This works because:
1) Won't be as much space in behind as there was with wing backs.
2) Mata still in the hole/no.10, also can rotate in a fluid 3 with Rooney and Di Maria
3) Di Maria and Rooney have the energy and commitment to get up and down the flank all day long, helping the defence and then having the pace to be able to turn defence into attack.
4) RVP is the focal point of the attack, he is Utd's best finisher.
The weakness in this 433 is there is no player in centre mid to win the ball back, break up play, tackle and shield the back four. The best 433's in recent years have had this, Essien/Makelele, Yaya/Busquets, Cambiasso/Zanetti, De Jong etc.Open Controls
