Our Friday lunchtime regular returns again as we scour the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s 10.45am deadline. As mentioned in last week’s article, we’ll be offering a couple of picks per position this term, with an essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.
This weekend, PlayON has a £3,000 Guaranteed Pot on offer – you can enter three different teams into the game up to 10.45 on Saturday morning.
Goalkeeper – Julian Speroni
The Eagles stopper is favourably priced at just 7.4m for the home encounter with West Ham tomorrow afternoon. After a defiant display at Arsenal last weekend, it looks like Tony Pulis’ defensive mindset has made a real impact on the Crystal Palace players and they’ll be confident of keeping out a blunt Hammers attack that scored just 15 times on their travels last season. For just a little extra outlay, though, you could opt for Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois. The young Belgian looks to have won the race for the role of Jose Mourinho’s new number one and comes in at just 7.8m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List as the Blues prepare to welcome promoted Leicester to Stamford Bridge.
Defender – Jose Fonte
Southampton were somewhat unfortunate to concede two goals at Anfield last Sunday and Ronald Koeman’ side will be hoping home comforts can help them bounce back immediately. The Saints play host to West Brom this Saturday and while Nathaniel Clyne is perhaps the more popular pick after his strike against the Reds, the 7.4m-priced Jose Fonte carries a real goal threat and scored three times in the previous campaign. Again, our attentions turn to Chelsea here. Mourinho’s side are formidable at Stamford Bridge and both Gary Cahill and skipper John Terry come in at 9.4m apiece for the Leicester clash – the latter grabbed three goals in pre-season and looks the likeliest of the pair to offer value for money against The Foxes.
Midfielder – Gylfi Sigurdsson
The Icelandic international is on everyone’s radar at the moment after serving up a goal and assist in Swansea’s opening day win at Old Trafford. Not so much a ‘left-field’ pick but certainly a budget-friendly one, Sigurdsson comes in at a cut-price 8.3m ahead of a home clash against promoted Burnley – whilst there’s a possibility he could be shifted onto the right if Garry Monk rolls out a 4-4-2, the playmaker’s delivery and dead-ball ability makes his impossible to ignore. Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen also looks a tempting option at 8.9m. Rested from midweek Europa League duties, the Dane’s set-piece duties will be a key weapon for Mauricio Pochettino’s side as they welcome QPR to the Lane in Sunday afternoon
Forward – Emmanuel Adebayor
Like Eriksen, the Tottenham forward was also afforded the night off from midweek action and will be fully refreshed for the visit of former manager Harry Redknapp. Adebayor scored 11 times in just 20 Premier League starts for the north London outfit last term and, having edged ahead of Roberto Soldado for the lone forward role in a 4-2-3-1, also has spot-kick duties to boost his points potential – he sets you back just 10.9m for Sunday’s clash. Diego Costa looks difficult to avoid for tomorrow’s home clash with Leicester. Available for 11.4m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List, the summer signing netted on his debut at Burnley on Monday and, having scored 18 of his 27 league goals for Atletico Madrid in front of his own fans in 2013/14, clearly prefers home comforts.
Armed with the above picks, head on over to PlayON.co and get picking for the £3,000 Guaranteed Pot.

Do we think saving GW1 and 2's 5 transfers is a good tactic for UFPL? Then having up to 15 before the team gets locked in?
Or have a couple of punts each week and then use your remainder towards then end?
