Aston Villa have this afternoon confirmed the club have reached an agreement with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of Charles N’Zogbia.

In a brief statement released through their official site, the club have also added:

We will now discuss personal terms with the player and arrange a medical, with a view to completing the transfer later this week.

As mentioned in our N’Zogbia article earlier today, this move will be of significant interest to Fantasy managers.

Villa have the kindest run of opening fixtures this upcoming season, with their first seven games reading (ful, BLA, WOL, eve, NEW, qpr, WIG) and their players will be subject to plenty Fantasy investment as a result.

Having lost the services of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing this summer, Alex McLeish has added to strengthen his depleted options on the wings and if his formation in Villa’s previous game with Walsall is anything to go by, a 4-2-3-1 may be the favoured shape next term.

At present, this could well see N’Zogbia on the left and Marc Alrighton our right- the move does not necessarily diminish Albrighton’s likely number of starts, though priced at 7.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), N’Zogbia is a proven Fantasy favourite and looks good to take advantage of those opening Villa matches.

For Wigan, this also looks like propelling Victor Moses into Fantasy manager’s thoughts. Roberto Martinez’s side play the three promoted sides in their first three matches (NOR, swa, QPR) and Moses, priced at just 5.0, looks the likely beneficiary for the Latics. Moses’ price certainly reflects the limited game time he’s racked up since moving from Crystal Palace but that opening trio of games could see him sneak under many radars- providing Martinez affords him the platform to prove himself.

A Great Expectations article on N’Zogbia and Moses will follow shortly.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Fat Frank. Yay or nay?

I'm probably going to take a punt and hail mary on him. Covers Chelsea offense and easier to downgrade to another player if it does not work out...then to upgrade to him later on if he does shine.

    Hi Fuzzywarbles,

Just had a look at your post regarding the two teams with/without Baines and I have to say I am in a similar boat to you.

    Here is my team:

    Kenny (Given)
    Orr, Baines, Kompany (Simpson, Wilkinson)
VDV, Lampard, Taarbart, Sinclair (S Ferguson)
    Odemwingie, Ba, Van Persie

The disadvantage of this team is that I have a weak bench. For example, Shane Ferguson will probably not even play but due to finances I had to get him as I only had 4m left which is what he cost. Saying that I could just get over the problem with transfers?

I am really worried about Lampard too. Still unsure whether to keep him or to draft him out for a 9m or less midfielder (Dempsey perhaps), then upgrade S Ferguson to Moses and one of the keepers to Hart.

I like your idea of having Neil Taylor. Just had a look at him on Wikipedia and apparently he plays in defence and the left side of MIDFIELD. Could possibly be this year’s Coleman?

Also will Wilkinson be a guaranteed starter?

Anyone else having a similar issue?

Lower Ba or Odemwingie to Holt and take the extra cash and upgrade Ferguson to atleast Tiota because he will atleast see the pitch and then take the remaining .5 and upgrade Wilkinson or you could leave Wilkinson and upgrade Ferguson to Moses.

I'd hold fire on Rafael until that situation clears up on who is starting.

      K. Davies has some shoite fixtures to start off with.

Lack of funds for a Van Persie or Rooney latter on could be hard to compensate for latter on. Having the option to switch between big strikers is huge imo.

I wonder if the opta stats could determine who was statistically the best player per game per team last season focusing on consistency with the view to get the top 20 players in the perm likely to score the most bonus.
As an example but numbers picked out of the air

    Chelsea

Gw1 malouda 3 points, cole 2 points lamps 1 point
    Gw2 lamps 3 cole 2 malouda 1
    Gw3.........
    Gw4...........

Then at the end you have 5 or 6 players listed like

    Lampard 60
    Drogs 58
    Cole 51
    Malouda 50

Do this for each team put them all together give them a shake and order by points

You then have the next 10-20 bonus point darlings for the new points system

I'm sure kompany wouldl be in top 5 etc......

Now I ain't going to be doing this, it's a big ask. But there's some good analysts out there who would just laugh, say it's easy, type a few of lines in a spreadsheet and boom we've got it cracked

Why does everyone seem to think that Arteta is the main penalty taker at Everton?

Moyes confirmed last season that Baines was nowthe first choice pen taker. I wish people would stop posting advice to the contrary. Baines even took pens with Arteta in the team!

And Arteta has taken pens when Baines was in, I believe.

New season, as well. I agree that Baines looks the favorite now, but it's not bad advice to suggest to people that Baines might have competition for the PKs this season.

Tried repost on last page so this is one last try in case anyone is interested: A rival spreadsheet… https://skydrive.live.com/view.aspx?cid=FED82C47DF92A73D&resid=FED82C47DF92A73D%21131
Not even entirely sure it will work but hope that the attached is useful. When opened scroll left to the instructions tab. This is currently very brief but hopefully you will find some of the information helpful, particularly the analysis of points per pound per match played which should add an extra dimension to last year’s figures. I have also added two different levels of analysis – attack and defence which I consider very separate. Be warned my history in fpl is not the best!! I plan to update the spreadsheet in the next week or so – any feedback please send it my way via email. Be warned this could be a massive fail.

Chelsea's starting XI looks a difficult one to call. You could downgrade Baines to Lescott, and this would give you the funds to get Cole. If you then were to downgrade Nzogs to Ireland, you could get Lamps as well. Not ideal, but so far it looks like Malouda may get rotated, and Cole has to be a safer bet than Luiz.

You'll have enough funds as well to swap Moses for Dorrans in GW4.

Very very similar to my current team. My only worry about not having RVP from the start is that he gets off to flyer and his price goes up, making it hard to afford.

He could actually lose value if he gets between 2 and 5 points v Newcastle. I could see him being shipped out en masse before city and united.

Your way ahead of me Cheggers, i was just going to ask where were you going to come up with the 1.5 needed.

I know this is a debate that will go on but i wonder if Baines is worth the 8M.. some will say he is for sure, but i have my doubts, Arteta should still be on Pens and FK's when fit no? and Everton always get off to a slow start.. if your badly stuck for the 1.5 then you could do Baines to Jagielka/someone else 5.5 or less..just a thaught

Timed my last post poorly, right at the end of a page - took into account the one tip I got, so what do people make of this?

    Given, Al Habsi
    Samba, Cahill, Hangeland, Enrique, Kompany
    Silva, Downing, N'Zogbia, Taarabt, Moses
    Suarez, Hernandez, Holt

People say you shouldn't put Suarez and Downing together, can someone explain why? The way I see it, both provide an attacking threat - Downing will get assists for Carroll and a few goals of his own, while Suarez makes chances for himself and others. By having both on the team, you cover both eventualities!

    Thoughts, appreciated, thanks!

You realize Hernandez might start late or rotate now-and-again with Berbs, yeah?

Seems like you have a really strong (meaning, no 4.0) back line. Will you be playing 4/5 defs each week? Might wanna think about some bench fodder for 4.0/4.5 and using the cash elsewhere to upgrade.

Have considered the Hernandez thing, but based on last seasons form, I think he'll start most games. As for the defence, I had Simpson rather than Cahill but had an extra 1.5m so thought I'd go for the class, rotate-able defence. Where else would you recommend I upgrade instead? Thanks for the feedback.

It seems to me you're a bit short on Captain choices: Suarez, who's still a bit of a doubt; and Silva/Downing = meh.

Perhaps either an upgrade in one of your forwards (Javier to Rooney, for example), middies, or upgrading Cahill to a City defender (Cahill has City, 'Pool, & United weeks 2, 3, 4).

Fulham were 4th for clean sheets last season (i think), will be encouraged to get forward with Martin Jol at the helm, plus has a legendary left boot.

Mids will all be arcitects for their teams, therefore hopefully bonus points.

I agree with Suarez, will have to see if he's gonna play closer to the time.
