The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

Kicking off today’s RMT discussion is Evs.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    Hi all,
    Had a couple of seasons off whilst my beloved Blackburn have been in the depths of the Championship, but thought i'd do it again this season, please RMT (based on GW1):

    Green (Krul)

    Debuchy / Terry / Lovren (Wisdom / Hutton)

    Henderson / Mata / Hazard / Ramsey (Davis)

    Rooney (v) / Costa (c) / Bojan

    Siggy in for Henderson from GW2. Any advice appreciated.

      Don't get all this Bojan love tbh. If you're going to go with a 3 4 3, try and get an 8.0+ player to start each week. However, if you're planning on rotating between formations, I like this team.

        Yeh I will most likely go from a 3-4-3 to 4-4-2 an maybe 4-3-3. I'm hopin Bojan comes off, has looked really sharp in pre season. However, it is only pre season, so we'll see I guess.

      I like it overall
      if you need an extra .5M you could always downgrade Caulker to Rio!
      or get Foster in for Bego! rotates well with Krul and another .5M!!

        Thanks! Yeah, I might do some downgrading just to have some extra funds in the bank for the coming weeks. I could maybe do Van Aanholt > 4.0 as well

        I think I will wait a few GW's until I get some Liverpool cover. I've tried fitting in a Chelsea defender though, but can't seem to make it add up. I might just wait a little on that front too and see who Mourinho goes with 🙂 But both things are definitely on my mind.

      A decent 11, but the bench looks weak, particularly in defence. Downgrade a mid and sort the subs out. Possibly a rotating keeper with Krul.

      I think you have too many question marks in defence/goal.

      Mannone = ?
      Cameron = ?
      Bruce = ?
      Chambers = ?

      That gives you Lovren and Wisdom as guaranteed starters, and even Wisdom may not hold down a place long term.

      The midfield is great.

      The strike force is great.

      Rethink the defence a bit.

      Looks nicely balanced, with good depth. I personally would be inclined to drop Ireland to a 4.5 and use the extra money to upgrade Caulker to Jones (I know it's against the bandwagon of the day ::P ). H/ever that's personal preference. Like the tadic pick - more punty than I'm willing to go - but a good pick either way. Good luck!

      - Nicely balanced team, there are no outstanding problems with it
      - Cesc may be playing in the double pivot which may affect the amount of chances he has to score or assist.

        Cesc is only in there for the first 2 fixtures, then he's out for one of Sterling/Silva/Mata or whoever is performing!

        Hoping Cesc will be the creative force while Oscar gets up to speed again!

      Looks very good, but for me it's Mata over Fabregas all day.
      There is only one pick I don't like and that's Ireland, is he nailed on at all?
      And why do you go Terry over Cahill`? Not anything wrong with it, just pondering Cahill/Terry myself 🙂

      Tadic is actually turning out to be an amazing differential IMO, could reap rewards!

        Ireland is only in there as I needed a 5.0 / 4.5 filler and I didn't like any of the 4.5s..

        Just have a feeling. He's back playing under Mark Hughes again who got the best out of him at City, he's in the first 11 playing right behind the striker, he seems motivated (has vowed not to shave his beard until he scores 5 goals), and this is his last big chance. He's a good player, just a frickin head case 😛

          Terry is in there as I slightly prefer his goal threat over Cahill's and I just see Terry as the most reliable source of CS, attacking returns, bonus, and game time at the start of the season! He's the only premium defender I wanted 🙂

          The second he's dropped though I'm reverting back to ultra cheap.

      As others have said, well balanced.

      Personally i would downgrade Ireland to a 4.5m and Terry to Luis so I could upgrade Tadic - however I assume you've picked him for a reason!

        Ireland is being debated by most so I might have to revisit that one alright...

        I wouldn't pay 6 mill for a Chelsea defender unless I was assured of both starts and attacking chances, so that means if I want Chelsea defence, its gonna be 6.5!

    How to solve the Spurs problem?

      It's certainly something different! Love the rivière pick (ok maybe I'm biased 😛 ). Some will say your front line is too weak, but given that you have evidently gone for a number of punts, and that's your strategy, I'm not going to give you that kind of feedback. Looks nice - lock it in!

    How many game weeks do we expect Chambers to be in the Arsenal team for? Because if it's 2-3 that might be just enough time to know which of the other 4.5 defenders are nailed on (main one being Cameron really)
