When it comes to midfielders, Arsene Wenger doesn’t have his troubles to seek. The Gunners boss, having seen his side’s pre-season preparation blighted by the continual speculation over the futures of skipper Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, has confirmed Theo Walcott has flown home from the club’s training camp in Bonn due to an injury picked up in training.

Walcott sat out Monday’s training and boarded a flight home from Germany yesterday, ahead of this weekend’s Emirates Cup. The Arsenal boss, while not suggesting it’s a serious problem, did admit:

“Theo went home early and was due to have an MRI on Tuesday. It is an old ankle injury from the end of last season. It’s one that comes and goes.

“We need some more investigation because sometimes he’s completely free of it and sometimes it affects him. But we had to send him back because he couldn’t practice anymore.”

The news is a source of frustration for Fantasy managers- Walcott looks good for plenty starts on the right this season and coming in at 9.0 in Fantasy Premier League, may prove to be something of a bargain if one, or both, of Fabregas and Nasri follow the lead of Gael Clichy and depart for pastures new.

While new signing Gervinho could be an alternative in his possible absence, FPL have classified the former Lille man as a forward, and priced him at 9.0. Robin Van Persie is likely to be the front man of choice for the majority of Fantasy managers, however, leaving many to hope the likes of Nasri stays put, with the Frenchman surely a nailed-on starter for Wenger in the upcoming season.

This is a joke of a RMT but I just wanted to see what a team with a really strong set of strikers would look like...........

    Given,Ruddy
    Enrique,Alcaraz,Kompany,Simpson,Taylor
    VDV,Sinclair,Taarabt,Albright,Moses
    Rooney,RVP,Suarez

Totaly top heavy and lopsided but different than most on here anyways, thoughts..........??

Ya I noticed that after I looked at it, its generic as hell lol. Oh well, so much for being different. Its hard tho if your looking for cheap options, there are only so many quality bargains out there.

IMO- Hangeland & Huth- too much spend here with the likes of Clichy and Kompany similarly priced.

Bale & Maxi overrated for me.

Jones, Stoke are always slow starters- I Etherington at the start of last season and it was painful, but he eventually came good!

Bothroyd unproven so risky, but maybe he'll be a gem.

I wonder what are the chances of N'Zogbia not starting for the first few games? Will they ease him in and maybe just give him a 20 minute run for a few? By the time he actually signs he won't have a chance to train with the team much.

I hate the "teams selected by" stat. Seems like loads of people are using that for obvious advice and everyones ending up with the same teams rather than thinking it up themselves.

I know the % thing has always been there but to actually list the players in order is a bit silly in terms of people not having differing teams.

Helps me know what some proper differentials are but there's no chance i'd have Suarez if the fact that everyones got him didn't keep coming up. Don't wanna miss out on him in case he does do well now though.

I think the trick to having a good differential is to still have the key players that everyone else has, that way it eliminates there effect while you still look to your differentials to make the difference. You only need one or two players to set you apart, not your whole team.

Its good info but yes all teams look similar... by the end of the season all the top players will have had similar teams the ony difference being the one or two original picks....

if you have a radically different team you may do well for a few weeks but not long term

also ffs % selected by will be very different to fpl 5 selcted by going by the RMTs on here

That's assuming that the "good" players will not have cold streaks. In the heat of the season the real differential is how long do you stay with a staple when he is not producing. And the changes that happen after that.

Yossi is dialed in until he screws up or gets crocked.

Sort of like a much better version of Cahill @ Everton playing directly behind the striker. I predict he cleans up early, off attention to their strikers.

Can you have a look over what I’ve put together so far and let me know if you have any comments?

    Given/Al-Habsi
A Cole, Rafel, Enrique, O’Shea (Simpson)
Malouda, Silva, Barton (a cheap 4.5 mid and Ferguson because he’s only 4.0)
    Rooney, Bent, Zamora

Happy with the Defence and strike force but keep changing the mid and def.

Rafel – I am sure he’ll start and RB will be his position if he start off well.
Enrique – this is assuming he’ll be first choice LB for Liverpool

Not too worried about the defenders because I like a lot of them between the 5 and 5.5 mark so can easily change once season gets going if I decide I got the wrong person.

Any ideas on a cheap 4.5 mid?

Ferguson is very unlikely to start unless we have a lot of injuries or Enrique goes and we have no other LB cover, then he'll be a mid playing in our def! Plus he is injured, not a great pick right now, but maybe later who knows!

Anyone got any idea who will be the first choice RB for Chelsea this season?

I would have thought that Ivanovic would have been nailed on there but in the recent friendlies he seems to have been at CB so maybe AVB does not see him as a RB? Or is he just playing CB due to Alex and Luiz being unavailable?

    Given - Ruddy

    Ivanovic - Skrtel - Kompany - Simpson - Briggs

    Malouda - Walcott - N'Zog - Moses - J.Thomas

    Rooney - Suarez - Graham.

    WHat do we think?

i wouldn't have toure and silva in the same team, hedge your bets more.

i think with drogba you are looking at halved returns because of torres.

        Thanks I thought that.
Surely City win 16-0 on the first day, no ?
I thought Torres was still crap and might not get in the team for a while so went Drogba.
        Any ideas on replacements ?

even so, i would just have silva. if yuo don't want to jump on the zogbia bandwagon, maybe duff, dempsey or downing? Basically anyone beginning in D.

Concerns over Ivanovic and Skrtel starting regularly enough for their price tags.

    J. Thomas- Maybe prefer Ben Arfa(I know he's missing the 1st 2 games but still...)/McCarthy/Tchoyi/Hoolahan/Vaughan for the same money.

    Only my opinion.

I'd wait for Rooney personally. Adam, not for that money bit if gerrard is out for first 2 months then fair enough. I have Silva so can't argue. Like Luiz, hope he'll start but have neglected putting him in my team cos he's not Terry or Cole, i.e. guaranteed Chelsea starter.

good keepers, good defence, maybe swap briggs with wilkinson whos more likely to start or caulker. Good midfield, I would tho get malouda ahead of vdv cause of first 6 fixtures, then either replace sessengon with sincliar or odem with zamora.

    Hearing Aids

Hearing Aids is a disease caused by the hearing virus. Symptoms include itching, foaming, deafness and rubbing.
To combat the effects of hearing aids, a tiny device (called a wurzel) is placed within the ear that issues a soothing voice, calming the sufferer. This device is sometimes mistakenly called a hearing aid.

Prior to this the only technology capable of easing these symptoms was shouting.

Been experimenting with and without Baines:

    1) Given Ruddy

    Baines Kompany Hughes Bramble Orr

    vdV Yaya N’Zog Taarabt Sinclair

    RVP Zamora Rodallega

    2) Given Ruddy

    Kompany Hughes Bramble Simpson Orr

    Vdv Silva N’Zog Taarabt Tchoyi

    RVP Suarez Zamora

What do pople think of the relative strengths here?

I prefer number 1 but I'd ship out VDV or maybe downgrade N'Zog to Albrighton and have Zamora instead of Rodallega... but that's just me.
