year.

      Rest speaks for itself really. I would personally downgrade giroud as you already have Ramsey and upgrade Elliot and that defence a little.

      Also, I have 15.5 on a midfielder and forward. I'd need both to play near enough every week. Who would you get??

            Hmmm, I'd have to shove Mata in there, leaving 6.5 for that awkward third spot, which i'd have to choose either Austin or Bojan given their fixtures, and use the remainder left over elsewhere. OR, go Young & and 8.5? It's a toughie thats for sure.

              You would leave me 10 mil but not sure who I'd buy. Lukaku not fit. Giroud not nailed and got Ramsey. Will probz play tho. Dzeko not nailed on as soon as aguero returns. Adebayor. Not nailed on and then I'm getting really cheap. Would preferably be a captain choice not from arsenal chelsea or united. Out nasri and bojan at the minute and used money elsewhere but not really sure on that.

                Yeah it's an awkward price to cover a mid and foward aint it, good reasons for those mentioned under 10m, Nasri and Bojan aint THAT bad, for value though i see nothing wrong with Eriksen & Austin for 15.5m

      Like the strikeforce. I'm weighing up Dzeko or Giroud. Id get in fab over hazard and Hendo for me wont get you much. Id say Siggy is miles better value for him. Defence abit weak but you know that lol

        Cheers Whitoo, Yeah i'm back and fourth between Dzeko and Giroud myself, i desperately want to keep Hazard though, he's explosive.
        I agree with the Siggy move, plan is to bring him in for hendo after gameweek 1.
        As for defence, i don't really care much as long as one big hitter is there, one goal conceeded and that's it, game over 🙂

              Minutes i meant as opposed to starts. Its a tough call I just think for the money Cesc is better value. Its prob a case of cesc getting consistently 5-7 points and haz will get 2s and 15s . The question is would you captain Hazard? If so put him in. I would prob never skipper Fab or Haz currently.

      Not convinced by that tbh - putting a lot on Barkley, Tadic, and Punch there. None of whom are certain to be strong IMHO. Bony I think is a good shout - don't see him in a lot of teams but IIRC Swansea have good home fixtures once Utd are out of the way

      Like attack a lot, midfield quartet are strong, only concern for me would be the chance of some defenders getting rotated out (eg. Azpi/Luis, Bruce/Maguire)

    hey guys... i need help urgently on a question...

    Is it better to pick really cheap subs like zamora (4.5mil) or more expensive cheap subs sigurdsson (6mil) cos if some fixtures are on sunday could you not just sub the players playing on a sunday in on the sunday and everyone gets some points or is the team locked in so you cannot change your starting team during the weekend?

    Sorry for sounding stupid but I'm really stuck on this and would really appreciate any help and guidance on the matter.

    So a question that has been bothering me...

    Since Julio Cesar is back with QPR, is he simply just the 3rd string keeper with no chance of playing? Could he replace Murphy as the backup or even challenge rob green in the near future?

      Ramsey and Sanchez seems too much to me. Especially when you have five starting midfielders, could downgrade Alexis and strenghten defence.

      Also, Man Utd have good fixtures so may want more than one player? Depends if you think they'll be any good this season I suppose

    Considering Hazard + Austin instead of Eriksen + Jovetic....
    Austin was mustard in the Championsip and definite starter for QPR but too much of a punt?

      Looks pretty good. Particularly strong mids and strikers - very nice on paper.

      Will Vergini start? Also think there are better options at 4.5 than Vlaar.

      Realistically Jovetic and Austin wont stay in your team longterm. Jovetic especially as never guarenteed game time. So take a punt on whichever gives greater longevity in other areas.

      Pretty solid, almost GGT. I'm not really a Caulker fan but your punt. Also Bruce not nailed, maybe consider Moore or Duff in the short term.

      Looking pretty good. B.Davies not necessarily nailed on. Also consider if you're happy with playing only Begovic. If you are that's cool, but maybe change Myhill out for someone with less ownership to prevent value drop.

          I have to agree with you on keepers with those options.
          Problem with Bruce is that his ownership is so high, he may loose value over the next 2 gameweeks when he doesn't play. At least choose a 4m that's nailed on, may even gain value :).
