Aston Villa have this afternoon confirmed the club have reached an agreement with Wigan Athletic for the transfer of Charles N’Zogbia.

In a brief statement released through their official site, the club have also added:

We will now discuss personal terms with the player and arrange a medical, with a view to completing the transfer later this week.

As mentioned in our N’Zogbia article earlier today, this move will be of significant interest to Fantasy managers.

Villa have the kindest run of opening fixtures this upcoming season, with their first seven games reading (ful, BLA, WOL, eve, NEW, qpr, WIG) and their players will be subject to plenty Fantasy investment as a result.

Having lost the services of Ashley Young and Stewart Downing this summer, Alex McLeish has added to strengthen his depleted options on the wings and if his formation in Villa’s previous game with Walsall is anything to go by, a 4-2-3-1 may be the favoured shape next term.

At present, this could well see N’Zogbia on the left and Marc Alrighton our right- the move does not necessarily diminish Albrighton’s likely number of starts, though priced at 7.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), N’Zogbia is a proven Fantasy favourite and looks good to take advantage of those opening Villa matches.

For Wigan, this also looks like propelling Victor Moses into Fantasy manager’s thoughts. Roberto Martinez’s side play the three promoted sides in their first three matches (NOR, swa, QPR) and Moses, priced at just 5.0, looks the likely beneficiary for the Latics. Moses’ price certainly reflects the limited game time he’s racked up since moving from Crystal Palace but that opening trio of games could see him sneak under many radars- providing Martinez affords him the platform to prove himself.

A Great Expectations article on N’Zogbia and Moses will follow shortly.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Forwards look super if drogs plays.
Midfield looks ok, not sure on moses but if he starts every game he is a good bench warmer i suppose
Not liking the defence dude, Too many 4.0's- I think u need a couple of safer options...e.g Johnson, Hughes etc

Lescott is he first choice? Wouldn't Captain Kompany be better?

Besides the MC defender... little weak... Fulham, Wolves, Blackburn, Wigan and Villa - all have reasonable priced defenders with good fixtures

I personally think Drogba is too much of a rotation risk to spend 10.5m on him... I'd prefer Zamora 7m... £3.5m on Improving Defence/Midfield...

For me only certains for Chelsea are: Cech, Terry, Cole, and Lampard... (with their start you need one of those)

Does it make sense to downgrade on Chelsea defence (Luiz) to Fulham's Hughes to upgrade Malouda to Lamps?

And could you guys jog my thoughts on well rotating 4.0 DEFs?

Simpson Wilkinson for me as 4.0 defs.

I think both your changes make sense, although are you sure you couldnt spend that Lamps money elsewhere? Other MFs look decent value.

Nice team. I like that you have got lamps and silva in.
Cole and Kompany both solid at back. I have holt too, im hoping he does a Carroll and rips the league up...he is on pens too which is nice for your third striker

No Tevez in anyones team! Does everyone think he will leave? I can see him playing in the Swansea game (Surely best Capt choice) and perhaps beyond it, especially now Brazil transfer window has passed! I guess Community Shield will give us an indication!

Wouldn't get Rafael personally, too much of a rotation risk. Two very expensive Chelsea defenders, personally I've gone for two more affordable Man City ones.
Ferguson won't play unless Enrique leaves then he would be a negative OOP. So although cheap he is a waste of a midfield spot. Last season showed just how important a decent squad depth is.
Duff and Murphy? Really? I wouldn't, either or, not both.
            Not bad though. 🙂

Indeed, our best player last season for sure. Came on so much since he first joined, he has always gave 110% and ran after everything but last season he just became so much more complete with his forward runs, passing and he has developed into more a box-to-box midfielder than just a defensive midfielder.

Yeah I think we will be alright, especially if we can get Foster. Wigan will definitely struggle, I said they would stay up last year but can see them going down this year without N'Zogbia.

Blackburn I think will be around relegation and then will get a new manager and probably stay up, I can't see Kean lasting the whole season there tbh.

3 promoted sides are obviously going to struggle although I can see Swansea surprising a few, not totally convinced by QPR though and Norwich.

      Keepers I like...

Defence... 3/5 - not keen on Skrtel after GW1 and Wilkinson wont score you anything... Maybe downgrade Skrtel to a 5.5m defender (Samba) and upgrade Wilkinson to 4.5 defender (Wigan)

MF - I actually like alot... That said I would have Silva over VDV to start the season... (Spurs fixtures aren't great compared to City)

Bent and Carroll solid choices... I don't know much about Holt

      Luiz rotation risk

Toure - will he be as attacking as last year?

RVP - fixtures aren't great (Between him and Rooney is a coin flip/ Preference)

Defence is quite expensive - must play 4 at the back to justify those picks

Walcott - rotation risk (Plus v hot and cold player)

Moses - good choice for bench not sold on Johnson (Is there anyone of better value)

Nail on the head - chelsea cover is a must esp GW2 onwards!

I would take out Luiz 6.5m is alot for a risk.... Maybe down grade him and upgrade one of the others (Wilkinson would be my pick)

Lampard and VDV - impressive.... the rest are unknowns in prem... bit of a risk - hats off to you if it works

Suarez - resting risk in Gw 1-3

Would love an opinion on options for this:

      Given (Ruddy)
      Alcaraz Kompany Skrtel (Simpson Hughes)
      N'Zogbia Yaya Malouda Taarabt (Sinclair)
      Bent Carroll Holt

      CHANGE:
      Malouda to Lampard
      or
      Skrtel to Ashley Cole?

Lampard for me - more points potential over the course of games

I am not solid on Skrtel either - just personal opinion that Pools fixtures aren't as straight forward as other teams in 1st six games

I'm reading a lot of RVP fixtures not great style comments. I think we need a little perspective. Arsenal and RVP are essentially fixture proof. They can and he can score against anyone. Arguably Arsenal's horror shows last year were the easy home games and their best performances were away. They are set up to perform well away.

By all means carry on putting people off RVP...means his price will go up for those smart enough to have him in.

The only time to transfer RVP out is when he gets injured. If he's fit and you don't have him, be afraid, be very afraid.

No such thing as fixture proof. Players are more likely to score, and more likely to score big, against weaker opposition.

RvP did score against Liverpool, and assisted Ramsey's goal against United, but he scored a hat-trick against Wigan and got 2 goals and an assist against West Ham.

Expensive players are expensive because of their captain potential. I doubt anyone will be captaining RvP in the first 3 weeks.

RVP against newcastle away wouldn't be that bad a shout...there will be goals in that game.

I captained RVP as a default option for most of the last chunk of last season and he did me proud. I didn't even look at the opposition. He will score ...its just a question of how many and will there be assists as well.

If you score in 800 consecutive away games, that makes you fixture proof in my book. He might not get 15 points a game, but he should make it worthwhile having him in the team.

        As far as i'm concerned:

Pros: He'll be playing N'Zogbia's role which means plenty of creative freedom, and he's a pretty good finisher

Cons: I guess he's unproven really so far

I'd definitely take a punt on him as a 5th midfielder, as i've done myself.

Yeah I agree, especially with wigan's opening fixtures, it gives him a better opportunity than any to gain confidence while he goes at weaker defences.

Theo Walcott. 9 goals, 8 assists in 1691 minutes. He's scoring and assisting in pre season aswell. I don't know why he gets such a hard time, he is much more then 'all pace' He's a class finisher and his crossing has improved a lot.

wouldn't have thought so. if enrique stays the back 4 should be Enrique-S Taylor-Coloccini-Simpson. If Enrique does leave, Williamson would probably be ahead of R Taylor as well, and they'd probably line up a replacement in any case.

How come tons of people are going for 3 expensive defenders, typically Cole, Baines and Kompany? They'll probably rake the points in but it limits midfield and forward options big time

Anyway here's what i have please let me know your thoughts:

      Hart (Ruddy)
      Cole-Kompany-Alcaraz (O Shea Simpson)
      Dempsey-Sessegnon-Taraabt-Zog (Tiote)
      Rooney-Bent-Ba
