The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    0.5 ITB: Should I do Ward for say Debuchy?

    My defence is a bit shaky I fear, dont like the fact that I have no Chelsea def cover...

        i like the fact that it gives me the options to wait out and see which bandwagons will occur.

        atm i have some scenarios to use it after GW1 or 2:

        1) Kelly or PVA => Vertonghen or Luis
        2) Siggy => Tadic
        3) Rooney or Costa => Sturridge or Kun

        all depends on how they roll

      Did you consider Ramsey or Sanchez at all? Would also be sitting a little easier with a MUN or CHE defender/GK. Terrifyingly good forwards, of course, is the upshot of all that

        i'd love to get an extra 6.0 mil defender in there, but there aren't any good nailed on options atm. (i'm thinking vertonghen, luis, mertesacker, koscielny, Kompany, mangala)

      Was just about to ask if you were planning on playing Hendo every week, but then I saw your gravatar 😉 Marney is a big weakness imo because Bojan suddenly becomes a more important player as he'll get a few extra starts in your team, but otherwise a good side

          Haha that's one way to look at it! The way your squad is set up, getting Siggy in for Marney would be better given Siggy and Bojan's rotatability. It's tough to move those funds around though so it's totally your call.

      I think you've invested a little too much in defence. Downgrade at least one of the expensive trio to upgrade either Arnie or Austin IMO

        I have spend 33.5m for all defenders and keepers... I think this is an acceptable amount as these positions represent 47% of any team.

          Agreed, u have a well balanced team, defence is fine. I think ur 2 9mill and 8 mill midfielders deceivingly make your team look short of a few bob.

      Dont like the Newcastle GK commitment and think lack or arsenal attack may bite you. Haz, Mata, Ramsey plus Arnie or Siggy and someone to Rotate with Austin may be better.

      back row solid although would be tempted to do Debuchy to Chambers for gw1 to help the midfield. Man utd defence to be proven too.

        Did have him. Decided to spread my attack and get Sterling plus upgrade Luis for a more secure Chelsea defender. It was a safe move, I'll admit.

        Cheers, yeah don't trust myself with Pieters entirely right now. Caulker could be a very good shout. Loved him as a Swansea asset couple years ago and since I have Siggy I might just go and double up on that nostalgia!

      I like this a hell of a lot. I would copy this defence as my own but I don't have the balls to risk Luis, so I've spent the extra 0.5 on Terry.

    Midfield and up front are done for me. My questions lie around my defence and whether the money can be spent better. Currently:

    Krul / Elliott
    Debuchy / lovren / Caulker / Wisdom / Bruce

    Debuchy for evans? Any other ideas?

      everyone will say no lovren but i think pool could surprise..
      i'd change bruce for one of duff or moore who seem nailed long term then you can just leave them there and not have to waste a tranny when wisdom invariably loses his place to gamboa

    janmaat has looked quality going forward for the toon, haidara a short term punt as is chambers at arsenal

    either will rotate with Vaanholt,
