Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Can't see there being any rotation in the defence at Chelsea. We had the same scenario last year with 5 top defenders including Ashley Cole, but Mourinho never rotated Cole in until right at the end of the season when rotation is actually necessary.

Am i the only one considering Haangeland over Ward?

Nailed on as the centre back, with a goal threat that once earned him 6 goals in one season (sit down Caulker owners) and the chance for bonus points assuming they still favour centre backs, even then Wardinho isn't much of a dribbler is he.

I don't think he is nailed (not what he once was apparently ). Likely starter but not nailed. Also, interesting that palace press release on Kelly doesn't refer to him as a right back but as a "versatile" defender. Anyone know where else he has played?

Green speroni. . Kolorov Terry chambers (wisdom hutton)... mata ramsey young sterling (4.5) Rooney costa jovetic
The plan is to drop chambers for a playing 4.0 after the main arsenal back line return which should coincide with Shaw return for utd, so then go Young for Hendo and depending on sterling form drop him for a 8.0 and up jovetic to bony or giroud looking at roughly 4-5 weeks for these changes

Anyone considering Austin and Puncheon rotation?
Austin got 14 goals in 17 home games last season, and rotation with Puncheon gives 6 good home games in the first 9 GW's, HUL, WHM, SUN, BUR, STO, LEI, hul, LIV, AVL

Looking for a £5M mid to rotate with Austin. Currently got Holliet in that slot which doesn't work from a tactical perspective but looks to be best selection for a bencher (other front 6 are usual big hit suspects).

Right, down to the final slot in my team...

5.0m to spend on a mid. Currently on Aluko for a bit of a punt. Is Hoilett a much better option? Anyone else I should consider at that price?

Mata ok if you have Rooney, not sure Young alone playing wingback covers Mata opportunity.

Mannone rotation risk and bad fixtures,

Naughton Wisdom and Bruce ... you need at least 3 guaranteed defenders of reasonable quality, you have 2.

I do not believe Pulis will be leaving. As a Palace fan I can tell you that there is nothing more than RUMOURS at the moment that there has been a clash with TP and SP (Chairman) over the potential return of Zaha. There will be a press conference tomorrow morning which should give us a clearer idea of what's going on. For the sake of FPL and Palace's defenders, I too hope he does not leave but currently with all the information at hand believe that it is nothing more than speculation and journalism gotten out of hand. I shall be remaining with Ward/Kelly in my squad until further notice 🙂
