The ScoutCast – Episode 135 – Arrivals

With cheque books fluttering on the eve of the transfer window slamming shut, our Fantasy seasons could be transformed by some notable new arrivals. In this week’s ScoutCast episode, Granville and I chew over the latest fresh faces to crash the player list – United’s “Angel” Di Maria and Liverpool’s “Devil” Balotelli.

With just a single point between us and the comfort of top 100k placings, my co-host and I are more than just a little content as we the rule over the current bandwagons and preview another weekend’s action. It won’t last.

    What to do with Lovren? Is he a mistake? or worth keeping when the fixtures ease up after this week? and goal threat? or trade in for a cheapie (colo) and free up money for Aguero for a free?

      tough fix for lovren and looked average against 5secs aguero. would consider a move unless you have bigger problems

      I'm keeping. Always comes with a goal threat which will come - who knows when. Two bad scores should test your resolve for attackers, not defenders.

      Made my Lovren>Clyne switch last week Saturday. I felt then I made a mistake expecting attacking returns from him so early on in the season, The LIV defense is also integrating some new players [Lovren himself is one] so there's some growing pains---I might come back for him when LIV have a run of favorable fixtures but Lovren is very much a failed 'early-season' punt for me.

        Many new players at LFC, so the team will take time to gel.
        Defence not a priority, and looks a bit dis-organised.

    I'll try this again but with a slight variation

    Azpi and Aguero

    Or

    Ivanovic and Costa

    Repost, stuck on last page

    I'm in a dilemma. Help guys?

    I'm planning to make 3 transfers over the following 2 weeks (GW3 and GW4), but I'm unsure about the pattern in which I make the transfers.

    1:

    GW3 - Eriksen --> Sterling & Luis --> Clyne (-4)
    GW4: Dzeko ---> Adebayor

    2:

    GW3: Save FT and risk the price rises and falls
    GW4: Eriksen ---> Sterling, Luis ---> Clyne & Dzeko ---> Adebayor (-4)

    Any advice would be appreciated.

        How many FPL points would that give him including BPs etc? Approx?

          (2x36)+(3x14)+(3x5)+(14-ish)+BPs

          So probably about 160pts.

    I have made a spreadsheet that analyses players and helps you identify which are the best players to pick regarding form and value for money. It also shows you all scorers and assisters and what team they done it against. In addition it has all the results to date and all goals conceded.

    It is totally upto date and I will try my best to keep it that way throughout the season.

    Please feel free to use my spreadsheet and provide feedback or suggestions on how it could be improved or any errors you may find. I am also happy to answer any questions if you are unsure of something.

    You can access it here: https://www.zoho.com/docs/login.html

    ======================================
    The tabs that will be of interest are:

    GK Calculations, Defender Calculations, Midfielder Calculations, Forward Calculations, Goals Assists, Conceded, My Team [monitors your team each week] & Results

    ======================================

    In the GK calculations, Defender Calculations, Midfielder Calculations & Forward calculations you will see a table with all the players.

    The columns in the table are:

    1. PPG = Points Per Game - Shows the average points a player gets each game.
    2. PPM = Points Per Million - Shows how many points a player gets for each million pound you spend - allows you to see who is good value for money and compare to other players
    3. PPMPG = Points Per Million Per Game - Shows how many points a player scores each game for each million pound you spend. - I feel this is a better indicator of who is best value for money.
    4. Points 4 Weeks = Points scored over last 4 game weeks - this helps you identify the most inform players over the last 4 weeks
    5. Performance Indicator = Shows if a player is below the average key performance indicator (low), above average but below high key performance indicator (average) and above high key performance indicator (high)

    ==================================================================
    You use these tables to help identify a pool of good players to pick from and then you check the fixtures to see who to pick. You can also use these tables to see if your current players are performing well and if not you should ship them out. Ideally you want to have a full team of people who have high performance and good fixtures.

    Thanks

        1) If Costa is out...

        Yes, QPR have home advantage but Poyet &the SUN squad must be on a high after not losing to United and ending that game the better team.

          It is a difficult one... when in doubt with defenders I do usually pick the one playing at home especially if they're a centre back, I may switch but I just fancy a QPR cleansheet in this one!

        Stephen Quinn! there's a blast form the past. remember the 06/07 season when he was on fire -most of those 2 golas and 4 assists came in a short space of time and his price rocketed. not sure what happened since. maybe he's been taking sleeping agent to the extreme...

        Now then. Match report from tonight's match.

        - Hull came out wearing what I can only assume is their 'European Home Kit'. Amber shorts, black and amber striped shirt with a large amber patch on the back where the name and number goes, reminiscent of a Newcastle shirt from the late 90s/early 00s. Out of Europe now, so I doubt we'll ever see it again.

        - I've argued during pre-season that Robbie Brady is Hull's main penalty taker and not many people believed me. Despite Jelavic and Huddlestone not being on the pitch at the time of Hull's penalty, it was taken by none other than Robbie Brady, so middle finger to all the haters.

        - Questionable straight red for Sagbo. Was it even a (second) yellow? It didn't look like it. Still, not too many gripes about the referee. Since the sending off, the game turned really dirty. Lokeren started wasting time massively. A couple of players were booked for it.

        - Ince lacked pace when he came on and failed to make a difference. Huddlestone's heart was in it. Not convinced that Livermore was worth the money. Defence looked shaky, missed tackles and gave away the ball cheaply (even Curtis Davies), but McGregor is one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League (despite his gaff in the first leg).

        - Dawson came on the pitch at half time and gave a little talk to the fans, he's happy to have signed, blah blah blah. The squad is looking really deep and I'm convinced they'll avoid relegation. I mentioned on Sunday that I think Robertson will be an absolute superstar. Although I'm gutted that they're out of Europe (wouldn't have minded a long weekend away in Germany/Portugal/wherever), it's probably for the best domestically.

        - We need a striker. Is Abel Hernandez any good? Hope you can tell me.

            "Doesn't"? After 2 matches can you really say that? He's started three of the four Europa League matches, and still working his way back after a long injury. He's good enough to nail down a regular first team spot.

            Started with 4-4-2 with Chester and Davies, went to 5-2-2 or 5-3-1 after the red card.

            I'd imagine with Robertson and now Dawson, the defence will look like:

            Robertson - Dawson - Davies - Chester - Elmo/Rosenior

          Chester still nailed on despite Dawson? If they reverted to a 4 back, who would be dropped?

            I think they'll mainly play 5-3-2.

            Robertson - Dawson - Davies - Chester - Elmo/Rosenior

            I don't know who would be dropped if they played 4-4-2, which is probably likely from time to time. Davies is the captain, so either Chester or Dawson I guess.

                I highly doubt it.

                He'll still be a regular starter.

          of course it would be odd if there were GW2 starters beating me at this stage

          Either they did spectacularly well, or I'm doing incredibly badly

            You don't as such but if your OR is higher than your rank in GW1 starters then you know people who started after GW1 are beating you
