The Rate My Team Discussion

With so many of you seeking advice on their teams before August 16, we thought it would be prudent to run a daily community article to provide a dedicated focus for “Rate My Team” (RMT) requests.

Each day ahead of the new season, we’ll select one of the Fantasy Football Scout team and post up their own RMT request to open up discussion and encourage others to post their own. We’ll turn the comments over to you to provide a useful place for those seeking advice and highlight some of the key decisions under deliberation.

Please nudge those posting RMTs in other articles to visit this daily RMT article. Also, when posting requests, please remember to be courteous to those who take the time to help out. Equally, if you’re an experienced Fantasy manager with some views on initial line-ups, take time out to dip in and contribute – the Fantasy Football Scout team will be doing their upmost to offer their feedback as the discussion develops throughout the day.

A Chelsea defender is a must for Evs, should he downgrade Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas to Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen and get a 6m Chelsea defender or downgrade Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to his team mate Aaron Ramsey to give himself 6.5m to spend.

Recently Tottenham’s Ben Davies had been ousted from his team, as again uncertainty with Danny Rose continues. Which is the best route into the Tottenham defence? Stevan Jovetic is a short term punt. Who should he replace him with should he fail to cement a place in Manchester City’s starting XI?

      Then pick the 2 def, to fit in with ur other ones

      *I like coveage so wouldnt go for fab + costa in same team

    My thinking ( 😀 ) is.....
    - I want United & Chelsea defence. Debuchy is then part of the next best defence and when he has tough fixtures, Chester/Bruce rotate (rarely).
    - I don't see another standout striker at this stage apart from Rooney and Costa.... using Bojan (who has great fixtures) allows me to spend elsewhere.

    Without the sacrifices, I struggle to get what I want.

    So, draft one.. opinions? 😎

      Excellent team but again Jones is such an injury risk so I'll never go with him. You comfortable playing bojan every week?

      The back-line looks a bit creaky (with players not being nailed), and I wouldn't spend so much on GKs. Maybe move the funds about a bit. The midfield is very nice though. 🙂

      Best attacking fixtures out of GW 1-10 so he has plenty of opportunity.

      I would wait and see, not sure how he has performed in major leagues. Apparently he's a bit of a joke in Italy.

      Only done well in the Dutch league so far and players coming from the dutch league to England are a bit hit and miss to say the least. i.e both Dirk Kuyt and Luis Suarez were goal machines in Holland, only one was a goal machine over here.

        I like rooney a lot, but can't fit both costa and rooney in the team without breaking the balance. I would like to have sanchez in the team before he gets too expensive to swap in case he has a good start to be honest, is that a wrong way to think?

      Evans is injured apparently. Better to get Jones or avoid United defence altogether (not a bad alternative). Davis and Bojan are slight rotation risks so perhaps consider going with only one of them to reduce that risk.

      Looks fine really. I don't like Villa's first 10 fixtures so I'd avoid Vlaar. Personally I'm not a fan of Bojan but I understand the appeal of rotation with Siggy.

      Dummet not nailed on, Ward mightn't be a good pick either now that Pulis is gone. Overall defence is a bit light, consider saving where you can and upgrading Ward.

      Not to sure on Kelly now that Pulis is gone. Filipe Luis nailed on? Stick with Hazard, he's on pens. I like you're attack, all starters. Maybe Dzeko rotation risk, but Aguero gets injured alot. Midfield, defence and keeper solid.

      I like the Mangala pick, not many have noticed him yet. Just beware that City have rough opening fixtures and I certainly wouldn't expect clean sheets.

    Decided to start from scratch, bit top-heavy but what do you think?

    I'm getting sick of this, so I'm hoping I can settle on this.

    Clyne/Manquillo/Chester/Ferdinand/Wisdom
    Mata/Sterling/Eriksen/Young/Albrighton
    Sturridge/Rooney/Costa

    Thoughts?

    I was locked into a 3-5-2 with Bojan, but I feel like that would be harder to adjust out of than this. I would like to get Lukaku in after he finds his feet, so I don't think I'll play all season with the three high-priced strikers. This seems like it should work for the first few weeks though.

      Too much liverpool especially with their tough start, definitely look to lose manquillo unless you're swapping him after gwk1.

        Great point. Liverpool's fixtures do look fantastic after the tough weeks 2 and 3 though. Perhaps I'll swap Davies into that spot.

      A but jovetic instead of dzeko! use the extra 0.5 to give some bench more strength, maybe keeper?
