The Carlos Tevez transfer saga has taken another twist with news that Corinthians have pulled out of their bid to acquire the Argentine’s services overnight. With the Brazilian transfer deadline closing tonight, Tevez’s former club have moved to confirm their interest in the deal has now ended by releasing an official statement:

“While acknowledging the efforts of Manchester City, and everyone involved in the negotiations, there wasn’t enough time for the transfer to be completed. We are aware our fans wanted Tevez to join our club again and we hope we can have the player with us in the future”

Although City were willing to make certain allowances for the deal to go through -including agreeing to various staggered payments- Corinthians appear to have little financial muscle and were reportedly unable to even afford the initial £8.7m down payment.

The collapse of the deal leaves Roberto Mancini with an unhappy star player and the City boss will surely still want to move Tevez on in order to avoid any squad unrest. A move to Inter Milan has been cited, once again, and although this will hardly help alleviate the player’s homesickness, Tevez clearly wants out of Manchester as soon as possible- both Samuel Eto’o and Wesley Sneijder have been linked with possible swap deals.

The collapse of the deal also may also have a knock-on effect for Sergio Aguero. Aguero was considered to be on the verge of moving to Eastlands as Tevez’s replacement and his club Ateltico Madrid have already acquired a new forward in anticipation of his departure, snapping up Adrián López from Deportivo La Coruña. City still look likely to complete the Aguero purchase over the next few days, thus beating the likes of Juventus to his signature.

It’s not as if City are lacking in top-class forwards- both Edin Dzeko and Mario Balotelli could fill the breach in the likely event of Tevez leaving and Balotelli has also had his say on the matter, moving to assure City fans of his intentions for next season:

It doesn’t matter if Carlos is here or not. If Carlos is here it’s good but if he goes away I’m sure someone else will arrive. I’m excited about the way things are going at the club. This is a good club, the players are amazing. I hope there will be a lot of goals to come from me this season. I know I can score a lot more. I will show this season what I can do.

With six weeks left till the closure of the domestic transfer window, this story is likely to run and run.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Topic of discussion. Players you would like your club to sell.
As a Spurs fan my list is currently quite large
Keane, Hutton, Bentley, Crouch, Defoe, Jenas.
    I'm sure there's more.

Because he's never performed for Spurs and there's a lot of players ahead of him ...

Mac you can probably add Gomes & Palacios to that list

He's okay and yeah he's never really had a chance but he didn't set the world alight at Birmingham either. I think he may do okay at a Wolves/Stoke type team but he's not spurs caliber.

No way we should sell Lucas. Skrtel I'm on the fence about. There are better centre backs we could afford, but I'm not sure we'll go for them. He's a good lad though. El Zhar, Degen, Kyrgiakos, Poulsen, Ince, Cole, Jovanovic and N'gog are all players I wouldn't miss at all.

You need to sell Carroll ASAP, it's like in poker when you have pocket queens and the board flops Aces and Kings. You will never sell him for what you bought him for. Hell maybe Crouchy can beat him in a foot race.

I know what ya mean man I've always had a soft spot for him. He's a solid defender just has no pace an he'll just get slower as he gets older. But considering we've no left backs I don't see the point in selling him.

It will be, At porto he played wing, clearly he won't be playing wing with the like sof Nani Valencia and most importantly Young. So SAF will sit Anderson and probably Cleverly and tell them to sort out the center and not to worry about Fletcher roaming.

          @Rush he's lost weight.

Bebe's gone already, Owen can kick rocks for all I care.

Gibson is like a roach, he's hard to get rid of, but there's no doubt that everyone, (maybe even his mother) wants him gone.

As for Anderson, this WILL be his breakout year. He will steal goals from Berba and Park.

Perch, Ranger, Best, Routledge, Harper (controversial), Smith, Guthrie, Lovenkrands ... and Enrique - not because I want him to leave but because he's obviously going to leave and I'd prefer it to happen sooner rather than later

Really, Best?? And Lovenkrands?? Ok, as a matter of fact yall probably don't deserve them. Who carried yall when Carroll was hurt and after he left...Leon Best, yet you treat him like Leon Knight. Lovenkrands is a solid player as well, yet he constantly got the hot urine treatment. The rest can go.

Whilst not doubting the ability of Lukaku, Jovanovic's stats for a wide man were awesome in Belgium. He's hugely precocious in a physical sense, but I think he needs a year or two more.

For those with Firefox and having problems with warn down F5 keys try this.

I found it on the FISO forum and it's useful to indicate any change to any website and will do a scan every 2 minutes and notify you of any change. So it will be useful to tell you when there is a change to the FPl site.

Going back to Crouch/Ade (which will never happen as City won't sell to us for any price close to reasonable and he won't agree to our wage structure)

I'd far prefer Ade, on his day and up for out he is pretty skilful. Crouch is okay and all but, like a man able to fly but scared of heights is robbed of his greatest power so is Crouch. A very tall man who has never learnt how to jump properly.

Agreed Crouch, quite bizarre how a man his size can be that bad in the sir, but Ade, I'm not so sure. He's a bit trapped given that no other team in the world will match his current extortionate pay, so does he sit and fester on the bench? Or, aim for a MC pay-off, and take lower wage elsewhere?

Either way, I don't see him playing down the Lane anytime soon, sadly.

I say bin Berbs as well to help fund a move for CAM/DMs and give Kiko and Welbeck a little more development opps.

Thoughts on potential dark-horse candidates for this year? Who will be the Charlie Adam of 2011/12?

It was a mistake yes, the Torres deal if the manager which he did, kept playing midfielders who like to run with the ball at the opposition and did not have a playmaker in the midfield to give him(Torres) the ball where he likes it running on to it towards goal ,I am willing to take a risk and say if Modric goes to Chelsea you (Chelsea fans) will see a totally different Torres .

Yes it is disappointing. Clearly they need to plan their time better, but we are talking a tiny company with 11 - 50 employees if you look them up. Gino probably wouldn't be grinning so much in his twitter pic if we all knew where he was! LOL

What i find especially disappointing is their complete refusal to put any kind of holding statement on the site. These people may be able to build websites but they have absolutely no idea re PR - it is tragic.

I prefer Alex and Terry. What kind of attitude was that when he was shouting on Carlo? He will never respect the manager. He played 2 games and what suddenly he is bigger than the manager?

Essien is past IMO. He is liability nowadays and too injury prone. Previously he was irreplaceable, but now I'd rather give chance to Josh.

Nevermind. It's just a HD version of the Wii one 🙁

"That's all set to change this year with the release of GoldenEye 007: Reloaded, which is a HD version of the Wii remake, rather than a remake of the N64 version. That means you get Daniel Craig instead of Pierce Brosnan, a brand-new story, and a new multiplayer rewards system."

Yeah it did to be fair.

But I got excited thinking it was a remake of the N64 one 🙂

The one that i saw definitely was a remake. They stayed quite true to the original as well

Etherington is guaranteed to come in at 5.5m - 6.5m ... 6.5m is probably a bit expensive but I'm interested at 6.0 or under.

I really rate players who take a penalty pretty highly ...

If you're after budget strikers, I think it may be slim pickings ... Ba and Zamora? People banding Holt's name around but I don't know if there's bit of a rotation risk there with Morison, Jackson & Vaughan .... any Norwich fans out there?

hmmm. Not IMO. Those 3 striker spots are very precious to me. Much easier to take a budget midfielder IMO

Wigan look a busted flush to me without Zogbot. Hard to find FPL value in a relegation candidate, Adam aside (whose rarity rather proves the rule).

IMO going to avoid taking a punt on any players from West Brom, Wigan, Wolves, Norwich or Swansea until some start to show they might be worth ago. Too many other solid cheap players in mid table teams. With the likes of Stevie G getting on, Fabs and Teves's bubbles bursting and a hard to find nailed on starter in the top teams it's going to be a fun start to the season and i think wild cards are going to be popping early

Yeah this is going to be an interesting FPL season - assuming we'll be able to play! Seriously, the big FPL names may not be so reliable anymore and a lot of top players in the big clubs are rotation risks or have fitness concerns.
