With the first international break of the season already underway, we scour the Premier League treatment rooms to assess the players who picked up injuries over the weekend action.

Arsenal
Laurent Koscielny was withdrawn midway through the first-half of yesterday’s trip to Leicester after sustaining a head injury. Arsene Wenger reckons the Frenchman “should be alright” in a week, while the Gunners boss also revealed Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (calf) and Mesut Ozil (ankle) picked up problems in the 1-1 stalemate.

Aston Villa
Skipper Ron Vlaar was subbed off due to a calf complaint in Villa’s win over Hull, Paul Lambert has confirmed.

Chelsea
Oscar was unavailable for the Blues’ trip to Everton in Saturday evening after being ruled out with an ankle problem. Eden Hazard has since pulled out of the Belgium squad with a “small injury”.

Crystal Palace
Marouane Chamakh is set to be sidelined for a month with the hamstring problem picked up during the weekend draw at Newcastle. Fellow forward Dwight Gayle was also withdrawn at St James’ Park after sustaining an ankle knock but is expected to be fit in time for Gameweek 4.

Everton
Similar to Chelsea’s Hazard, Romelu Lukaku has also withdrawn from international duties for Belgium due to a small injury.

Man City
Summer signing Fernando was subbed off during the first half of Saturday’s home loss to Stoke with a groin problem, Manuel Pellegrini admitted post-match.

Man United
Initial reports suggested Juan Mata was replaced with three minutes remaining of United’s draw at Burnley with a hamstring problem. Louis van Gaal has since stated the Spaniard was withdrawn due to cramp. The Red Devils’ boss also confirmed Angel di Maria was subbed off as a precautionary measure after sustaining a knock on his calf.

Newcastle
Newcastle right-back Daryl Janmaat was withdrawn with just three minutes left of Saturday’s clash against Palace after picking up a knock.

Stoke
Peter Odemwingie was forced off with a knee problem just 20 minutes after appearing off the bench in the Potters’ win at City.

Tottenham
Danny Rose was withdrawn midway through the second-half of yesterday’s home loss to Liverpool with a leg problem.

Sorry, can you tell me how many European Titles United have? That comment is invalid, it's all very well being in the top 4, you haven't stood a chance on winning the Champions League in ages. Liverpool dominate in the Champions League

I think he was until Osvaldo. Basically, if you're our record signing for any length of time, you're doomed 😉 Delap was our record signing for years 😉

        • 11 Years

The only way I can get Sterling into my squad is to do Hazard -> Sterling, which I want to do less than I want to do Mata -> Sterling. I'm just scared to death of missing out on the Sterling bandwagon any more AND about ManU's issues...

Imo you need a Chelsea midfielder. Better to have Sterling than Mata at this point. (Especially when you consider all the changes at Man U - will take a while to flush out who plays where.)

As long as he doesn't rust, should be fine.

    Choo choo choose one please:

    A) Wisdom --> Moreno (-4)
    B) Moore --> Moreno (-4)
    C) PVA --> Moreno (-4) ... with this option I keep enough ITB to upgrade Rooney to Aguero later.
    D) No hit.

Thanks in advance boys and girls!

Stop tooling on fans of different clubs who are hopeful for their teams. What the hell else are they supposed to think three matches into the season? Plus, there is another window opening up in four months.

Chelsea and City look great so far, the rest is certainly up for it.

    In Wenger I Trust.

Every big player that moves says that it was a dream to play for them or they were a boyhood supporter or their idol played from them. 🙂

What do we think will be the price for Blind and will he be a def or mid? If around 5.5 and a mid, could be worth a look?

Everyone out for free bar Luiz and a few quid for Ba.

£50m dodgy deal made it happen

So the whole time, and it's been years, that Chelsea's net spending wasn't so good? You're saying they've been dumb all that time? Perhaps you also mean that having a billionaire owner doesn't affect their leverage in the market?

          Yeah, very smart.

There had to be something bogey about that Luiz deal, not even someone proven to be insane would pay £50m.

For PSG he was worth it to have the Brazilian central defensive partnership but agree 50 is way too much for Luiz.
