The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      Is Azpili nailed on with Luis in?

      Would suggest downgrade Azpi and upgrade Albrighton / Bojan

      Azpilicueta is a risk. Go for Cahill/Terry instead. Hazard to Fabregas. Sturridge has difficult fixtures. Go for Rooney/Costa instead they have easier fixtures at the start.

      Aluko is a bit of a nothing pick. Fair enough if he was 4.5 but you might as well downgrade him and use the money elsewhere

      i dont see the logic behind a sland def, agreed they were good last year but i presume you only plan to play him for his home games? if so, there home games are really crap to begin with.

      planning to bench austin most of the time i take?

      Get a cheaper GK. Replace chester with a £4.5m. Replace Luis to Cahill/Terry.

      The GK combo is too expensive IMO.
      Luis is a rotation risk, upgrade to Cahill/Terry
      Else looks good, though Jovetic over Dzeko IMHO.

        I like Giroud as he is interchangeable with Bony and Dzeko. Love Studge but worried about injuries like Aguero, Silva etc...

      You've zero arsenal attacking coverage, surely Rambo/Alexis are better picks than Yaya. Yaya to Rambo and Henderson/Siggy to Eriksen. Or else upgrade your defence with the money, 5.0 is a lot for a promoted team's defender

        Ramsey is my back up for Yaya, I thought it would be easier to swap Yaya for Ramsey gw2/3 if not on fire like last season. Taking out Yaya gives me no City coverage too!

    Concerns for me:
    - Davis. Is he the best 5.0M midfielder out there? Want a mid who can fill in for Siggy in GW4, 6, and 8 to start with. The question is if I maybe should just downgrade him to a 4.5 to upgrade a 4.5 defender to a 5.0M?
    - I originally was on the thought of Costa flopping, until he showed himself in the last pre-season games. I kind of hate having him in my team 😀 Though he needs to stay, not keen on Hazard
    - Jovetic is a short term punt, will let him go if he fails to make the XI after a few games.

    Thoughts friends? 🙂 .

      Fab -> Eriksen (you have Costa already, I guess would be the thinking)

      A. Young -> 5.0 mid (like Ward-Prowse or someone who could pay off later, since you have Man U well covered with Mata and Rooney)

      For me the def is too weak.

      Not convinced by jovetic, severe rotation risk and bad fixtures.

      Vlaar has horrible fixtures and a villa will struggle this year imo.

          Its a tough one.

          I went without rooney and costa together to try and get a strong midfield and reasonable defence (In my eyes anyway). I have Mata, Ramsey and Sterling as well.

          Hazard>Fab or Oscar? Save cash and still have coverage for Chelsea.

          What about replace jovetic and then swap a midfielder for Nasri or Navas for City coverage?

    One more for me. This time with some my own thoughts, if that could open it little bit.

    I have decided to go with three 3-4-3 and currently Jovetic is selected based on pre-season.
    - I have problems with ManU coverage, Mata & Rooney have been all the time, but earlier it has been Jones or DDG to choose the third. Now I'm thinking bring Young instead of Albrighton(or other 4.5 mid)
    - Not happy with Caulker and Chambers is for couple of weeks
    - I'd like to have Coutinho for pool coverage, but also Fab and Eriksen are on list

    - I was stuck between Sturridge/Hazard or Costa/Sterling +££, in the end I went for the second option as I feel Chelsea have the better fixtures initially
    -Chambers is a bit of a punt, not sure if I should switch to Debuchy and downgrade Jones (Man U defence looking v dodgy)
    -Apart from that I'm reasonably happy (I think!)

      No sure about Liverpool defence - Lovren might be pricey for the return.

        I think you need to re think tactics and get a Chelsea defender in there. If downgrading Austin to bojan helps then 100% worth it.
