After kicking off our series of Big Numbers articles with a look at the best performing Defenders over the first three Gameweeks, we now move further up the pitch. This time round we focus on midfielders, with a trio of summer signings all showing plenty of promise in their new surroundings.

I don't see how a player who was played as a winger, gets 0.64 goals per 90 mins, can be seen as a lump

Carrick, give it a rest lad. Your stats are distorted nonsense.

distorted nonsense? of course, I imagined it when he bagged 6 goals in 6 games for us when he got a chance at striker last season

basing off those stats purely like that it would mean remy adebayor JRod are better than Rooney?

I'm not judging as a player, just judging strike rate, as that is the main criticism levelled at Welbeck

I might be wrong but I think those stats tend to undergo a massive regression as full 90 minute matches are played as in it is possibly easier to score when you are subbed on against tired teams.

Still, give the boy time and he'll do just fine.

I've done some similar analysis based on goals per 90 before and it does regress with sub players who start getting full games. But he can score goals, more than people seem to think.

Guys calm down with this Jones stuff. We have no idea about the severity of the "injury" and he has 6 days until the next game.
