With Gameweek 1 concluded, itβs time to delve a little deeper into the data in our first “Big Numbers” article for members of the campaign. We analyse the display of Arsenalβs new wide man against Palace, the QPR front pairing at home to Hull, Liverpoolβs ever-improving youngster, Southamptonβs delivery under Ronald Koeman and Unitedβs weekend scorer in the 2-1 home loss to Swansea.
A cap of max 0.1 rises per week?
Open ControlsNobody knows this - they could easily have changed the formula.
I'd be quite happy if they have, less hassle!Open ControlsIf they go back to the formula of a couple of years ago 0.3 rises will be a thing of the past. I think the increase a 0.2 needed double the transfers of a 0.1 rise and a 0.3 rise needs 4 times the amount - each time resetting when a rise occurs.
Open Controls
You seem so sure - why didn't siggy rise then? My point was, could be a new rule this season
Open ControlsMy guess is an old formula coming back. Twice as many NTIs for the second rise (and likewise NTOs for the second fall). It was like this up until 4 seasons ago. I guess well find out tonight.
Open Controls
Why isn't Sanchez coming up in the comparison tool?
Open ControlsNevermind- FFS getting all exotic on me
Open Controls
Will Hazard drop this week?
Im contemplating
Jovetic to Pelle
Mata to Hazard. -4
Would solve the Mata problem and maximize chelsea attack
But if Hazard going to drop it pointlessOpen ControlsI'm tempted by Jovetic > Pelle too.
What happened in NRL Fantasy? I see you got knocked out.Open ControlsJust two poor gameweeks at the wrong time, happens in the head to heads
Open ControlsWas leading the comp for a couple weeks, still top 50 though
Open ControlsNice. I was away at the start of the season and missed the first 2 weeks, currently just outside the top 100 though.
Open ControlsInjuries have absolutely crippled me. Season is officially over!
Open ControlsSame. Used my last trade to get in Fifita. Still got a really strong 17 but another injury will leave me pretty thin.
Open ControlsFifita is such a beast. I've got one trade left with Fensom still in my team, and now I'm hearing Woods won't play :/
Open ControlsSegeyaro seems my only injury doubt this week. Mortimer to come in if he doesn't make it.
Open ControlsInnsie
Sego cleared to play this week.
Which team is yours Merseyside Red ?Open Controls
Long looked more dangerous than Pelle when he came on..I would watch Pelle for another week...Hazard won't drop
Open Controls
Yesssssssss!!!!!!
It's official !! I've won the Scout pick Challenge!
I'm genuinely thrilled!
It's been a hard fought campaign and we gave it our all to get over the line!
A huge amount of credit goes to my back-room team tirelessly and selfishly driving the challenge forward-all the way down to my tea lady-Christina!
Ok I got lucky as I was first to reply and most didn't want to scroll!
Free transfers and a sneaky Wc on the way to those that supported me!
A huge thank you to all who backed me, it was a landslide in the end no real competition out there πOpen ControlsRephrasing my last question:
Jovetic->Bony for a hit a good transfer as I don't have Siggy?Open ControlsHow do you reckon you would go if you just followed all bandwagons all year? i.e. Mata to Fab this week plus Siggy in and then next weeks one and the week after that etc. You'd have to do well because you're just following the form. It can't be that simple can it?
Open ControlsTrigger
You said in your post that 'Every .1 that is lost takes a .2 rise to recover.' Unless the rules have changed I don't think this is true. I think this only applies when a player is above your purchase price. If you buy Mata for 9m and he drops to 8.9m but subsequently rises to 9m then your selling price is 9m again.
Disclaimer, I have only just woken up so my brain may be playing tricks on me πOpen Controlsthe way I read it it thought he meant if fab goes up 0.1 and mata down 0.1 it's a 0.2 turnaround. Am I wrong?
Open ControlsThats true with the individual player. Im thinking more of the situation where Mata falls , i end up selling for say 8.. Then someone like siggi would have to go up an entire million for me to get that .5 back
Open ControlsSelling for 8.5
Open Controls
Sorry I'm not Trigger, but you're right WR. I posted this on the previous page: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2014/08/19/the-big-numbers-gameweek-1-3/?hc_page=29#hc_comment_7989671
Open ControlsDiva, unrelated fantasy question, how you set a link to specific part of the page? Old man here
Open ControlsPress the # next to reply on the comment you want the link to go to.
Open Controlsthanks!
Open Controls
I clicked the hashtag next to reply (it brings up "permalink" when you put your mouse over it) and it brought the comment link up in my browser's address bar. Copy that and paste it where you want it and Bob's your uncle.
Open Controlsthanks!
Open Controls
I read your post on that page. This actually links to the property situation of negative equity. The property you own may fall below the price you bought it for. This only actually matters if you want to sell or, as usually happens in recession, a person loses their job and cant pay the mortgage. Here you will take a loss
If you continue to own the property and wait out the dip once you achieve equity and sell you have the profit.
actually after writing that the similarities are tenuous, sorry!Open ControlsCheers π
Open Controls
Eric Dier has gone up by .1. Someone please tell me why?
Open ControlsHe done a goal and a CS. 5m spurs defender.
If you were unaware of spurs likely first choice back 4 when vert gets back which I am sure many aren't then he looks like a good choice.
Who knows, he could keep his place, Kaboul is nothing special. I doubt it thoughOpen ControlsHe a good prospect, can see him replacing Kaboul. Once Vertongen back
Open Controls
Because he's going to score again on gw2 and ride the price rises to he sunset.
Open Controls
Thank God i don't have Mata and picked Sterling over him in my final draft. Saved me from a lot of thinking and analyzing.
Open ControlsI have to play Sterling before Austin right?
And Debuchy before PVA?Open ControlsSterling yes. Not the latter one though.
Open ControlsSurely Utd are going to score against Sun? So basically hoping for attacking points, no?
Open Controls
Think i'm missing a Chelsea mid...any suggestions for this team? cheers
Schezny
Terry Jones Chester
Siggy Eriksen Fabregas Young
Rooney Costa Sturridge
Subs Gilks Chambers Wisdom MarneyOpen ControlsLooks good to me! Eriksen -> Tadic, could be a goer? although Eriksen has a good home fixture to QPR. Considering doing Lamela -> Tadic myself.
Open ControlsTough to dump eriksen with qpr at home.........might just save the transfer....although I know no Chelsea mid will come back to bite me in the ass
Open Controls
Th Worst ffs pre season bandwagon has to be Ashley young.
discussOpen ControlsWhat were they thinking π
Open ControlsI have no idea. A look at Young's history at United screams out saying No!
Open Controls
It only got rolling about 2 days before the season started π
Open ControlsDoosra started it weeks ago.
Open Controls
What if he score a hat trick against Sunderland?
πOpen Controls
Transfers:
Lamela -> Tadic?
or
Luis -> Kaboul?
or hold transfer..?
Consideration:
Luis may deadweight 6m and not being played
Lamela may not perform and be subbed although playing QPR at home is a good fixture to hold him for. Southamtom have favourable fixtures. Holding onto the transfer does not seem that bad idea.. I have most bandwagons already (Sterling, Siggy, Fab, PVA, Clyne).
Any input appreciated.Open Controlsseems Mata fall is slowing down - could be he wont' fall after all
Open ControlsMany would of sold before the Fab price rise, the exodus should slow, especially as people start looking forward rather than back
Open Controls1. Transfers usually slow mid-week.
2. Mata to Fab isn't a straight swap any more.
3. As Trigger says, after the initial flurry people begin to look more towards next weekend's fixtures rather than back at last weekend.
Having said that, I wouldn't want to call it.Open Controls
Are Lamella owners giving him another chance this week? I assume he is not gonna fall in price? Only option I can see at 8mil is Tadic?
Open ControlsYeah I'm considering that move. I might hold onto him one more round and give him a go at home to QPR. I didn't watch the Spurs game, did you? would be nice to know if he played well and if he was subbed out because of fitness or poor form..
Open ControlsHe was playing in a team with 10 men. Wasn't great but was taking players on and did beat a few defenders. Though his passing was poor which should improve. By the time he was subbed, he was looking tired.
Open Controls
I'm keeping and keep an eye on de jong as a replacement
Open ControlsI thought they both looked pretty awful at the weekend.
Open Controls
Marcus Rojo. Prospective price and points? Worth a go?
Open ControlsSo which 4.0 defender looks the best: Dummett, Moore, Duff or Roberge?
Open ControlsMoore. Maybe dum if he keeps his place.
Open Controls
Bego (gilks)
Terry debuchy chester (wisdom caulker)
Siggy rambo sterling s.davis (marney)
Costa roo giroud
3.0. No FT
Do I take a hit somewhere?Open ControlsColoccini worth playing ahead of either jones or Debuchy?
Open ControlsI have made a spreadsheet which analyses players and helps identify what players to pick and what ones are best value for money.
If you want to use the spreadsheet you can access it at:

Would really appreciate some feedback, so please let me know if you find any errors or would like to see something added. Intending to add fixture analysis and an interface to enter your own team that shows how they are performing so it is easier to see if there is anyone you need to sell.
==========================================
How To Use
==========
1. The tabs you want to use are GKCalculations,DefenderCalculations,MidfielderCalculations & ForwardCalculations. The other tabs are just used for processing data.
2. Point Per Game (PPG) column identifies what player is likely to score the most points.
3. Points Per Million (PPM) identifies the best value player but does not take into account the number of games they have played.
4. Points Per Million Per Game (PPMPG) identifies the best value players as well but is more accurate as it takes into account the number of games a players has played.
5. Points 4 weeks identifies how many points a player has scored over the last 4 weeks which shows who is in form.
6. The performance indicator shows if a player is performing below average, average or above average over the last 4 weeks.
======================================Open ControlsNo one talking about Sanchez anymore? What do we reckon.
Open ControlsHe will be a solid player. But I said at the start his price looked mad and I still think that. It's not just him, it's what that extra 1.5 can do in the rest of your team. Sanchez and tadic, or fab and Ramsey. It's a no brainer
Open Controls
Current Template Team ?
Looking at price rises this week and based on chasing last week points, would I be correct in assuming the following is the current Template team (assuming players purchased pre price rises) ?
I am not suggesting this is the best team myself but am just picking up current trends.
Will be interesting to see how it would do this week or more interestingly how 'current' it still looks in a few weeks perhaps even after this weeks games.
Krul
Vlaar / Chester / PVA
Ramsey / Cesc / Sterling / Siggi
Costa / Rooney / Aguero
4.0 / 4.0 / 4.0Open ControlsPoints > Value. If you truly believe in a certain player, then keep him regardless of falls, because his price will rise again. The problem is that many are afraid to be wrong, and are selling anyway to avoid price drops. Shame on you, stick by your convictions. Every point matters if you want to win FPL.
Open ControlsI know π but fabregas just looked nasty. I'm okay with Rooney for united attack.
Open ControlsI agree GB. If we were sure Mata was a good pick for weeks and weeks, why should a single poor performance put us off? It's way too early.
Open ControlsI'm not sure it's one bad week Lucy - it's also the potential of at least a couple of alternatives.
Open Controls
Maybe... π
Open Controls
Say Mata drops to 8.9 then blanks on the weekend. Will owners be swift to get rid of him or wait until he explodes and gets back up to at least 9.0?
Open Controlsmany will get rid of him...and then just an hour before the deadline I will get him at a discounted price π
Open ControlsShould've gone with my gut and taken Silva.
Open Controls
I'm in this dilemma. If he doesn't drop until the weekend and then fails again he's gone. But oddly, if he drops before then anyway I'll probably ride him out. I always wanted to give my team two weeks without changes, and although my score of 54 is hardly great. It's not poor either so I don't need to panic transfer.
Open ControlsMy thoughts exactly. And my 59 isn't much better. Hopefully he doesn't fall before the weekend then gets a hatty.
One can dream, right?Open Controls
Many Mata owners will think the same way, as he goes to 8.8, 8.7, 8.6...
Open ControlsHe's out for me if there's another blank and Fabregas scores points again. Can't afford to sit and wait forever.
Open ControlsAgreed, but for either silva or cabella, as I have fab.
Open Controls
I can't believe the amount of people that think Suarez bit Chiellini to engineer a move to Barcelona
Open Controlsyoung goal and assist coming up
Open ControlsAny glaring changes required? Not sure whether to bring in Sigurdsson or save a trade for next week:
Begovic (Gilks)
Caulker, Terry, Debuchy (Bruce, Bartley)
Ramsey, Mata, Fabregas, Lamela (El Ahmadi)
Rooney, Costa, BojanOpen Controls
