ENTRY HAS NOW CLOSED AND THE DRAW HAS BEEN MADE

On Wednesday night the doors were kicked open. After days of speculation, frustration and some unlikely conspiracies, the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) launched a new site, new rules and a new start to our Fantasy seasons.

The player list tinkering is now taking place in earnest as the ardent Fantasy Managers look to steal a march on the casual brigade. Leagues are already in place – sign-up’s underway.

The “classic” Fantasy Football Scout League is already available via this code (code: 490-626). Now, though it’s time to take on the behemoth that is now our ten (the impending Reserve League included) Head to Head leagues…

Those of you that were involved in our Head to Head leagues last year should, all being well, have already received the code to your new division for next season (if not, details follow later on how to rectify this – there are deadlines so don’t delay) not long after the game went live, so now it’s down to enticing new entrants.

Last year we ran seven (twenty man) Head to Head leagues. This season we are going to add another two onto the pile leaving us with nine of these in total as we continue to grow and grow – this opens up 38 more places (alongside 6 spaces already confirmed to be filled in Head to Head 7) for our community to snap up. If you want to try and squeeze into FFS H2H 8 (with Fantasy Football Scout business brain Chris, or “elfozzie” to you) or FFS H2H 9 (with myself, sorry folks!) be sure to follow the upcoming instructions…

Please email me at andy@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with the heading “FFS Head to Head: New Entry” with these very specific details as entry:

  1. Fantasy Football Scout User Name (nickname used to post comments with)
  2. Full name
  3. Link to your Fantasy Premier League team or ID number

Make sure you provide the correct link. This can be found by clicking ‘History’ under your kit on your team page. It should be of the form ‘http://fantasy.premierleague.com/entry/X/history/’ (where X is your unique 1 to 7 digit team ID number – for example, mine is 89). N.b. links are represented differently than in past years so don’t get caught out.

If you fail to provide all of these details or enter by the closing date below, then your entry will become invalid so make sure to check everything is correct.

Deadlines are going to be tighter this year, so you’ll need to be quick as entry for these closes just a couple of weeks away at midnight (GMT) on Friday July 29 – a week today. All valid entries will then be put into a (hypothetical) pot, with 44 drawn at random and assigned to a league based on their final ranking from last season.

If, by the time deadline for entry closes, there are also any unclaimed spots in the pre-determined seven Head to Head leagues above, then places will also be up for grabs and added into the mix for new applicants to potentially sneak their way in; a “golden ticket” up the newly formed league structure all the way to FFS H2H 1 could also be on the cards if you’re lucky and did well enough last season.

This is where the qualifiers for the aforementioned seven leagues get their instructions if they need them. If you haven’t yet received an email with your new league code then please get in touch with me using exactly the same instructions as for new applicants but header your email with “FFS Head to Head: League Code” instead, and ask for your code. All of those who qualified by finishing in the top 28 places in the Reserve League last year, for example, will need to email me as I don’t have any of your contact details on record – the onus is upon you to claim what is yours in the next week. Be fast to make sure you don’t miss out on what you earned last year.

Finally, for those already qualified, you’ll also need to make sure your team is registered under the same email as last season as I will be checking the 2010/11 scores to verify your entries.

The process of promotion and relegation from these leagues are perhaps best left to be show in image form one more time so as my garble doesn’t confuse anyone. If you have any queries then don’t hesitate to comment (I’ll do my best to respond quickly), email (be aware I expect to be inundated with these) or tweet (perhaps most likely for me to see) in my direction and I’ll do my best to get back to you. The picture representation once again is…

There you go – that’s more than enough to take in for now. Don’t forget to get your emails in before the H2H league deadline – next Friday.

'Bardsley on bench'? I think you need at least 4 decent quality defenders who will score you some points. Very risky to get 3 goodies and 2 bench fodder.

Here's a question: what's your price distribution tactics?

Spend on one starting team of big hitters which won't change much, with a few cheap (but playing) subs.

Or distribute your cash evenly throughout your team so you can rotate regularly depending on fixtures?

I like it, but will Walker play? Expensive to have a player at 5.5 that doesn't play. Although corluka/hutton should be benched after what Walker showed last year. Cahill has awful opening fixtures, but a good player if you care to stick him on your bench for a couple of weeks. Not sure about Suarez because of the Copa America....! And Odem plays at home to Manchester United and away to Chelsea the first two weeks....

Norwich back four will be Martin-Ward-Barnett-De Laet IMO. Out of those guys, Lambert really encourages the full backs to push up the park, so Martin and De Laet may get amongst the points. Look out for Ward from corners.

    Afternoon from Geneva,

CHELSEA... with Essien injured, who are their 4 Mids likely to be.?? tempted to have a Punt on kalou.. always looks dangerous when he comes on and is cheap.

Also is BOSINGWA a viable option? Will he get game time down the right?

    3. Who is better FPL wise, YAYA or SILVA... thinking theyre about evens, but YAYA is way cheaper... so may go for YAYA and KALOU,

    THoughts

Also having ROONEY AND SUAREZ for first 5+ GWs....

The current state and quality of posting is evidence if ever that the forums should be accessible to members only?

What a load of tosh NeedleVor sorry, but what you've just said is ridiculous. It's a forum for fantasy football. Of course people are going to post and discuss their opening team. Why do people have a problem with this!!!??

I'm minded to do some kind of VDV switch to malouda gw 1 to 2. VDV looks like a good captain choice for the first game and gives options to switch.

Malouda still has question marks around his role, with a feeling that villa boas sees him more as a mid than a forward on the wing. Lampard is just too expensive.

Player thoughts I've had since the prices.
VDV - Dear and poor fixtures BUT has a tendency to step up against the big teams, plus set pieces may mean he's worth it.
    K. Naughton - gone to Norwich on loan will come in at around 4 I would imagine, what effect will he have on their back four?
A Johnson - After Jol's comments could be an absoloute steal at 5.5.
Sunderland defense - Bardsley will stil be nailed on I assume? If so offers more going forward than O'shea will.
    Anybody care to comment?

Bardsley may not be nailed on, Brown can play right back and O Shea left back, seems strange to bring them both in from united and not play them, I'm guessing they left United for first team football.

Malouda seems to be a very popular pick. Its making me feeling like spending the extra money on Frank. Am I missing something guys? Frank - Penalties, some set pieces (know Drogba takes some) and nailed starter.
Malouda - Corners, more attacking postion especialy if Frank is sitting further back and not a nailed starter.

Do you think Cole, Kompany, Baines, Simpson, Wilkinson is just too much cash in defence?

Seems like the cheap midfielders have been massively priced hiked to the point where a 7.5 mid is going to score much less than a 7.5 defender.

You make a good point, looking at the prices the money should be spent in defence and attack, all those midfielders in the 5.5-7.5 won't score as much as the better defenders.

Instead of rotating defence I shall be rotating midfielders this year, have 2 regulars and rotate the other spots.

The majority of provisional teams will change vastly if in the final 2 or 3 days before the start of the season, one of Drogba or Torres gets ruled out for a couple of weeks, making the other a must have. Even more so if Torres is out and Drogba will be the one for the first 3 games.

Still doesn't stop your changing your team countless times, but the reality is that your squad will still be changing the night before the season.
