Gently does it. Granville and I ease ourselves into the season with another thirty-minute bite-size podcast, gradually building up our fitness before we go full tilt next month.

Yes, it’s just the pair of us again, cuddling up in our intimate studio to discuss the events of Gameweek one, whilst casting one eye on the fixtures and events to come this weekend.

We get through the usual array of regulars, with Granville explaining how a wedding and a bout of childcare threatened to ruin his campaign, just as it gets out of the blocks. We reach out to all those Siggy benchers, whilst picking the bones out United’s limp corpse following their opening day defeat. We then chat Fabregas vs Hazard, Ivanovic vs the rest (they’re going to run and run) and sing Ultimate’s praises for helping the previously unloved play their part in our Fantasy seasons.

Pick at the buffet via this link, or dash straight to the main course via the handy player below….

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Looking up front i would say

      ------------------------------Mario-------------------------------
      Sturridge----------Coutinio/Sterling-------Coutinio/Sterling
      -------------------Gerrard----------Henderson------------------

      Just a guess

Probably right. In a worst case scenario he could rotate the strikers around the Champions League fixtures in this set up-

              ------------------------------Mario/Sturridge-----------------------
              Lallana----------------------Coutinio------------------------Sterling
              -----------------------Gerrard----------Henderson------------------

              Wait and see i guess

Even with the balotelli signing there is no chance studge moves to the flank !he will either play a 4-4-2 or 3 at d back if he has to play them together

Out of my three striker, Costa, Rooney + Sturridge, Costa was always going to be the one to down grade at some point to reinvest in the midfield, now I'm thinking it's Sturridge.

I've gone with the big three upfront, and I was always going to drop one, Costa at first, to reinvest in the midfield, once we knew who were the ones to get in midfield, and budget strikers.

Likewise. Planned to downgrade Sturridge though, but if Aguero hits the ground running (err without hitting the ground), then tempted to use that 0.5 in the bank for him.

I don't wanna go three big ones at the top for many more weeks, too many good midfielders, and I've only got two premium ones currently.

I'm in the same situation Sarj.

But once the strikers get their scoring boots on, would it not be better to hold out and change from Studge/Costa to another one big striker?

I.e. keep the big 3 up front.

I don't think he'll be playing as higher up as he was the other day against the saints

He'll be playing at the tip of the diamond with Studge and Balo up front, not exactly as the 'supporting striker' he was playing the other day

No way, we keep on saying that in the early half of the season but then options open up eventually. We don't have a decent option in the mid priced range just yet, hence it is better to play it safe with the big three up front 🙂

    Question on price changes.

Say someone is at -95% NTI but does not drop before GW2.

Will the -95% NTI be brought over? So say on Saturday there are more people selling the player and he comfortably is over -100%, his price will drop on Sunday 2.45am?

Or will the -95% NTI be resetted to zero?

I read the fiso FAQ but could not confirm which thinking is right.

With so many obvious choice this week the template teams are starting to all line up.

However, the astute manager will know the value of recognising the next champion before they've become popular and making the most of the early points.

So here are a few of my radar watches that could shape up well. All in my humble opinion of course.

Craig Gardner - has always played consistently and is nailed on in west Brom's midfield. He provided an assist on the weekend and loves bombing forward. Never been a flashy player or much of a fantasy asset but I think he's found a club where he can truly shine.

Gael Clichy - nailed on in one of the better defensive set-ups this guys always had attacking prowess in his skillset and loves a cross from down the wing. I wouldn't be surprised to see City rack up more shut-outs this year as they've consolidated their squad and are more focused than ever. I'd expect Clichy to bag a couple of guys and get at least 5 assist in a side that could accrue 15+ CSs throughout the season. Worth every penny.

Stewart Downing - finally looks settled and nailed on in a side that, unfortunately, do not have much to put away the good work of a guy like Downing. He had some fantastic touches against Spurs and if the likes of Vaz Te and Cole could finish he might have had a pair of assists. Obviously playing in a team that will struggle to score goals, but when Carroll returns or if they sign a genuine striker expect this guy to get the points.

Kevin Mirallas - wait until Everton's fixtures tidy up a little bit but Mirallas has always been class and I think has sold himself short in the EPL thus far. Again, he relies on some decent midfielders (which they have) to feed his runs and decent strikers (which they now have) to finish his good work. He's also capable of scoring himself and will start banging in goals when they settle.

Adam Johnson - always a favourite and clearly the most talented runner through Sunderland's midfield. This guys has suffered from a weak set of strikers in front of him for a long time, but the likes of Wickham and Fletcher need to hit their straps before AJ hits the scoresheet. He works hard up and down the field and is always loitering around the box when the Black Cats go forward. I wouldn't be surprised to see him with 140-180 points this year.

Any others' people have on their backburner?

These are original nominations thats for sure...

Think Mirallas is the most likely once fixtures come good, AJ is streaky and will have a least one hot patch this season and Downing will burn you

Not a good list of options I don't believe. Only Mirallas once fixtures clear has potential

Gardner - No history as a good FPL prospect, no signs of that changing
Clichy - Not nailed on, competing with Lolarov
Downing - Hasn't been good in recent years, has moments but no end product
AJ - A very streaky player, probably the second best option there behind Mirallas but I fear AJ's game time will come into question this season.

    Great podcast guys!!

Im thinking of shipping Sanchez out and bringing Fabregas in.
Then spend 4 points to get rid of McCarty and bring in Siggurdson.

I think over the next two weeks it could pay off?

    My current team is

    De Gea MyHill
    Bruce Cahill Vlaar Lovren Debuchy
    Mata Sterling Fabregas Wanyama Sigurrdsson
    Rooney Diego Costa Bojan

    Thoughts?

Yeah it could be higher, they might see him going into a team who scored a lot of goals last year, and given that he would be projected to score a decent % of their total goals, they might price him accordingly...

I'd just like to have the opportunity to play him v Sunderland before he gets his first drop...

If he brings back a haul, then he'll start getting +NTI again...

If he blanks in that he'll drop for sure, probably 0.2m which might force me to do Mata > Sterling a week earlier...

Which isn't ideal now we have Balotelli's inclusion to deal with...

Fpl have really put the brakes on the price risers. Even Siggi is struggling to rise .3 in a week and fab has only gone up by .1 that being the case I'm less bothered about losing .1 on fabregas

I think, if Mata drop before the GW starts, then it is easier for him to drop to 8.8.

If he hold on to 9.0 before the next GW, then he will need a lot more NTI for price to drop 0.2 as we have seen with siggy's increase.

It seems the powers that be at the FPL have changed their pricing targets. Last year 40 000 seemed the mark for a price change. Now I think it 90 000. Does not bode well for early wild card users. I was forced to because all my defenders apart from Vlaar did not play.

Should I stick with this team or do some small changes?

    DDG
    Chambers\ Terry\ Hutton (Caulker\ Wisdom)
    Sterling\ Fabregas\ Ramsey\ Siggy (Marney)
    Rooney\ Costa\ Giroud

Giroud didn't start last match, but are likely to start vs Everton , right?
Chambers... i suppose he starts as well.
Hutton vs Caulker? I dont fancy qpr to keep a cleenie, but caulker could get a goal.

Any thoughs? Overall i think my midfield is ok, but need to get a better defence.

    Begovic
    Terry - Jones - Chambers
    Sigurdsson - Sterling - Ramsey - Young
    Sturridge - Costa - Rooney (C)

    Gilks - Moore - Baird - Marney - 1FT, 0.5M ITB

    A) Keep FT (2FT next week)
    B) Sturridge>Bony and Young>Fabregas (-4)
    C) Chambers>Hutton (Have 1.0M ITB)

Thinking of keeping my FT and seeing how things pan out...might dip in rank this week though. I'm concerned about Chambers, Young, Jones and Baird.
