With Gameweek 3 up next, we asses our options in the Sky Sports game by bringing you the usual info – Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries and the current market trends – before taking a look at the Scout team and our plans for the week ahead.

Gameweek 2 Man of the Match Awards

Here are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures, achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Aston Villa vs NewcastleAlan Hutton
Chelsea vs LeicesterEden Hazard
Crystal Palace vs West HamStewart Downing
Southampton vs West BromYoussouf Mulumbu
Swansea vs BurnleyJordi Amat
Everton vs ArsenalOlivier Giroud
Hull vs StokeNikica Jelavic
Tottenham vs QPRErik Lamela
Sunderland vs Man UnitedLee Cattermole
Man City vs LiverpoolStevan Jovetic

Two defenders, five midfielders and three forwards picked up the awards last weekend. Budget defenders Jordi Amat (4.7) and Alan Hutton (3.8) staked a claim for consideration, with perhaps Hutton the better option due to his security of starts and a cheaper price. Mid-price Argentine Erik Lamela (6.9) looks one to keep an eye on after picking up two assists – fielded behind the forward in a fluid system installed by Mauricio Pochettino, he really caught the eye and looks a great option with only 7% ownership.

Gameweek 2 Bonus Points

Only two goalkeepers achieved bonus points from collecting five or more saves. Julian Speroni and Kasper Schmeichel were the pair in question, with Schmeichel churning out the most saves in the Gameweek with eight – the Leicester keeper is likely to keep a high save rate and offer a good chance for MoTM. If you’re considering a keeper change already then the Dane looks good value at 4.3m.

In defence, 12 players grabbed bonus – seven for tackles and five for passes completed. Spanish full-back Cesar Azpilicueta came closest to achieving both, missing out by 11 completed passes.

In midfield there were 17 beneficiaries in total – nine for tackling and ten for passes. Central midfielders Dean Marney and Morgan Scheiderlin were the two to pick up bonus for both – Scheiderlin picked up 46 points in bonus last season and looks set to replicate that total once again.

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

Top Transfers Out

NameTeamValue% of Managers
RooneyMan Utd9.42.57%
SanchezArsenal6.52.26%
GiroudArsenal8.92.25%
DzekoMan City9.52.09%
HowardEverton5.41.72%

Sky Sports Fantasy managers have been quick to restructure their front lines this week, with four of the top most most transferred out players plying their trade up front. Alexis Sanchez looks set to benefit as Arsenal’s lone forward as a result of Olivier Giroud’s lengthy injury absence, though, and those who parted company with the Chilean could quickly regret their decision.

Top Transfers In

NameTeamValue% of Managers
DierTottenham6.43.77%
HuttonAston Villa3.83.70%
JoveticMan City7.93.56%
CostaChelsea9.53.00%
KaboulTottenham5.22.94%

Back-to-back clean sheets bring Tottenham pair Eric Dier and Younes Kaboul onto Fantasy radars, with the former’s pair of goals making him the most sought-after player in the Gameweek. Hutton’s 3.8 price tag, allied with two clean sheets and a MoTM display, has afforded the Villa right-back a place in many new teams. Stevan Jovetic’s brace against Liverpool makes the 7.9-priced City forward an obvious target for the visit of Stoke, whilst Costa’s new owners are sweating over his fitness after Jose Mourinho confirmed he is a “big doubt” heading into the trip to Goodison.

My Team

Fabianski
Moore Hutton Van Aanholt
Silva (c) Hazard Toure Ramsey Mutch
Rooney Costa

ITB: 0.4
Transfers remaining 38/40
Last week’s points: 80
Overall points: 160
Rank: 2,550

Notes
I’ve picked up 80 points two weeks on the trot and a reasonable rank to go with it. This is thanks, in part, to Alan Hutton and Eden Hazard’s MoTM displays both netting me 12 points – also a last minute change of heart meant after my captain Diego Costa banged in a goal, I switched the armband to Juan Mata rather than Wayne Rooney and the Spaniard also came up trumps. I then swapped out Mata for David Silva who unfortunately failed to return any points but hopefully sets me up nicely for the weekend, as detailed below.

The main concerns with my team currently are Yaya Toure and Jordan Mutch who are yet to contribute anything of note. Again, I’m going to hang fire for now and hope they repay the faith with Cesc Fabregas, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Raheem Sterling, Siem de Jong and Erik Lamela are winking provocatively at me.

Captain plan
David Silva is my captain for his match at home to Stoke and I will then switch the armband to either Aaron Ramsey or Raheem Sterling on Sunday. Of course, if I go with Sterling I’ll have to transfer him in for Silva after City’s clash with the Potters on Saturday.

It’s worth noting that even though the upcoming Gameweek is a fixture-less one, we can still use our allocated captain swap for free if need be, setting up up nicely when the domestic action resumes in a fortnight’s time.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and were hoping to top the Private League rankings as per usual. With a £1,000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday, The Fantasy Football Club show with Fenners and Merse gets underway at 18:30 on Sky Sports One HD. The duo will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, quizzing former England forward Les Ferdinand, and also asking the uncompromising Terry Butcher for his #One2Eleven.

I'm keeping for the reasons below:

      1. His fixtures are great.
      2. Keepers don't get bonuses. Keep that FT for more important transfers especially after the international break when injuries mount.

E.g. What's a realistic scenario? Man city wins 3-0, Begovic gets 3 saves, that's 2 points. Even if you change to Krul, he will probably get 6 points for a clean sheet.

I would rather keep that FT and make attacking transfers next week/required transfers due to injuries.

If you had changed to Krul, and it so happens that you have to take a -4 point hit to rectify injuries, you would be back to square one anyway.

and of course clean sheets are unpredictable. Who knows, Krul might not even keep a clean sheet this week. So I would rather save my FT for transfers with higher potential returns.

How nailed on is Dummett? Who's position is he currently occupying?

Considering getting him in for Kelly, don't rate Warnock as a boss.

I think Pardew is waiting for him to have a bad game to use Haidara instead. Haidara would have been first choice had he not been injured..

Sorry for the almost re-post but wanted to provide some more information:

I'm wildcarding (already played), and have Aguero, Jovetic, Rose and Bertrand.

    A) Rooney + 4.5m mid + Wisdom

    B) Naismith + Mata + PvA (also money to upgrade Jovetic to Adebayor).

    Thoughts?

      B. I wouldn't recommend any 4.5m midfielder for the long road. You do need a bench that will score, esp as the season moves on

Not Cabella. Rather Siggy + cash to upgrade the defence over the next few weeks. 6.4 may seem like you're being robbed since he was available at 6 but he is almost guaranteed to outscore Cabella who is more expensive.

Ok I just thought of something...

I have krul and Elliott as my gks and obviously krul is first choice. But I was thinking if I'd be better off starting with Elliot every week? Chances are he won't play and I'll get Kruls points anyway. There's only two circumstances in which he would come off the bench for Newcastle - an Injury to krul or a red card.

The pros of starting with Elliot being if krul DID get sent off then I wouldn't take a hit for the red card and suddenly i could well have a chance for my gk to earn penalty save points.

The drawback being krul getting injured after playing 60 mins with no goals conceded and Me missing out on the clean sheet points. But if he were to get injured, then the chances of him being injured BEFORE 60 mins of a 90 match are 67% and only 33% chance of it being after 60 mins.

Surely everybody in my situation should start Elliot over krul??

    Thoughts?

        This.

Your injury chances dont take into account how injuries are more likely the longer activity is undertaken in one go. Minor point irrelevant to your logic.

I personally like 2 playing keepers but if thats the way you play thats definitely the way to play, especially as Newcastle play quite a high line on occasions and Krul has a small possibility of getting sent off!

      No no no

A red card for a keeper happens maybe once in three seasons or more.

McGregor (while he was sent off once, he was injured), Boruc, Foster, Westwood.

What's your point though? If he's injured before 30 minutes (which McGregor was, and there's a 1 in 3 chance they will be), there's a chance of a clean sheet for sub goalie.

    Before WC:

    Begovic-Krul
    Jones-Shawcross-PvA-Moore-Clyne
    Mata-Lamela-Ramsey-Henderson-Siggy
    Rooney-Costa-Jelavic
Made 3 transfer this week so got a -4 points

    After WC:

    Mannone-Krul
    Rose-Clyne-Wisdom-PvA-Janmaat
    Lamela-Fabregas-Silva-Siggy-Ramsey
    Aguero-Adebayor- Naismith
0,5 mil in the bank which I could do Rose + Janmaat to Verthongen + Colo with.

Should I Wc? It would give me 4 points back but it feels pretty bad to WC this early. The "after wc" team should give me some more money since Aguero, Adebayor, Naismith, Silva, Fabregas and Wisdom should increase in price.

For those with Begovic, I think its a good week to gamble -4 on Krul

Your unlikely to lose much by it and in the long run be better off

Why do you think you would be better off with him?

It is NEVER a good week to take a hit on a keeper.

And then their replacement for Balotelli is a striker who hasnt performed for years. Strange, strange move.

At the very least they have made a bid. Seems like they are buying a name, instead of a player.

"He has to try a light training session to see if the reaction is positive. If it is we take him to Everton to play or be on the bench; if the reaction is not positive today then obviously we don’t select him. Let's see"

    Advise for this team?

    Krul
    Terry, Lovren, Caulker, Cylne, Taylor
    Fab, Ramsey, Mata, Siggy
    Rooney, Costa
    Mannone, Young, Lovren, Bent

2 free transfer, Bent and Young to go at some point, nothing in the bank, Lost out money on Bent and Young, not the best at remembering to keep an eye out for price changes 🙂 Neither in my starting 11 anyway so probably will only lose one of them this week.
