With the first international break of the season already underway, we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Laurent Koscielny was withdrawn midway through the first-half of yesterday’s trip to Leicester after sustaining a head injury. Arsene Wenger reckons the Frenchman “should be alright” in a week, while the Gunners boss also revealed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (calf) and Mesut Ozil (ankle) picked up problems in the 1-1 stalemate.

Aston Villa
Skipper Ron Vlaar was subbed off due to a calf complaint in Villa’s win over Hull, Paul Lambert has confirmed.

Chelsea
Oscar was unavailable for the Blues’ trip to Everton in Saturday evening after being ruled out with an ankle problem. Eden Hazard has since pulled out of the Belgium squad with a “small injury”.

Crystal Palace
Marouane Chamakh is set to be sidelined for a month with the hamstring problem picked up during the weekend draw at Newcastle. Fellow forward Dwight Gayle was also withdrawn at St James’ Park after sustaining an ankle knock but is expected to be fit in time for Gameweek 4.

Everton
Similar to Chelsea’s Hazard, Romelu Lukaku has also withdrawn from international duties for Belgium due to a small injury.

Man City
Summer signing Fernando was subbed off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke with a groin problem, Manuel Pellegrini admitted post-match.

Man United
Initial reports suggested Juan Mata was replaced with three minutes remaining of United’s draw at Burnley with a hamstring problem. Louis van Gaal has since stated the Spaniard was withdrawn due to cramp. The Red Devils’ boss also confirmed Angel di Maria was subbed off as a precautionary measure after sustaining a knock on his calf.

Newcastle
Newcastle right-back Daryl Janmaat was withdrawn with just three minutes left of Saturday’s clash against Palace after picking up a knock.

Stoke
Peter Odemwingie was forced off with a knee problem just 20 minutes after appearing off the bench in the Potters’ win at City.

Tottenham
Danny Rose was withdrawn midway through the second-half of yesterday’s home loss to Liverpool with a leg problem.

Played FPL for years but never understood price rises/transfers. I have a few like this but, just for an example, I can sell Costa for 10.5 but to buy him he's 10.6, same with Dyer who's 5.5 to sell but 5.6 to buy. Can anyone explain why I don't get market value for a player when I sell them?

    1. Ohhhhh Gary Macca!
      • 11 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

They have to have an increase of 0.2 for you to make profit

    2. JWF
      • 16 Years
      11 years, 3 months ago

You only receive half of the profit. So if you paid 10m for a player who has then risen to 10.2m you only get 10.1m when you sell. It's rounded down top so you only get 0.2m of a 0.5m rise.

FPL claims half the profit when you sell a player for a profit.

          Your point being...?

Whether or not Liverpool finish ahead of Utd again this season is irrelevant. Utd are far more adept at signing better players whom will inevitably make our team better than yours.

My point is that the idea that 'Utd won't win anything for 10 years' is completely redundant because we evidently have the cash and attraction to sign world class players capable of winning us trophies again.

Spurs following Arsenal's lead and failing to sign the players they need. 6th place this year me thinks.

No bloody chance. It turns out the only thing more important to Levy than his ego is his wallet. He used to love transfer deadline day as a way of boosting his own profile and popularity but now it's all about keeping net spend to an absolute minimum. Guessing this might be the lead up to the new stadium and we'll have a fair few years of under-investment.

Indeed, it would appear to be stadium related. I am not sure it is Levy though, he is just doing Uncle Joe's bidding.

Still I reckon there will be one more signing before the window closes. Still hopeful on Jay Rodriguez.

Maybe Man Utd will pull out of the Welbeck deal right at the last hour of the transfer window leaving Arsenal no time to sign a striker

Scholes said Blind wasn't good enough for United.

              What would he know?

                Scholes is a sell-out.

He needs to keep his mouth shut.
