This morning sees the return of that old favourite “Scout Scribbles”. We round up the most noteworthy of news or football rumours from the past 24 hours for your morning reading, with Spurs’ performance at MK Dons last night reminding us they have more than just one Croatian capable of making the headlines…

Nico Krancjar served a reminder of his talents last night in Tottenham’s 5-3 win at MK Dons. The Croatian played a part in 4 of his side’s goals, creating three and scoring one. Roman Pavlyuchenko grabbed Spurs’ opening two goals but Jermaine Defoe again struggled. Defoe, scorer of just 4 league goals last season, was given 75 minutes game time by Harry Redknapp last night but the England man failed to find the net again and has been linked with a move to Newcastle in this morning’s papers.

Nigel Reo Coker is set to follow Darren Pratley by moving to Bolton this summer. Signed by Villa for £8.5m four years ago, he will arrive at the Reebok on a free transfer and represents a savvy piece of business by Owen Coyle. He’ll offer plenty competition to a central midfield area that already has Stuart Holden, Fabrice Muamba and fellow new boy Pratley as the main contenders for a place in Coyle‘s starting line-up, though Reo-Coker is perhaps the most versatile of the four, and will offer Coyle options at right-back and right midfield. The Trotters boss has also been linked with a raid on former club Burnley for winger Chris Eagles and right-back Tyrone Mears, in addition to a move for Liverpool’s David N’Gog.

QPR have turned their attentions to Southampton’s Jason Puncheon as they look to boost the ranks at Loftus Road. Neil Warnock’s side have made a bid for the winger and offered centre-half Kaspars Gorkss in exchange. Puncheon spent last season on loan at Millwall and Blackpool and clearly has little future at St Mary’s, but Gorkss played a major part in helping QPR to last season’s Championship and a move away from the club at this stage will be something of a surprise. Ranked as the top QPR defender in our Members projections, such a move will see us readjust the figures accordingly.

Having missed out in the chase for Craig Gardner, Wolves are still very much in the market for a new central midfielder. Mick McCarthy has already snapped up Jamie O’Hara but has been linked with a loan move for Liverpool’s Jay Spearing and forgotten Man City man Michael Johnson. The club are also eyeing up Thomas Hitzlsperger, with the German a free agent after being released by West Ham following the club’s relegation last season.

West Brom look to be on the verge of signing a new keeper. With Scott Carson leaving the club this close season, Boaz Myhill is currently the number one but the Baggies have been strongly linked with both Robert Green and Ben Foster this summer. The club’s assistant manager Michael Appleton admitted last night

“Hopefully they’ll be one or two arrivals in the coming days…we’re at a stage where we’re nearer rather than further away from getting one or two in.”

Swansea have agreed a £1.75m fee with Middlesboro for Leroy Lita. The forward will travel to Wales to discuss personal terms later this week and follows Danny Graham in moving to the Liberty Stadium this summer. Brendan Rodgers’s 4-3-3 will offer only one of the pair a place in the starting line-up and with Graham being Swansea’s number one target this summer, Lita may well find himself warming the bench next term on more occasions than not.

Liverpool, it appears, are still in the market for Jose Enrique. The Newcastle left-back has just one year left on his contract but has fallen foul of the St James’ Park hierarchy of late, and was fined for criticising the club on twitter. With Enrique able to leave Newcastle for free next term, Kenny Dalglish is eyeing up a £5m bid.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Luiz, Benayoun and Torres, none certain starters. Well, Torres probably is but he's forgotten how to play football. Rest of the team looks solid enough, if a bit samey as everyone else on heres teams.

      Hope that helps! 🙂

Good team, if Torres is dialed in you might as well say Benayoun will be playing. I'm a bit suspicious of Downing. The rest of the midfield is strong, dare I say fixture proof. Though starting Tchoyi against MU, may be pushing it, but I couldn't talk myself out of it either, I have a good feeling about him this year.

Does anyone think that with the way they've set the game up this year they've kinda run the risk of putting a final nail in the 2nd WC coffin. It looks like they've achieved in mixing the options up but the 2nd wild card will more than likely lead to genric teams, which cancels out the objective.

I agree, last season guy in my league wildcarded at the same time as me and we picked the exact same team except that one different def but played for the same team. They should mabye just give two free transfers at the end of the window instead.

Do away with both WCs I say... You get your one free transfer a week, but allow the unused ones to roll over indefinitely. That might teach you whippersnappers a thing or two about commitment.

I would agree, however the way the fixtures panned out last season there was a lot of 'argument' as to what week to play it, it's a rule that also favours the season players of FPL rather than the ones who pick a team and leave it. The vice captain rule is a big plus( I think!).
Btw looking forward to the H2H6 league Damo.

I have two Wigan defenders, and a goalie, for no more than 3 weeks. And they may start all 3 matches. I anticipate a lose up in Wales...but you never know. Roda will eat in one of the three. BTW do you think they will have a roster update well before the start, they need to move N'zog.

              Sir Alex Ferguson

              Manchester United

              World Cup

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has welcomed back Javier Hernandez to their preseason camp in the US.

Hernandez only began training today and the United boss does not want to push him too hard.

“He has had a month’s holiday, which he needed after the Gold Cup,” said Ferguson.

“It was a long season and he played in the World Cup as well, so he has not had a lot of rest in the last year.

“The most important thing for us is to give him some proper training before we even consider him for the first team.”

I'm staying away regardless. He will be a scouting report victim. He can be guarded by simply putting a hard working small quick defender to sit on his runs. Yes there's no stopping utter poaching the way it was impossible to keep Dennis Rodman off the boards. But this kid (and I rode him like a mule) has not real on the ball face-up game, no real shot, I'll bet Chamakh took more 10+yard shots. I'll put him on 12 goals this season off poaching, 8 in league.

Vidic IS worth it in the start, Luiz is not worth it, he's not a guaranteed dial in yet with AVB. some cheap Fulham or even Wigan (...yes I said WIGAN) defense coverage would work well. Not a fan of nabbing defenders from the newcomers. You can get cheap defenders from established teams and keep an eye on the newbies and wait for GW2 or 3.

Double buddy? I'll take that too! LOL

              He was +3 in 2009/10 (10 bps) (7 yellows)

              and was -1 in 2010/2011 (8 bps) (9 yellows)

I want to believe he's not a dumbass meathead and has a great deal of intelligence. But I think he loves the contact and mixing it up.

I think due to the crappy pricing that is going on this season it's a bit hard to find value in the midfield area, hence why the vast majority are posting similar teams.

For the guy who was asking about Sylvain Marveaux earlier, he was taking corners and some freekicks in Joey Bartons absence last night again and doing a much better job of it.

With Mareaux being a straight out winger he could possibly rotate with Barton this season as Joey isn't a natural winger and was played OOP there all last season as we had no one else with Routledge on loan.

If people continue with all these RMTs then all that will be achieved is that everyone will have a team with 12/13 same players. Pointless. Better to use the forum to discuss ideas and players etc. and make your own mind up.

Heres one for discussion: Rafael - will he be first choice RB at Manutd?

I think Fabio will start the season at right back at least as Rafael lost his place after getting sent off. It'd be close though as O'Shea wouldn't have been sold if Fergie didn't think either player was good enough.

And he was a bit injured too, Rafael will start, he is the more defensive of the two. SAF has no interest in encouraging forward pushing expeditions with the squad he has now.

I remember reading somewhere that Fergie things Fabio is as good but with a cooler head. With a bit more experience he could definitely nail on that starter role ahead of Rafael.

    Peoples – pls RMT:

    Schwarzer (De Vries)
    Baines, Bardsley, Kompany, Luiz
    VDV, N’Zogbia, Silva, Taarabt
    Rooney, Holt

Bench – Graham, Moses, Martin R.

I figure the Mids will cover the goals for the 2nd/3rd fwds.

    Alternatively:

My other option is to turn Taarbt into Tiote and then Graham into Zamora

    Thoughts??????

Luiz may not start and think overall the defence may be too top heavy in price.

Everton seem to be slow starters so I'm leaving Baines alone.

Bardsley + Kompany look decent picks.

Turnbull, Ferreira, Rajkovic, Terry, Cole, Benayoun, Lampard, Zhirkov, Kalou, Malouda, Drogba

I assume it's 4-3-3 again but what positions are these people playing in? After reading that article from Big Dunc I'm wondering why they are playing 4 of their "widemen"? Lampard seems to be the only true centre mid in this equation. Who are the other two in the midfield 3?

Just goes to show that pre-season friendlies, more than anything, just dilute our thinking.
