Welcome to our annual attempt to pick the best and worst options in the Fantasy Premier League game and assess how the forthcoming Premier League season will shape up.

As usual many of  our last season predictions proved to be terrible.

Among the worst of our predictions was Mark’s assertion that Andreas Weimann would be the best differential and highest scoring budget forward in FPL and Paul’s belief that Roberto Soldado would finish the year as top Premier League goal scorer.

My forecast that Kolo Toure would be the best budget defender and Crystal Palace would be relegated proved equally embarrassing.

Applebonkers was also left with egg on his face by labelling Hull defender Curtis Davies as the worst signing of 2013/14, while Granville’s optimism that Iago Aspas would be the best differential in FPL was another of our top clangers.

There were some predictions we nailed, though. Evs correctly reckoned Southampton would overachieve, while Fulham would falter. Andy and Mark can also feel pleased for themselves for correctly naming Seamus Coleman as the best budget defender in FPL last season.

Hopefully we shall all do better with this series of predictions for the forthcoming Premier League campaign.

    Evening Chaps!

    Two days to go, nearly there. Keep fine tuning the team but just have a couple of headaches. FYI this is my team at the moment:

    Begovic - Guzan

    Debuchy - Caulker - Terry - PVA - Bruce

    Ramsey - Cesc - Mata - Silva - Marney

    Rooney - Bojan - Dzeko

    My head ache really is Silva & Dzeko or Barkley & Costa. Thing with the latter is it means 3 chelsea and no city, but I do want Costa! Alternatively I could swap Dzeko and Cesc for Costa and Barkley. Any thoughts? Other than that I'm happy with the balance. Appreciate the help!

    Fletcher or Bojan?

    On Bojan just now. Potential for him to go both bomb and have a streak. Don't think he's got a long run of form in him.

    fletcher does have potential for good form if he can stay injury free.

          True. Although I think he will certainly be starting the season at least and his starting place will be down to form. I've a feeling Fletcher will start on the bench.

        I've gone Fletcher. Lad returned to preseason early to get his fitness back and he has looked sharp in the games i've seen. Wickham is his only competition for the lone role up top and Gus has played Wickham out wide with some success.

      Extremely close to my team, same keepers, midfield and almost same defence. Only real difference is that instead of Baines I have used the money to upgrade Bojan to Graziano Pelle. Southampton have the best run of games but due to Shane Long arriving, place could be under fire if he doesn't hit the ground running

    i really think sanchez will do great season but im having mata who i doubt so much. so i would upgrade him but doing this means i will downgrade ddg for 2x4.5 keepers and cahill to a 6m chelsea defender azp/luis.

    so my questions are if u have time to help:

    1. is it a good move?

    2. should i wait to gw2 to be sure who will be nailed azp/luis?

    3. who instead of mata for now or should i keep him although im not so sure about him?

    by the way i have ramsey and giroud. cahill and costa. streling and young

    Howard

    Coutinho Young Fabregas
    Van Persie Sanchez Bojan

    How can I improve? Thinking of changing young for siggurdson? Also rvp for Rooney? Unsure what to do, any suggestions on how I can improve anywhere? Got 1 million left over

      RVP-> Rooney
      Young -> Siggy
      Coleman-> Lovren
      Howard->DDG

      Everton have terrible fixtures to start with, bring in their players after that. Young nailed on for just now but not a long term option. RVP not had a pre-season after the WC.

      Spend whatever you have left upgrading wherever you feel fit.

      Mate I'm still unsure of this one, lamela has been in since day one for me, but Eriksens set piece potential for assists and goals is awesome, you can be guaranteed they both nailed tho!
      My gut feeling is poch will bring the best out of lamela this season, I hope so anyway 😉

    Since no one here is picking them, I just want to get it on the record that I think this is the year that Arsenal breaks through for a title. I'm not a Gunners fan by the way.

    No one predicted Pulis would be the first to go.

    Bench Bojan or Henderson for the weekend? Currently going for hendo though having second thoughts.

    Anyone else also thinking of doubling up on debauchy and chambers for the first few games?

      ATM I have both Debuchy and Chambers with a view to swapping Chambers to Yoshida, PVA or Coloccini once Mertesacker is back!

    Can someone rate my team:

    Howard (Myhill)
    Felipe Luis- Koscienly- Lovren- Davies (Coloccini)
    Barkley- Hazard- Coutinho- Nasri- Ozil
    Rooney (Ings) (Zamora)

    The 4-5-1 has proven to be FPL's most successful formation btw

    So Demi expects city to come 4th but Liverpool will be the biggest underachievers? Liverpool aren't expected by many outside of Liverpool to repeat last years heroics, even if they came 7th no one would consider them biggest underachievers it would just mean last year was a fluke. How low do you expect them to finish Demi?

    Hi could you guys have a look at this side, having some trouble as to whether my midfield is strong enough and see whether I've picked certain starters, Cheers!

    McGregor (Adrian)

    Coleman - Baines - Terry (Iloris - Browning [sounds like downing, ha!])

    Lucas - Fletcher - Toure - Hazard (c) - Tiote

    Lambert - Negredo - (Benteke)

    Could somebody please RMT, as it's my first time playing and I haven't had anyone look at it yet.

    GK: Begovic, Fabianski

    DF: Fonte, Cameron, Jones, Vlaar, Bruce

    MF: Mata, Ramsey, Fabregas, Eriksen, Sigurdsson

    FW: Rooney, Bojan, Giroud

    ^ The above team leaves me with 0.5m in the bank^

    Currently I'm looking at playing 3-5-2, with Bojan on the bench unless he impresses. Defence and goalkeepers would be rotated based on fixtures.

    Current concerns of my own include:

    No Hazard, as he could be a good contender for top points scorer this season.
    Fonte instead of Lovren and Debuchy (all are priced at 5.5m)
    No Cahill (I couldn't afford him, but hopefully I could get him in the future.)
    No Sterling or Barkley (mainly due to fixtures,plus i can downgrade one of my 9.0m midfielders to them -depending on form- and still have money to upgrade other aspects of my squad.)
    If Bojan doesnt do well,it may be difficult to upgrade him to Lukaku, Bony, Remy, Dzeko etc
    Fabregas may be used more reguarly as a CDM, limiting his points chances compared to Hazard.

    As it is I'm planning to hold onto the 0.5m to upgrade Jones to Shaw once he returns from injury, but I'd really apprectiate some feedback please 🙂

      Looks strong think van aanholt would be a better pick than simpson as your 4.5 defender. Mutch is a good pick the only other mid worth considering at that price would be craig gardner gets a fair share of goals and is usually on pens and freekicks. 5.0 midfielder elmohammady, hoilett or brady

    I have changed my team about a million times. Here is the most recent change.

    Foster / Krul
    Jones / C. Davies / O'Shea / Yoshida / Coloccini
    Hazard / Mata / Eriksen / Siggy / Mutch
    Rooney / Sturridge (!) / Bojan

    Got £1m in the bank

    This article has reconvinced me, or maybe just scared me into, shuffling my lineup to get Siggy and Caulker in.

    But.. do I start him (Siggy) over Bojan week 1?
