The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      Good punt with Jutkiesjkdfhfjsdhfjdhg. Not liking johnson at all and i think clyne is expensive for a depleted southampton

      It's a bit different, I like it. Jutkiewica is good bench fodder, until Sam Vokes is fit anyway. Not too sure about Adam Johnson, I think there are probably better options in that price bracket (Ireland, Sig, Arnie, Puncheon, Snodgrass).

      Adam Johnson is the concern for me, for his price its all a bit up in the air. I would downgrade or upgrade as appropriate.

      Pieters is a risk, but so is the stoke defence, I like overall though.

      I like the Johnson downgrade and Clyne upgrade. Maybe a bit risky to double up on QPR and Crystal Palace? (Green/Caulker and Spreoni/Ward)

            I have gone with Krul/Begovic. That would let you keep Caulker and Ward, but then you might have to look into changing Pieters.

      Bartley is likely to lose his spot, as is Yoshida, to incoming signings.

          Possibly, but with Bartley Swansea don't keep cleanies, and Yoshida faces Liverpool first week, so that is something to consider.

      Change Shaw for Phil Jones if you want United cover.

      Also Mannone is not guaranteed, if you want assured starts, Krul or Foster are the best.

      Just keep an eye on Sturridge and his fitness, other then that not bad at all.

      Baines is a massive gamble at the start, particularly if Coleman is out. I'd wait a few weeks to settle the Everton Defence.

      As is Naismith. Unless you plan to get rid of him straight away, he will lose his place within two weeks. Maybe fletcher at that bargain basement price?

      Manquillo could be inspried, but who will you be playing come the hard gameweek 2-3-4 area? Debuchy, and Manquillo will struggle

        Debuchy shouldn't have many problems for at least the first 3 GW's. Janmaat has reasonable fixtures all the way up to GW8 after GW1. Manquillo is the risk, but has decent fixtures after GW3 until November. Hutton and Wisdom will be gone after GW3 definitely for Moore of Leicester if he's still playing. Wisdom is always going to be bench fodder after GW1.

    A little exercise I've made myself do - make a team without using any of the 5 most selected and unflagged players in each position. E.g. Bojan is the 6th most popular striker but because #5 Lukaku is flagged, Bojan is also off limits. I've then left the team like this for the past day, coming back to look at it, but without changing it.

    Begovic - Hamer

    Terry - Jones - Clyne (- Hutton - Moore)

    Yaya - Hazard - Coutinho - Eriksen (- Wanyama)

    Dzeko - Bony - Pelle

    What I've learnt:

    - Back 7 is very close to what I've had before!

    - Plenty of choice in midfield, I'm most scared of not having Ramsey but otherwise it looks pretty good to me

    - Front 3 looks much worse without Rooney, and to a lesser extent, Costa/Sturridge

    - So if I go back to being able to pick anyone I want, I could just do Yaya -> Ramsey and Bony -> Rooney and fix my main issues with that team. This leaves me with a squad of players that I am now feeling quite comfortable with, but probably wouldn't have considered without the restriction.

      Looks great, to me. I am a massive anti-Yaya man, so Yaya down to Silva and Pelle and Bony up would be my choice, but nice work!

    More then happy to downgrade Fabregas to Coutinho or equivalent to upgrade the very weak defence.

      Very strong attack and midfield, your defence is extremely risky as you already know. Moore has extremely harsh fixtures in particular.

      I'd leave it as it is, the lack of City cover is worrying but in all honesty, your points will be coming from everywhere else so you should be fine.

          As a Liverpool fan, I'm biased. But he ran the show from the centre. Now that Suarez has gone, part of me is hoping we play a 4-2-3-1 with Coutinho behind Sturridge, Sterling and another out wide. Sounds good to me.

          One of. I watched most of the matches. The link up play between Sterling and Coutinho is great. They both seem fearless. Expect a lot of 'Coutinho Goal, Sterling Assist' and vice versa.

    Still debating Lamela and Snodgrass. Just changed from Eriksen and Siggy, but could change back. Very fluid.
