Aston Villa have this afternoon confirmed the club have reached an agreement with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of Charles N’Zogbia.

In a brief statement released through their official site, the club have also added:

We will now discuss personal terms with the player and arrange a medical, with a view to completing the transfer later this week.

As mentioned in our N’Zogbia article earlier today, this move will be of significant interest to Fantasy managers.

Villa have the kindest run of opening fixtures this upcoming season, with their first seven games reading (ful, BLA, WOL, eve, NEW, qpr, WIG) and their players will be subject to plenty Fantasy investment as a result.

Having lost the services of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing this summer, Alex McLeish has added to strengthen his depleted options on the wings and if his formation in Villa’s previous game with Walsall is anything to go by, a 4-2-3-1 may be the favoured shape next term.

At present, this could well see N’Zogbia on the left and Marc Alrighton our right- the move does not necessarily diminish Albrighton’s likely number of starts, though priced at 7.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), N’Zogbia is a proven Fantasy favourite and looks good to take advantage of those opening Villa matches.

For Wigan, this also looks like propelling Victor Moses into Fantasy manager’s thoughts. Roberto Martinez’s side play the three promoted sides in their first three matches (NOR, swa, QPR) and Moses, priced at just 5.0, looks the likely beneficiary for the Latics. Moses’ price certainly reflects the limited game time he’s racked up since moving from Crystal Palace but that opening trio of games could see him sneak under many radars- providing Martinez affords him the platform to prove himself.

A Great Expectations article on N’Zogbia and Moses will follow shortly.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    Hi All

    Quick advice,

    A) Lamps and Zamora
    Or.......
    B) Dempsey and RVP

Thinking A but RVP was awesome for me last year but his opening fixtures aren't that great and I would ideally like Chelsea and Fulham coverage for first few gameweeks

    Cheers

All these people loving up the promoted players need to relax a wee bit. Early on, you gotta be in the race still, and tried and tested prem players are needed. Just tell bloody wenger!!! I have gambled on taarabt, but too many of them and I just feel nervous.

I think he'll start well. Age will get the better of him in the back end. Plus I think he's now a home team player, less effective away from home. But, in fairness, what a player he's been for my team over the last few years.

you need at least one top tier striker up top, more pts. to be gained than in defence as clean sheets seem to be a rarity nowadays. way too much invested in the back for my liking.

defence to strong you only need at max to expensive ones and other 3 can rotate
midfield not strong enough thats where points are most scored so more money should put be put into that than defence

Team taking shape. Would love some feedback please! namely is there enough quality up front? Is gervinho a dud as a striker points wise?

    Robinson / De Vries
    W Brown / A Cole / Baines / Kompany / Simpson
Y Toure / Downing / Taarabat / N'Zog / B Afra (think if he stays fit he could come good)
Gervinho / Carroll (change to surarez) / N'gog (assuming he goes to bolton, otherwise Ba).

    Logic...
DEF - 3 solid defenders who should do well no matter the opposition, W brown a good back up
MID - Decent Midfield potential (assuming Afra get play games)
FWD - Reckon suarez and Gervinho will be ace this year. Can see N'gog doing well at bolton if he goes, otherwise I think Ba will do well this year.

Not to over complicate things but when looking to have a player in your squad, doesnt it make sense to look at the whole team including the manager?

Take Man City for example. Look at Balotelli, whether he was right or wrong for being a showboat, you can see the frustration between Aquilani and his players. Aquilani himself doesnt seem to even want to be there. Tevez is taking off and with there constant change of players being brought in and out, it will take a longer amount of time for them to gel together than a team like Man U, especially on the backend.

Basically, I guess all I'm saying is that a happy manager with happy players has got to count for something.

People love to overlook patently obvious considerations such as these. I have seen the generic RMT template develop on here for the last week or so and theres quite a few on it who wouldnt make the grade when you take your point on board.

True, but theres always the exception that proves the rule.

          Torres was turd last year.
          Rooney was turd last year.
          Fabregas was turd last year.

I could go on but what was the common denominator, they were unhappy at their clubs at some point or had seasons disrupted by unrest in the camp.

Afterall it's the quality that matters most to the manager. I was just wondering whether he was more valued than Dzeko really

Good team but Suarez won't start the season.

I would prefer a crumpet if you would be so kind.

Of course Suarez will start - he has three weeks to acclimatise before the season. He will be more match-fit than most of the others and hit the ground running.

I like this team actually. If only you had a big gun up top it would make you feel better. That's my logic - all on rvp. I just don''t trust bent alone. I like suarez though and newcastle is always a good shout for a third striker I think. Now where's my scone

Ba will in fact score many points young man!

One suspects you're either the West Ham fan who's autograph request was refused. . . or a Sunderland fan?

You're letting prejudice cloud your judgement so far this reason you won't be getting a scone!

Watson plays so deep, I think that's why Moses is more sought after. Neither are proven in the Premier League and both could be busts.

Every year in FFL there seems to be a different winning formula. For a few years it was to load up on the attacking midfielders and set-piece merchants.(think gerrard, lampard, ronaldo) Last year it was all about the big strikers (drogba, RVP, Tevez et al) This year, given the high prices of every player who's even half decent I am predicting the rise of the permabench strategy. 2 or maybe 3 of the cheapest players out there who never play but free up funds for a tidy starting 11 who you hope play every week.

I'm afraid fate will have other plans for that kind of strategy. Sometime around late october you're bound to have 3-4 starters who are 50/50 or on a short suspension or potentially rested for champions league, and you'll want to be able to dip into the bench with some sense of hope. You may effectively have a "permabench" for a few weeks in a row, but they need to be players you can call on too.
