Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

Anyone know anything about the new Saints signing Gardos? I might get him to solve my rotation puzzle if he is 4.5

Keep getting drawn to Kaboul, he's seemingly nailed on with Vertonghen having not played 1 minute of pre season and Dawson struggling with a niggle from the Celtic pre season match.

Tottenham undoubtedly the best defence available at 5.0m-14 clean sheets last season, bettered only by the Southampton defenders who's manager and best defender have left.

Considering him for the first few weeks and if his place looks vulnerable I can always switch him for whichever left back nails down a spot, or which ever centre back takes his spot alongside Vert since they're all 5 mil

I had him in my team, downgraded after all. Injury waiting to happen are no go for fantasy imo, unless they have huge potential ala kun, wally, studge etc... Kaboul def not one of them ... .

Curious about your guys' opinions: Who scores more goals this season, Chelsea or Liverpool?

Chelsea add Cesc/Costa, Liverpool lose Suarez, but Liverpool scored 30 more goals than Chelsea last year... I still think Liverpool will be the more attacking side this season, but I kind suspect this is a minority opinion.
