The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

    Upgraded keeper to Begovic, while still having good rotation. Dropped Arnautovic because I didn't want double Stoke attack or £6.5m sitting on the bench. Mutch still allows me to play 5 in midfield while also being in a good position and having set pieces. Taylor seems more a solid option and likely starter than Wisdom, along with Swansea again having good rotation with my Arsenal and Chelsea defenders, as well as Hull and QPR defenders.

    janmaat has looked quality going forward for the toon, haidara a short term punt as is chambers at arsenal

        Thanks mate, Caulker it is. I just liked the idea of having an attacking wingback in def, but youre right he will take time to settle. Hasnt played any friendlies I think either, so it is unlikely that he will start on weekened

    Just did some tinkering, Manquillo + Hutton -> Chambers + N Taylor.

    Team now looks like this:
    Foster (Krul)
    Debuchy Chambers Caulker (N Taylor, Kelly)
    Mata Ramsey Sterling Hoillett (Siggurdsson)
    Rooney Costa Dzeko

    Thoughts? Considering switching Debuchy to Lovren or should I stick with double Arsenal defence?

      I'd bring in Lovren, Liverpool have a decent run after gameweek 3. Other than the goalies, a good-looking team.

      the double qpr bench will grate when they have a bad fixture
      steve davis and ward prowse look decent for 5
      or maybe just get a 4.5 mid and forget about the sub.

        Cheers. I like Holliet and there is a hope that he may play OOP and maintain form and I could benefit from potential rise.

        However, agree if I cant rotate, it should be bench fodder (Marney) and pray Austin finds last season form in the BPL.

        Dunno, think Chambers is a bargain, and Arsenal have better games in the 3 first rounds. Stoke is up against City in 3 round, and could easily not get a CS against Villa in first round. Thanks though, satisfied after 100+ transfers 🙂

    Foster (Myhill) - I find whenever I rotate budget GKs I end up picking the wrong one
    Jones; Terry; Davies (Hutton, Moore) - Am planning to bring in Luis for Terry if he starts)
    Hazard; Ramsey; Eriksen; Young (4.5 m - currently Albrighton) - Will swap Young for Siggy when/if he gets dropped
    Rooney; Costa; Bony

        Thanks for taking the time to reply. Bony was one of my first picks - but now I'm a bit worried due to the uncertainty over his future and I think Swansea are going to struggle. Lukaku/Giroud were my other options, but they are both really frustrating. Its B Davies - again he may be getting the boot if he doesn't look like starting!

      That is the 5.0 Million pound (i.e Ward/Speroni) question

      I had Ward and got rid, dont know what kind of effect it has had on the team. Huge shame for them though, could have been a great season

      Not necessarily a better defender, but based on competition I think Hutton is more likely to play than Bruce.

    Caulker got 122 points last season in a relegated team that only kept 7 clean sheets. Cahill only earned 147 points. How well do you think he'll do this year?
